I need to add Beautiful Disaster to my list of awful books that everyone loves. Can you say, "Holy S#!T, that guy's a psycho!"? Ugh. And everyone thinks it's so romantic and intense and "I want my own Travis Maddox!" And I'm just like, "WTF kinda crap was that?!"

the mortal instruments. i felt like it was just to try hard and it was hard to finish. but i felt like if i didnt finish it i couldnt really judge whether it was good or not because i didnt give it a chance. and i did and didnt like it
Definitely and without a doubt the Beautiful Creatures series. Although the movie was sooo horrible it made the books look better.
I DONT KNOW IVE NEVER READ POPULAR BOOKS AND FIND THAT I HATE THEM but my sister says divergent was super boring that she had to skip chapters to read it
Fallen Series by Lauren Kate,Need Series by Carrie Jones,
Fifty Shades of Grey by EL James,
Iron Fey Series by Julie Kagawa
I have a pretty long list, but I can't remember some of them. These are the ones I hate the most. And almost all of my friends love them. -.-

I'm currently reading Divergent and at first it's boring and all, the main character is such a loser but it gets better.

Emelia wrote: "Any John Green book apart from TFIOS"I completely agree! I've read Looking for Alaska and An Abundance of Katherine's and I don't know, I just don't love them! (Don't hate me)
Emelia wrote: "Any John Green book apart from TFIOS"I've never read any of his other books. I had a hard time finishing TFIOS.
I really did not like The Hunger Games trilogy. Katniss irritated me so much! She just needed to pick one and stop toying with the guys.
Definately The Beautiful Creatures books, the book was way too long for the story and it dragged, I read the first but gave up on the second it was so bad. I also did not care for the Matched series, unoriginal and it was basically The Giver redone but nowhere near as good
I was a little iffy about this group until I read this thread...so glad it's not a group if Twilight lovers! I totally agree about House of Night, Fallen, and The Mortal Instruments. I thought I was the only one! I didn't mind Hush, Hush or Beautiful Creatures, though I didn't read the second book in either series. I really hated Going Bovine by Libba Bray. Maybe I wouldn't have hated it so much if it hadn't won the Printz...I understood what she was trying to do, but it was just so stupid.
Fallen by Lauren Kate. I just don't like everything in it. I have the book and it was one of my worst buy ever. The plot is bad and the characterization is worse. I struggled thru the first, tried to read the second but it was too unbearable. Still can't believe this is turning into a movie.
Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
I actually liked the first book but rest is getting worse. The plot is too confusing and some scenes just didn't make sense to me. Started reading Silence (third book) about a year ago but I doubt I'll ever finish. I'm seriously giving up on these series.
Georgie wrote: "Daughter of Smoke and bone. absolute yawn fest of a book."same here, it frustrated me because so many people adore it.
Kelyn wrote: "Shatter me, I really struggled with that one."I didn't make it past the first 10 pages.
Ally Condie wrote "Matched" I was able to get through the first one but the second one was terrible >_<
Andee wrote: "Vampire diaries for sure!"I'm reading this right now, I'm on the first one and I like it :) What didn't you like about the series?
Vampire Academy by Richelle MeadI got through the first two books and 1/2 of the third one before I finally gave it up. I just didn't like Rose, I didn't care where the story was headed. Dimitri was the only half-way interesting character but even his hotness wasn't enough to keep me interested. I ended up skimming the rest of the story.
And I know I'm going to get some flack for this one but:
The Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling
I read the first book and 1/3 of the second one and just plain didn't care anymore. I love what Ms. Rowling has done to change the way we think about reading for a generation of young readers, but I just did not care whether or not Harry, Ron, or Hermione lived or died and once that happens I can't read the rest of the story because I feel like I'm not going to give the remaining books a fair chance. The story was actually really good, but if I don't connect with the characters that's a deal breaker for me.
Ally Condie's Matched. I hated reading it but finished anyway. I have never thought about reading the sequels.
I very much don't understand why directors would make If I Stay a movie.. I hate that book. Also the Matched series by Ally Condie, although i love the covers, the content stunk. And... don't yell at me about this but I've tried to read the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare, but I found myself bored, disinterested, and skipping through pages. I do plan to try and re-read the series again because I would like to understand what all the hype about it is..
@Robin. I agree with you on the Mortal Instruments. I've only tea the first book, but I own the first 4- and for some reason I can't get into the books. I mean I love Jace and I actually started the second books. But it took me 3 months to get through City of Bones. I had school at the time though. I'm going to try and re-read them when I have some more time, maybe in the summer or something. But I agree with you. I really want to like the series, but I'm not sure about it. It's somewhat interesting and red different though.

I never even wanted to attempt VA, until I challenged myself to read the 19 books that are being made into movies in 2014. I'm surprised that I'm actually enjoying it, especially since so many VA fans say it's the worst in the series and so many non-fans just don't like it. I was especially surprised since I quit halfway through Viva Jacquelina! Being an Account of the Further Adventures of Jacky Faber, Over the Hills and Far Away, the 10th book in one of my favorite series (and a huge disappointment) and really expected to be put off reading for awhile and not be able to get into VA.
Sorry you didn't like it or HP - both of which I am/have been a fan of - but I wish you better reading in the future! :D
@Robin @April I totally get it. I didn't like Mortal Instruments at first and struggled to finish CoB but I was very determined so I did anyway. Until the third book, I still felt like it was flat and not exciting and I hated Clary. I started to like TMI after reading book 4 and 5 since it was holiday and I got the time to devour them all. But it was just me, though ;)
It's so strange that matched is on here by so many people. I wouldn't give the series 5 stars but it wasn't horrible. I would never say I hated the books. I admit they were a little dull but not every book can be action packed right?

Flowers in the Attic. It was required reading in my 11th grade English class until a group of parents lobbied to ban it. That was in the late '90s.
@cecile Honestly, I didnt give it much of a chance. Neither of them actually. I got 33% of game of thrones and put it down because I had no idea what was going on. And one look at the helps wording (I know thats how the slaves talked back then) it just annoyed me
Evermore by Alyson Noel, by far, such an annoying book
The Maze Runner...I just couldn't get past chapter 5. The language drove me nuts, like giving crap the name "klunk because that's what it sounds like hitting the poo pot." Bleck!I'd have to add Gone Girl too...just couldn't get into it.
50 shades of grey, twilight and there was this Book i can't Even be bothered to remember the Title but a Lot of People recommented it to me and i just...50 Pages Tops before i put it away. About a Girl going to a party, dying, everything rewinds and she could prevent her Death but in the Pages i read, her choices got stupider and stupider so yeah
Omg Across the universe was so bad for me I just could not take that book or understand why it was so popular.

For me it was " The Maze Runner" by James Dashner , It was an okay book, might make an okay movie. But I just wasn't in love with the book. It was kinda boring to me..
The Giver was never a fan I that book, why did we have to read that in school? I don't see the educational value
Okay, so I didn't actually hate this book, but now that I've read The Fault in Our Stars, I can confidently say I will never read another John Green book, because while I was reading, in my head, it was John Green's voice like half the time. If you haven't heard him speak, it sounds like he's having a race with himself to get the words out fastest, and he tends to emphasize some parts quite fervently. Just... go watch like five seconds of a vlogbrothers video, and you'll know what the problem is.
