worst book you have ever read that's popular?
Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. One of my friends in goodreads read this book and she gave it good ratings and comments too. I was curious and I decided to read but I couldn't get into the story. It was too slow for me and the characters were quite weak. I didn't feel the chemistry between them. I don't continue the rest of the series because - you can say I'd been disappointed with the first book.
Just finished Sweet Evil. Blah! Not a likeable or believable character in it. Anna, especially, wound me up. And all Kiadan did for me was make me miss Tucker and Christian from 'Unearthly' that much more.
Hush,Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. I had a couple of people recommend it to me and kept hearing about it so I bought it and winded up wanting to chuck whoever the MC was out the window. She drove me up the freaking wall. Fallen by Lauren Kate. Augh ack brain melted. So many many things drove me up the wall with this.
Twilight. 'nuff said.
I have Shatter Me out from the library now.. I have to be honest, I wasn't going to read it, but now that there are opinions that differ so GREATLY, I want to see how I will feel about it.
I'm not liking beautiful creatures, although I'm trying to finish it to see if it gets any better (fingers crossed)
I had trouble with beautiful creatures also. I powered through to finish, but did not continue with the series.
City of Bones, without a doubt. I couldn't finish it. It had gotten to the point where I actually started to loathe similes, so I had to put it down.

So, I completely forgot I had ever read these because they were that idiotic to me... But I found the Pretty Little Liars series to be absolutely insufferable. I cannot even begin to understand how they made such an appealing book for people much less an extremely popular TV show!Somehow, I managed to struggle through five whole books in that series. The characters were never anything other than superficial and the plot of almost every book was the same. It seems to me that Sara Shepard just couldn't let them go. Then she had to make another series about attractive teenage liars...
Olivia: oh yeah!! A friend if mine told me that it was poorly written and the fact that the show is x246775443 more better than the books itself which surprises me because that rarely ever happens cause most of the time it's the books that are x356788888888899976555 better !
Shiver, hated this book with a passion!! The characters were incredibly one dimensional and way too perfect. The romance felt rushed and also didn't really make sense, at least to me. Most of all the 2 POVs is what set me off. Sam and grace sound EXACTLY THE SAME!!!
Stormy: After hearing the praises for Shiver for about three months straight, I decided to give it a try... It was terrible.
Honestly, I don't think I made it through more than a few chapters at most. It was all very flat and disappointing. There was no hook, nothing that made me want to continue it.
For me it was "Forever Black" and "Forever You" by Sandi Lynn.....I couldn't move on to the next book just couldn't, I have to force myself to even read the first two.
Fallen, Shiver, & Beautiful Creatures are all on the list of books I heard/read great reviews about & didn't enjoy. I found Shiver incredibly boring & the characters awfully dull to the point I really didn't care about them; Fallen & Beautiful Creatures I've tried to get into multiple times, but I just can't!Another one I found disappointing after all the hype, but didn't absolutely loathe, was Legend by Marie Lu. I think it lacked character building, a coherent world, & a believable romance. I desperately wanted to like it, but the two characters were so flawless & I can't handle Mary Sue's. :(
I absolutely loved legend but I agree with you it lacks "romance" like i felt like day and June just automatically dated , no details and such !
I really, really hate insta-love, so that was definitely a problem for me & I'm praying that it fleshes out their romance/relationship as the trilogy progresses. I'm going to read the next two & hope that Lu resolves some of my issues with the book. I'm already frustrated that they're going to find Tess because wasn't she, like, just with them during the Patriot rescue? Why didn't she either stay with them or say, "Hey, guys! I'm fine! I'm just going to Vegas with these guys." But, like I said, I didn't hate it, I was just disappointed. Still interested in the general story.
Haha yeah! Btw a little spoiler .. The second one is more of Tess being more of a third wheel that's the only thing that wanted me to punch a llama.
Allye wrote: "Beautiful creatures!"I agree. I finally did finish it, because I hate starting a book and not finishing it. It was painful though! One of my friends told me the second one is better, but I just haven't gotten myself to try and read it.
Oh gosh... here we go: Fallen by Lauren Kate, Matched by Allie Condie (it was basically The Giver) Across the Universe (STUPID!), the Gone series, Halo (oh gods don't get me started on this one!) Shatter me and Unearthly. I have a shelf intitled: Punjab lasso these books to death. I hated them all!
And here I was thinking I was the only one who hated the Twilight series... I didn't enjoy Matched much, although I did read Crossed.
Should I bother with the Beautiful Creatures series, most of you seem to not like it. I enjoyed the movie, but if the book is bad I don't want to waste my time but then I'll feel like I'm missing out on something. Help! haha.
It took me a long time to get through "Beautiful Creatures", though usually I'll read YA in one sitting.
Beautiful Creatures, the movie, was terrible too.
I've only read half of Carrie by Stephen King. The original film was better than the book!

Dido.I couldn't stand Carrie. King made her so repulsive that I felt not sympathy for her.And I usually love the shy outsiders!

not my cup of tea"I haven't read Shatter Me but I can verify that Obsidian is terrible
I feel like people will burn me at the stake for saying this, but I have to say the Hunger Games. I've picked it up and put it down several times, because I'm having the hardest time getting into it and I find myself getting really bored. I've heard that you just have to power through the first half, and then it's addictive, and if I can manage to make myself do that, I might see what the rest of you see. For now, it's really just not my favorite. I want to like it, but so far am having no luck. Loved the movie though, which does give me hope for the series. Attempting to read it again after watching the movie made it a little more bearable than the first time (before the movie), but still ended up putting it down.
I really did not like Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini. It was torture! I cant believe I actual finished it. Pretty much everyone I know likes it, and I don't understand how they could!I didn't really like Beautiful creatures either. It was just so boring, I couldn't finish it.
Ikr! My friend was raving about it, but it was so... bleugh. :)
For me this was Perks of Being a Wallflower. It wasn't a painful book to read I just didn't feel connected to the characters and I didn't like the story line very much...
The second book in the Beautiful Creatures Series.... Almost as bad as the Beautiful Creatures movie....
Wowza! Everyone's really hating on the Fallen series. Though, I will say, it does not seem good, and in fact, I gave it to a friend as a gift because she tends to like her guys dark and brooding and her girls swoony and relatively helpless, which isn't really my scene.Anyway, my list consists of Percy Jackson (some of my friends still read that spin off, The Lost Hero series and that other one, and I just don't get it), Twilight (I know at some point I read this, but I don't remember a thing other than returning it to the library), and The Night Circus (I'd forgotten about this one until someone else on here brought it up, but oh god, oh no, this book was garbage.)

I thought it will be well written... But it disappointed the crap out of me. I had always believed simple words can make an abstract and beautiful piece, but this
booktrilogy proved me damn wrong. The words used were simple but it just fit together and produce a mere book of simplicity. The climax of the book was so predictable, that it was no longer interesting to read. It's just like a straight line throughout the book. ---------------------Four's character development took a downfall as the books go on. I hated Tris ever since the first book, so her (view spoiler)[death in Allegiant (hide spoiler)] don't really matter. In fact, I'm glad.
