The whole Maze Runner series. I honestly kept reading just to see when will it get interesting. It didn't
mine would be the Stephaine plum series... I don't hate it as such, but find myself putting it down to start any other book and just not going back to it... I have that bashing feeling I should just knuckle down and read them because so many people love them, but they have no depth to then and generally bore me
I don't know if I've already said this, but I really didn't like Red Queen or Vampire Academy. Didn't love Anna and the French Kiss or If I Stay. I didn't mind Beautiful Creatures, but I hated Beautiful Darkness.
"Marked", the first in the House of Night series. I actually couldn't finish this one it was so bad. Also, "Blue Bloods" by Melissa de la Cruz. It didn't irritate me like Marked did but it was just so boring. I actually had bought this one years ago but I didn't actually finish reading it until a few weeks ago because every time I'd start it, I just gave up halfway through.
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. This book is becoming really popular and I almost read it all but it wasn't my thing. Before I Fall. That was a book I just didn't like. They aren't bad books, per se, but they just weren't for me and I can't really see how 'great' they are. Oh and Delirium, I had a couple of pages to go and I don't know what happened, I was pretty close to finishing it. That was actually one of the books I have been wanting to read for a long time, and I was disappointed. It isn't bad but the characters, plot, concept and writing were just way off for me. It doesn't go anywhere, and when I realised the second book had no Alex in it I decided to quit the series. I flipped through the second book (which I never do because spoilers) and it was just dialogue, some other characters, and them being in the forest or something. Nothing seemed to be happening. Of course, I didn't actually read the second book but I didn't like the first one enough to read on.As well, Fallen by Lauren Kate wasn't a bad book but Passion was really disappointing. I did know what was happening even though I hadn't read Torment but maybe it affected me somehow but I don't think it did. I just didn't like Passion because after a few chapters it got massively boring and the same thing over and over again. The MC does develop slightly but other than that, the book felt like a filler as nothing much happens to develop the plot of the series.
I couldn't even make it through 15% of The Girl on the Train. I don't always like the MC of the book I'm reading but she was the absolute worst and I couldn't stand it! I also didn't like The Perks of Being a Wallflower and don't understand all the fuss.
Me too. I liked it, IMO it wasn't great but it was a book still worth reading. Everyone keeps saying Catching Fire was the best in the trilogy and Mockingjay the worst, but they're all pretty equal to me. :)

Keight wrote: "The Red Queen. Plot holes a mile wide."Ugh, I know, right? And one of the most basic things never got answered for me: Why does the male love interest even like her? For me that colored everything. It just never got explained, even indirectly.
Some that immediately come to mind are
and
(granted I never FINISHED Beautiful Creatures so maybe I'll change my mind... but I highly doubt it...) The worst book I ever recall reading (so far) is
*shudders* it was NASTY I thoroughly dislike that book!
Lili wrote: "Shiver from Maggie Stiefvater and Looking for Alaska from John Green"YES! Maggie Stiefvater's whole shiver series was boring, the characters were so dull (though her Raven boys is amazing) And John Greens books are very boring
I found the same with Shiver though admittedly I never finished it cause I got bored. I keep meaning to give it another go though.
Yes for sure If I Stay and Fault in Our Stars. Way too overrated, I didn't find any part of it enjoyable.

I didn't like The Fault in our Stars at all. I don't even know why, I just had to struggle through every chapter...
robert jordan's wheel of time. the first book was okay, had promise-- but that premise wore thin really quickly. I struggled through 5 or 6 of the books before chucking the series entirely. At one point, my mother had brought up a box of old books. I saw book 5 of the series... i figured she had picked it up at a yard sale etc. It didn't ring familiar, so i began to read it- having nothing else on hand at the time... and, (well, read one)... so, as i was reading, I kept having a vague nagging sense of familiarity... a few events felt familiar, and I couldn't help wondering if I had, in fact read this book. I read until almost page 600 before an event that was significant enough.. struck me as, YES, I have read this already!
I think that speaks for itself... a book filled with mundane and trite events, very much geared to the younger reader, for sure--- but still.. 600 pages before something truly significant and memorable happens...? needless to say, at that point, I chucked the book... again:)
Ellen wrote: "Harry Potter"I'm kind of with Ellen on this one. While i fan see how they are good kids books.. the adult-craze that hit boggled me. granted, I am a long time fantasy-reader.. and there IS a lot of excellent fantasy out there. But, from what i could see in the books.. the first ones weren't even that spectacularly constructed. yes- she was a first-time author... and she definitely improved with each installment-- but still... I never got into the series, and failed to understand the manic craze surrounding them:)

The house of night series. I loved it up to tempted and then after that I just felt like it was being drawn out and I got tired of so much drama. It was very disappointing to me because I loved the beginning of the series, it had such promise.
Shatter Me just didn't click with me. I could barely get through the book and even though I finished it I don't know if I'll go back to the others.
I also think that Divergent didn't deserve all the recognition it got.

I can totally understand why you wouldn't like it, but I encourage you to read the second and third book. I myself didn't LOVE the first one but after reading Unravel Me I started to change my mind, and when I read Ignite Me... well it is now one of my very favorite series. There is a lot of character development that was desperately needed and got fulfilled in Unravel Me and Ignite Me. I do hope you give it another try, but if you don't it's totally understandable.

either fifty shades of grey or hush hush. through both of those i really thought i was reading some kind of joke. i read fifty shades online and for a while i was convinced it HAD to be poorly written fanfiction of the book being advertised as the real thing. but nope.also, while i didn't hate the Mortal instruments, i certainly didn't think it lived up to the hype. I didn't like the characters and all of the major plot points were obviously stolen from other books/shows/movies.
Taylor wrote: "either fifty shades of grey or hush hush. through both of those i really thought i was reading some kind of joke. i read fifty shades online and for a while i was convinced it HAD to be poorly writ..."Sadly a lot of plot points seem to be taken from bits of other books. I really agree with you about the 50 shades book, it was HORRIBLY written. I couldn't even believe it was actually written by an adult it was that bad. Also in all fairness to the hush hush books they were actually written by someone who was 14. So....it was not too bad from its source.

That Shatter Me as a single book is meh, but that the trilogy, when judged as a trilogy, is pretty awesome.
I really didn't like Matched by Ally Condie. The cover said it was the hottest dystopian since The Hunger Games. Ha no.
I didn't enjoy If I Stay either.I didn't hate Shatter Me, but I couldn't get through Unravel Me.
I think The Darkest Minds is overhyped, but I didn't hate it. Couldn't get through Never Fade.
Also, as of late Red Queen has been really popular but I didn't like it.
Really disliked Beautiful Darkness.
And here's the big one - I didn't enjoy Vampire Academy.
The Darkest Minds urgh I just couldn't get into the characters and the plot and just was left with no interest to continue the series

Andrea, I think 50 Shades was popular because the two chapters I read sounded like Twilight: The College Years, I couldn't force myself to continue when at least the Sookie books have a plot behind the sex.
