Hiya, Team Caps! Thanks for volunteering to guide your team through a round of BookShelf Bingo! Your job, should you choose to accept it, will require a few things:
1 ~ Be our go-to person should we have any questions about your team
2 ~ Organize your teammate's weekly reads for each shelf/category so that the BSB Ninjas can quickly and easily verify and approve your stamp request(s)
3 ~ Encourage and motivate your team (you may also ask to borrow Judithe's whip whenever necessary)
4 ~ Post regularly to ensure your team is communicating and on track each week (Send them a PM and friendly poke if they haven't posted at least once a week, noted their book choice, and/or appear to have dropped out of webspace)
5 ~ Send us a PM (Steph, Sandra or Judithe) should you need us for any reason throughout the game
Hi JustMel! :D I'm super excited for this round! It's gonna be a blast, ladies!I'm in CA. Where is everyone else checking in from?
Anyone interested in being our team captain? I'd prefer not to this round, but certainly can if no one else is interested.
Any thoughts on a team name? I will make a list and throw some out, but I'm super easy to please - whatever the group likes, I'll be fine with it.
Hey Steph! I'm in CA too! San Diego to be exact. I'll pass on the captain role since I'm a newbie. As for a name... I'll have to think on that some more.

We lived in Oceanside many, many years ago. We get out to SD quite a bit still b/c the base out there (Camp Pendleton) has larger hospital than we do here in Twentynine Palms.
No problem, anyone else interested in being captain?
I really like Read or PAIRish lol, but I also like Kindle Queens (since my Kindle is currently at capacity)
Those were two of my favorites too. :) We'll what the other two ladies come up with and/or have to add, then make a decision.
Hey everyone! Checking in - I'm currently in the UK although depending on how long the game goes on, I could be in Australia at the end of it. We're emigrating back to Australia on 5th October (that's where I am originally from). As such, my timezones might be a bit off from everyone else, but I am online every day.
I like Read or PAIRish as well although Cutie PaTwoties is also great.
I'm from Adelaide, so we're heading back there. I can't wait! I have lived in the UK on and off for almost 20 years so it is really exciting but very scary to be finally going home for good!
Lovely spot, Adelaide. Very fond memories of visiting it. Vineyards, Rundle Mall, Flinders Ranges, Lake Gambier so blue. Just lovely, if a bit hot & dry. LOL.Welcome home for October :D
Hi everyone! Greetings from another Californian, just a quick(ish) drive north of San Diego in Orange County. I can come up with completely random team names if you want but I kinda like Read or PAIRish.
Gotta think about my freespace book, so many options! Last round I fell in love with Psy-Changelings which makes me think I might be able to venture into the world of PNR. Might.
That's super exciting NancyHelen that you get to move back home! I'm sure it will be nice to go back after 20 years.
Hi NancyHelen!! Hi Vivian!!! It seems like we may have a winner with Read or PAIRish!! I would love to visit Australia on day! It's just so big and beautiful! And it's always great to go home :)
So would any of u ladies like to be captain?
I liked that one too, Sandra. ;) But, sounds like all agree on Read or PAIRish, yes? I'm going to add it now. :D Yay!Wow! Almost a team fully consisting of California Girls?! Cool!
That's exciting and understandably scary moving back home, NancyHelen. I lived in Canberra for 2 yrs and loved Australia. I miss it and the friends we made there, but thankfully the internet makes keeping it touch a breeze. No idea how long this round will play on, but if we approach the time when you need to focus more on the move just holler.
LOL Vivian! There are some PNR I think you'd enjoy, but yeah, Nalini's is special.
I gotta think of what will be my free space book as well. I was looking at what's coming out within the next 1-4 wks and that lead me to try to guess which book would hold the spot for #1 most read throughout the game and I think it might be
, what cha think? I'm sure I'll be reading that immediately and also
, which I'm really looking forward to.Oh yeah, anyone interested in being our captain?
Wow, I was at university in Canberra, Steph! I remember the absolute extremes of temperature there - scorching hot in summer and absolutely bitter cold in winter. I remember walking across campus to get to an 8.00am lecture in winter and the entire place being white with frost (I was at ANU). At least Adelaide doesn't normally get that cold, although I think this winter is an exception.I'm brand new to the group but I have played Bingo in other groups before, so I can have a go as captain if you guys will back me up when I get closer to the move? Just to make it all a bit more stressful, I am getting married on the 12 September as well, so I'll be away for 4 days the week after on honeymoon. So if one of you will step in when I'm away, I don't mind giving it a go?
:D We were lucky while in Canberra and didn't have any extreme winters. All our friends told us about them though. Not sorry we missed out on that experience. I'm more of a warm weather girl.Which groups, out of curiosity? Several have spoken to me before using it in their group.
Sure, I can cover captainly duties whenever you need a fill-in. Just holler and I'll jump in.
And, early congrats! Two major life changes in a row! We did something similar - got married, then 4 days later moved from VA to CA. Coast to coast is much different than continent to continent though.
NancyHelen- if you want to be captain now, I can step in later on in the game when things get busy for you. I'm in work overload the next few weeks but should be ok by the time your wedding and move roll around :)
Great! So Vivian and I are available to cover if/when you need a bail out, NancyHelen. :) Sounds like a plan! Our first shelf announcement is a little less than 4 hrs away! :D Everyone know what you'll be reading for your free space book? I'm thinking I'll read
(SOS Bookshelf) for FS, but will wait to see which shelf Mr. R picks for #1. NancyHelen and JustMel, did you catch the rules for the free space book? We have to pick from one of these three options:
(1) An SOS Book of the Month: Any month while the game is in play
~OR~
(2) Any book within a series found on one of SOS' member-generated BEST OF lists (PNR series, UF series, YA Fantasy series, stand alone novels, and audiobook series).
~OR~
(3) A book off of the group's bookshelf: Any shelf or tag; No date restriction - books added at anytime may be chosen
Thank you Steph and Vivian for the offer of help. It is greatly appreciated!Steph, we're playing Bingo over in A Million More Pages and I have also seen it in the Books on the Nightstand group, although I haven't played it there (and I think it is an individual challenge rather than a team one, like this)
Can't be long now until the shelf is called? I have to get my head around what time it will be for me each week - I think it is about 10pm my time which is perfect (kids are fast asleep and I am usually sitting reading)
No problem! Thanks for taking the lead now.Okay, thanks. I haven't heard of either of those groups, although I rarely stray from SOS these days.
Shelf announcement in about 3.5 hrs
Whoops! Strike that, I got mixed up on your current spot --- 1p PST = 9p BST, is that your time zone?
Ah - so here in the UK it is 9.00pm. Still a good time for me. In fact, anything after 7.00pm is usually good. It is when I finally get some peace!
Thanks to the one person who shelved
as 'strong-heroine' :DThat's what I'll be reading for this shelf. And, for my free space read, I'll be reading
Let the games begin! :D Happy reading, teammies!

Me too! :DI have both of those TBR, so I'm looking forward to your thoughts on them NancyHelen.
I'm sure you already thought about it, but in case not, Bone Season would also work for the "Missing Persons" shelf, if you wanted to hold it.
Hey guys! Long long day today. Just finished my homework and now I have to hit the hay. I'll post my books tomorrow.

I hadn't already thought of it, so thank you! I am quite new to the whole YA Fantasy genre (and, I have to add, I am thoroughly addicted to it), so I might hold on to it. I'll go and have another look at the strong heroine list and see what else I might have which I could read.
Hi Leslie! :)I still need to read that one, Vivian. I'm sure you'll enjoy it - Ilona books are always a good choice. Finally gettin' to the Sookie finale, huh? Interested to hear what you think of it.
Good luck with your studies, JustMel!
You're welcome, NancyHelen. I wasn't sure if I should say anything, but glad I did. I'm not sure what I'll choose for "Missing Persons" shelf as all of what I want to read seems to have someone(s) on the cover. I read Summoning back in '08; hope you like it.
I'm almost finished with my FS book, then I'll get started on my book for this shelf. :D
Hey all!! No homework today!!! Woohoo!!! So here are my picks for Strong Heroine and FS:Strong Heroine:
I figure now would be a good time to start this series...FS:
I read Bitten recently for another challenge and was so surprised at how much I enjoyed it, so I am keen to give another Kelley Armstrong a go. I had hoped the second in the Women of the Underworld series might have been on the strong heroine list, but it is sure to fit in somewhere else. The Summoning seems good - I've just started it (after getting home from a pretty subdued hen dinner for those of my friends who are about to have babies. I am having a proper hen weekend at a music festival at the end of August)...
Hope you enjoy the beginnings of BDB, JustMel. And yay! No homework is always a plus!I loved Armstrong's WotO series, NancyHelen. At times I wished more of the books in series focused on the shifters but the witches, demon and necromancer characters grew on me. Have you watched the TV show, Bitten, which is based on the series? I watched the first season but haven't watched the second.
I finished my FS book and will get my review posted tomorrow. I really enjoyed it - thankfully since it was a two year wait - I was starting to wonder if it'd ever get published. I'm going to start my SH book tonight.
It sure is! Lol I started watching Bitten, and season 2 is actually pretty good. I stopped when I found out that there's a book. I won't watch anymore unless it's like Under the Dome and doesn't follow the book.
Ooh, Bitten is going on the list. I read a couple books from the series (it's 1 in maybe 3 series I have read out of order). I think I might enjoy it now that I can handle rotating main characters (thank you Ms. Singh). The latest PsyChangeling book is on my list too. That plus Magic Shifts (Yes Steph, that would be a good guess for top read book in this round). I am so excited about some of these books. Oh, and...oops I'm totally getting off topic. My brain is compiling a list of books I want to read soon :)Bitten tv show. I am curious about it, and think I saw it on Netflix so may give it a shot when I get the chance. I do seem to enjoy the few Canadian SyFy I've seen.
I have started my final Sookie book. Have made it a few chapters in and definitely trying to remember some of the more recent events. While I readily admit my book memory is really really bad, the last book obviously left NO impression because I still do not remember (spoiler from previous book, and Buffy) (view spoiler). Too early to tell but my expectations are low and I haven't read any UF in a few weeks so nothing fresh in my mind to compare it to, will hopefully enjoy the book more this way ;)
