Steph (angel4492) | 28240 comments SOS' Best of: Stand Alone Novels (PNR/UF/YA)
Fantasy Book Club >

READ THIS, BEFORE YOU POST...
In an attempt to create a list with no repeats, each person adds only ONE. IF your first choice is already listed, post your second choice and so on.

ETA: Newly revised! Members are welcome to post more than one stand alone novel. We'd still like to keep from having any repeats, so please remember to copy/paste the list above you before adding your 'best of' book. :)

Please copy the list in the post above you, paste it and add your favorite including author name. Please use the "add book/author" feature when listing the book. NOTE: You only need to post the link to the book you list.

There is also a BEST OF list for: Paranormal Romance, Urban Fantasy and Young Adult Fantasy Series as well. So, be sure to post your favorites there too.

Sometimes your favorite changes as you read new books, so we may have a BEST OF for each year. But, for now, think carefully and post the one that's your favorite right now. :)

UPDATE:
Valerie has created a Listopia list for SOS members' BEST OF: Stand Alone Novels (PNR/UF/YA genres). So, please feel free to add your favorites book(s) here or there or both! :D

First post:

1. ABC

I post next -- I copy theirs, and then put my own:

1. ABC
2. XYZ

Then, the next person:

1. ABC
2. XYZ
3. 123

Then, the next person -- their favorite stand alone book EVER is XYZ, but they can't post that because it's already taken, so they have to post their 2nd fave:

1. ABC
2. XYZ
3. 123
4. 789

Wan (wanwaddell) | 612 comments Any more recommendation in this category? Anyone?
I was hopeful to find some stand alone PNR/UF to plug in a hole when I want to take a break from the longgggggg series.

message 5: by Steph, Just keep swimming … (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 28240 comments I've created a thread here for you, Wan. I've also listed a few stand alones I have enjoyed. :)
(sorry, I'm a tiny bit OCD)

Wan (wanwaddell) | 612 comments Steph, Thanks. And..I do appreciate your OCD believe me. I can use some myself.

Steph (angel4492) | 28240 comments *blush* Thanks for putting up with me and my OCDemon.

message 10: by Laura Lulu (new)

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) | 1603 comments Ha. I'm the only person to post a poor, pitiful, lonely little stand alone. Like it's not bad enough that it doesn't have a gang of series books to keep it company, now it sits here, for months, all alone...have you all no shame? ;)

message 11: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 23491 comments LOL

message 12: by Steph, Just keep swimming … (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 28240 comments LMAO!! Nope, no shame at all! :D

I wanna post Pretty When She Dies A Vampire Novel by Rhiannon Frater , but Rhiannon mentioned she's going to write a sequel, if I remember correctly. So, I have to wait to read The Tale of the Vampire Bride by Rhiannon Frater b/c I have a feeling that might be my selection for best stand-alone.

Typing that last bit made me laugh b/c your book is .... standing alone. Hardy har har! :D

message 13: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Um, Steph? The Tale of the Vampire Bride isn't a stand alone, she's writting (written?) a sequel! *does a little dance*

message 14: by Steph, Just keep swimming … (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 28240 comments Oi! Maybe I mixed the two up and Pretty When She Dies: A Vampire Novel IS a stand-alone?! Now I'm confused. LOL! I'll do some double checking to confirm and then come back with my post.

message 15: by Valorie (new)

Valorie | 446 comments Not sure if I should start with #1??? I'm pretty sure this is a stand alone.

1. Nightseer by Laurell K. Hamilton

message 16: by Steph, Just keep swimming … (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 28240 comments LLL added #1, but it's been standing alone (hehe) here for a bit. So, I'm not surprised you missed it up there all by it's little lonesome. :)

BTW - I started that one and just could not get into it. Maybe I'll give it another go eventually. Some interesting bits in the beginning that might pick up later on in.

Stand-Alone List, so far:
1. East by Edith Pattou
2. Nightseer by Laurell K. Hamilton

message 17: by Steph, Just keep swimming … (last edited Dec 11, 2010 07:39PM) (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 28240 comments Ok, double checked Rhiannon's thread and both are due for sequels. I'll have to look over my read Stand-Alones and see if another one deserves the honor. LOL!

Rhiannon Frater

Pretty When She Kills is the sequel to Pretty When She Dies.
