Aleh | 18 comments Hehe, I'm looking for a new book to read. I've read most of the popular ones on here. While trying to decide what to read from the post and reviews here i thought "I just want to fall in love".

Which character have you fallen in love with?

I'm deeply in love with Eric Northman, from the Sookie Stackhouse series. I guess i love the whole dark, emo and mysterious personality.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 737 comments Just one? Can't be done.

I love Adrian Phoenix's Dante Baptiste. Dark, tortured soul with an endearing mix of innocence and danger. Oh, and seriously hot...

I'm a sucker for Ilona Andrews' Curran. There's just something about the Beast Lord that can have me laughing my ass off one minute and weak in the knees the next.

Lastly, J.R. Ward's Rehvenge. Yum... yeah, that about sums it up. ;)

Brandy *Ahviel* (ahviel) | 257 comments I love Rhev as well but I like the men from Gena Showalter's books Lords of the Underworld. They are just full of surprises and lots of yummy sex appeal and tortured souls

message 4: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 208 comments Oh man so many to choose from. My top two would have to be ...
1.V from BDB
2.Acheron from DH - love him !

message 5: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne after much considration::thought and arguing with myself i've decided::V from BDB series cos i reckon he's quite interesting::Dante Baptiste for the same reasons as DarkHeart::and::Seth from Wicked Lovely cos hes got a pierced lip lives in an old railway carriage and hes into reading and books ::

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 737 comments Ooh yeah, Seth is crazy hot (never mind that I'm at least 15 years older than his character - LOL)! Love him! And I'm with you on V as well, but had to decide between the BDB boys - Qhuinn was battling for a mention as well. ;)

message 7: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 208 comments if we are decide which BDB is the best .....
V always tops my list
then z and Rhev
hehehehe.

message 8: by Wendy (new)

Wendy (wendyhill) | 88 comments Definately V from BDB series. He's smart and HOT!

I would seriously hate to have them standing in front of me and just be able to choose one.
Vishous
and then the rest of the BDB warriors.
Styx from Guardians of Eternity #3 who looks like an Aztek (sp) warrior.
Talon from D.H. series
and I can't forget Acheron

I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO DO THAT. I know I took it further that the subject, but it's impossible.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 737 comments Sigh.. yeah, Z as well. They're all so yummy!

ok, one that NO ONE will believe. Mike from The Moon is a Harsh Mistress by Robert Heinlein. I fell in love with him back when I was about 13. And I STILL cry when he "dies" at the end of the book to this day. The reason the dies is in quotes is--Mike is a self aware computer. He's a HOLMES Mk. 5 (or something similar) and he is convinced that he's Sherlock Holmes' brother Mycroft.

Otherwise--Eric Northman, even tho I usually do NOT like blondes. But Eric is just so YUMMY. And Magnus from Sandra Hill's The Very Virile Viking and the rest of that series of Viking time travel books. Cage from the same series (there's just something about a Cajun man, ya know?)

message 11: by Nita (new)

Nita (gillnit) Mine would have to be Bones from the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost.

And I do have a soft spot for Z too.

message 12: by new_user (new)

new_user | 1389 comments Red from The Better to Hold You, what a sweetheart. LOL.

message 13: by Chasidy (last edited May 26, 2009 04:18PM) (new)

Chasidy Nita! I'd love me some Bones too. LOL

It seems most have mentioned a BDB warrior, I'd have to say probably Rhage. If I had to choose my ideal mate... wow, that's a hard one. Hmmm, my HEA would most likely be Valerius Magnus from Kenyon's DH's. That only covers my paranormal fancy though.

When it comes to the "perfect" man I'd go for a Rex de Warenne in Brenda Joyce's de Warenne dynasty series. :)

message 14: by Aleh (last edited May 28, 2009 12:16PM) (new)

Aleh | 18 comments Awww, I didn't mean for it only to be one character. Go character crazy!

I completely forgot about Acheron, can't help love a guy in goth boots. hahaha second would be Valerius.

From the BDB series i would have to say Z. I just want to hold him and never let go.

message 15: by Nifferness (new)

Nifferness | 33 comments Jamie from the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon (not really PNR though..)

Jericho from K.M.Moning Fever series.

Zarek from the DarkHunters...crazy is HAWT!!! LOL

and even though it's tv...Angel & Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 737 comments Ooh yeah, Ash, and Bones, and Clay (Otherworld series), Adam (Mercy Thompson), Cole (Jaz Parks) and Dimitri (Vampire Academy).

I have way too many book crushes. ;)

message 17: by Susan (new)

Susan (dollymama) | 2 comments OMG!! Eric Northman!! YES!!

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) So, just throwing this out there, so don't beat me up... ;)
Do you guys ever get the sense that the guys we love in all these series are kind of just all the same character...?
Sometimes I wonder if the "hot guy" that I love from all my favorite series is really the same guy. Are there discernible differences between them?
Maybe if I really sat down and thought about it I could find differences, but I think they essentially have that same core. That brute alpha male-ness. They all have this very casual authority - the kind that comes from being so certain of their superiority. And they always kind of humor the heroine, letting her think she's running the show...

I don't know. What do you guys all think?

I think my favorite book crush is V, closely followed by Dante (Adrian Phoenix books). I think both of them avoided the cliches I mentioned above. Dante especially, and if V does fit those cliches, he still maintains so much individuality that it doesn't matter.

message 19: by Brenda (new)

Brenda (readingfairytales) My favorite book character is V from the BDB series. If I could pick a movie character, it'd be Riddick from Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick. Gotta love the anti-hero!

message 20: by new_user (new)

new_user | 1389 comments Brenda, I've always liked Riddick too. He's as close to these PNR heroes as you're going to get in the movies, LOL. I like the Transporter character too.

Nichole, I see what you mean. In many cases the hero is the same guy in different clothes, LOL. But some authors take pains to individuate them. That's always nice to read, i.e. they don't repeat all the traditional lines/scenes.

message 21: by Charlotte (Buried in Books) (last edited May 28, 2009 12:52PM) (new)

Charlotte (Buried in Books) | 386 comments OK, this is a hard one.

I'd have to say Vayl from the Jazz Parks books. He makes me smile. I'm only two books into the series and I'm hopelessly in love already. I like the strong silent type (so what if it's a cliche)....

But then I'd also have to say Edward from Twilight (sorry - but I can't help it), I know he comes across as a bit of a whiner and scarey stalker, but you know he'd never cheat on Bella, thats a man that loves with heart and soul.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 737 comments Charlotte wrote: "I'd have to say Vayl from the Jazz Parks books. He makes me smile. I'm only two books into the series and I'm hopelessly in love already. I like the strong silent type (so what if it's a cliche)..."

That's weird. I love Vayl, I really do - and no one belongs with Jaz but him. However, it's Cole that I'm a sucker for. He makes me laugh out loud in almost every scene he's in. He's devoted, and loving and very sweet.

Charlotte (Buried in Books) | 386 comments DarkHeart wrote: "Charlotte wrote: "I'd have to say Vayl from the Jazz Parks books. He makes me smile. I'm only two books into the series and I'm hopelessly in love already. I like the strong silent type (so what..."

Really - Cole?? He feels more like the younger brother I never had. Just not feeling the sexiness on that one.

But Vayl? He's just so clueless sometimes. I fell for him when he admitted he was scared of snakes in the first book. Definately in touch with his feminine side - in a curiously old fashioned way.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 737 comments LOL, I know, he really isn't my normal type (and Vayl so is), but there's just something about Cole. But I hear you though, I do love Vayl, and think he really came into his own in One More Bite!

message 25: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 79 comments OK these are my favorite YUMMY men

Vischous, Rage and Zhadist from BDB
Talon, Valerius, Acheron and Wren from the Dark Hunters
Sebastian Wroth from Cole's Immortal After Dark
Tegan and Dante from Lara Adrian's Series
and Broderick from The Ransom by Julie Garwood (I know this is not PNR but I had to add him in there)

message 26: by Chasidy (last edited May 28, 2009 06:14PM) (new)

Chasidy Michelle since you brought up Garwood, I have to say Noah Clayborne from her book "Shadow Dance". I do love those Buchannan brothers and the few men they work with.

There's just too many characters!

message 27: by Teri (last edited May 28, 2009 06:33PM) (new)

Teri (terifili) | 2 comments JR Ward's V, Z, and Rhage.
Kenyon's Acheron and Talon

yes, Edward too

message 28: by Angela (new)

Angela (angbens) | 343 comments I would also have to say Eric Northman! SEXY! (Plus seeing the character on TV helps with the lust...lol)

message 30: by Nifferness (new)

Nifferness | 33 comments The main reason for me to fall in love with a character is when the author describes their bare chest. LOL. I'm a sucker for nice pecs and rocking abs...bonus points if the author describes the "line" from the navel to their privates. LOL

I can't believe I just wrote that.

message 31: by Cat (new)

Cat (shynet5025) Eric is so hot as well as Acheron even though I can't say his last name

while we are on this vein of shirtless men--if the author describes him as "furred" in any manner at all--I automatically do NOT like him. Sorry, but hairy chests are NOT my thing. A little hair in that "line" that Niff talked about is fine, but other than that, Y*U*C*K.

message 35: by Teri (last edited May 29, 2009 09:46AM) (new)

Teri (terifili) | 2 comments That makes JR Ward's hairless Brothers perfect then :)

message 36: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments I'm reading Curse the Dawn, and I love Mircea.

And yet, I'm getting a complete crush on Pritkin that at the moment is overshadowing my Mircea love. I'm so torn.

Eric Northman, DEFINITELY. My eyes go wide and I start grinning gleefully when ever he's mentioned. Oh, that man is sexy. And disarming in his thoughtfulness. Haven't read the latest yet!!

Valerius and Zarek. Although I think I lust hungrily after Zarek, while I actually want to cozy up with Valerius.

I love Frost from Merry Gentry.

Bones, certainly. I adore the way he lets Cat do her thing and is confident and content enough not to have to take the lead.

And Sinclair, from MJD's Undead. Sexy, cocky bastard. I want to smack him, then kiss him senseless.

message 37: by new_user (new)

new_user | 1389 comments LOL, Nifferness! Go on, girl. xD I like your theory, Adrienne. :D

message 38: by Jael ~ *~ Syhren ~* ~ (last edited Jun 03, 2009 08:17PM) (new)

Jael ~ *~ Syhren ~* ~ (wwwgoodreadscomprofilejael) Wow such a hard question but here we go

Curran- from Kate daniels series. He's the f'ing Beastlord.

Z and Rehv from BDB- these are the only two brothers that get me going. I loved their stories.

Marc from Shifters series. he is so dangerous and hot headed but he loves his Faythe.

Conall from Mangus Pack series- there is something about a viking werewolf who can flip a bed over and grind you something terrible up against a wall.

Eric Northman from the Sookie series- another viking who I wouldn't mine letting pillage.

Lucien Argeneau from the Argeneau series- he's feared and loved. He is the total badass.

Lucan from Darkkyn series- Another dark badass.

Jeremy Blade from the Glory St.Claire series- there is something about a scottish vamp that is just sexy

Charles from the Alpha/Omega series- Sexy with that long hair and NA looks and he is a badass( that seems to be my theme LOL)

Gabriel from Blood & Chocolate- he was my first shifter crush

Clay- he reminds me of Marc how could I not love him

and of course Bones from the Night Huntress series- what can I say he's Bones

If you have a thing for sexy blond vampires, you might enjoy
The Vampire Shrink

Devereaux is hot vampire on the Eric Northman scale. The Kismet Knight series has the same kind of wacky humor and odd ball characters with a touch of mystery. Plus it's written in first person like the Sookie books.

message 46: by Sil (new)

Sil (silviaa) Um, all of the male vampire protagonists for me! Really, there isn't one of them that I would kick out of bed!

My favorite is Eric Northman, but Jean-Claude and Bones are right up there. *drools*

Dante is at the top of the list these days!

message 48: by Kyle (new)

Kyle Borland (kgborland) From a guy's perspective of the little series I have read in this genre so far I'm gonna have to say Merry Gentry would be the easiest girl to fall for ;)

I would say Anita but she is WAY to whiny for me. :P

message 49: by Chasidy (new)

Chasidy Jael, I love Lucian Argeneau too!

Oh, and I just found me a new lover. His name is Angelo Devlin aka Angel(to his sister) or Devil (to everyone else). He's in Sexy Devil by Sasha White. HOT anthology, ladies and the scenes! *fans self*

Jamie ~ Bad Boy Inspector (jamie_badboyinspector) | 45 comments 1. Eric Northman - This man is sex on a stick..lol
2. Dante Baptiste - Yummy!!
3. V & Z from BDB - All I can say is WOW!!
4. Zarek & Talon - Double yum!!
