Ok ok I haven't read it YET but am planning to soon! There is a whole series of these. Should keep the X lists going for a while.

F: Farther Afield by Miss Read: I love her books.

message 312: by Bionic Jean (new)

Bionic Jean (bionicjean) G: Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. Read over Christmas. Wished I hadn't.

I've just found this thread. What fun! I expect you have to track back through the alphabets though to ensure you're not repeating anything.

Leslie | 16369 comments H: Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad

@Jean - I am hearing that a lot about Flynn, especially Gone Girl... and regarding repeats, only scroll back if you feel like it, as it is 'just for fun' :)

message 317: by Bionic Jean (new)

Bionic Jean (bionicjean) L: Living Free: Elsa and Her Cubs by Joy Adamson. An incredible trilogy from the late 60's and early 70's about Elsa the lioness and her cubs, although current views about the author's motives are now mixed.

Thanks, Leslie! And as it's just for fun I really think I deserve a bonus for including 2 'G's in "Gone Girl"! LOL!

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) M: Mister B. Goneby Clive Barker . This is a pretty good read by Clive Barker about a devil that makes mischief. I enjoyed that one.

Leslie | 16369 comments O: Odds On Miss Seeton by Heron Carvic - a somewhat silly mystery

Loved this book growing up (and the movie too!). Jean, I am with you on the bonus idea! I feel like that in the author games when I picked an author such as Hermann Hesse - double H's should be bonus :)

Anastasia (universe_beats) | 401 comments P: Pierrot Mon Ami by Queneau (..boring! Nothing compared to Zazie in the Metro)

message 321: by Bionic Jean (new)

Bionic Jean (bionicjean) Q: I can think of a couple of titles but none I have actually read...

Glad to hear I achieved a bonus though :D

message 326: by Bionic Jean (last edited Jan 15, 2014 03:39AM) (new)

Bionic Jean (bionicjean) Leslie - quite correct! Never mind a bonus, I think you must have a gold star for that!! LOL

It's funny, but I always seem to think of that book as "the first one in the series of A Dance to the Music of Time: ". Probably because the series of books is famous (and quite long as I remember), and I didn't get any further!

And your incredible feat of memory has spurred me on to add it to my "read" books :D

Leslie | 16369 comments U: Uneasy Spirits by M. Louisa Locke - mystery set in early 1900s San Francisco

Jean wrote: "...And your incredible feat of memory has spurred me on to add it to my "read" books :D..."

Yes then I can discuss it with you in a more appropriate venue! I have been wanting to discuss it with someone for a while :)

Bionic Jean (bionicjean) Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. Never bettered. And ditto, Kristen. Perhaps we should start a sub-section...

Leslie - sorry but no! I added this first one to my to my "READ" books, not the whole series to my TBR list. That's not in my mind for the forseeable future, but I do try to keep my lists accurate :)

That is what I meant. Sorry, wasn't trying to push you into reading the whole series!!

Terri, I think you mixed up which game you were in - this one is book titles alphabetically, instead of authors. Save this for the author's last name game - it is a great Y name!
