Alphabet of Books You've Read

Yuganta: The End of an Epoch by Irawati Karve
Read last year and liked it a lot. It is an analysis of the characters of Mahabharata and an interesting analysis of the different translations of the Mahabharata.

Bleak House by Charles Dickens a wonderful story with a great proto detective. Read a few years ago. If you haven't seen Gillian Anderson as Lady Deadlock you are in for a treat.

@Chimney - my mom had the same reaction to Eragon...

Hi Dely, the book seems fascinating. Just added it to my TBR. Thanks! I don't think we can get tired enough of books on the Mahabharata :)
Murder on the Orient Expressby Agatha Christie (have read this one twice - It's good, but not my favorite Christie by any means)

read during high school, part of a great series of books by Pennac - the main character's profession is to be a scapegoat :-)

It happens... No worries

The Wolves of Willoughby Chase by Joan Aiken
Read a long time ago but discovered Joan Aiken as an adult.

Gemma can you put the title into the goodreads thingy....?

Yuganta is very interesting though it is harsh to see Krishna humanized!
Yours seems interesting too! Mahabharata is so complex but complete, there is really everything if we would be able to catch the allegories and the symbolism of this awesome epic.

It isn't always possible to put in the GR links when using the app. One of the more annoying quirks of the app (along with not always showing book covers)...

Hmm.. Yes, Jaya was an interesting book in ways - Has crisp, matter-of-fact stories covering whole of the Mahabharata. Well organized and well written, its not heavy reading. Though knew most of the stories, managed to find 1/2 stories which I had not read/heard before.

Oh yes and there's a delay... Posting on the app doesn't come up on the Internet site for a long time.

Erewhon by Samuel Butler I read this last summer having read about it in 501 Must-Read Books and finding a second hand copy.

If on a Winter's Night a Traveller by Italo Calvino.
Only Calvino could have conceived it and executed it to the perfection. A fantastic novel. One of my all-time favorites.

Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen had to study for GCE English. Thought it was a stupid book then but love it now. Really despised Catherine Morland when I was 16.

The Postman: Il Postino by Antonio Skármeta
Have read it this summer. It is a wonderful book about poetry and love.
