Yuganta: The End of an Epoch by Irawati Karve

Read last year and liked it a lot. It is an analysis of the characters of Mahabharata and an interesting analysis of the different translations of the Mahabharata.

Bleak House by Charles Dickens a wonderful story with a great proto detective. Read a few years ago. If you haven't seen Gillian Anderson as Lady Deadlock you are in for a treat.

Hi Dely, the book seems fascinating. Just added it to my TBR. Thanks! I don't think we can get tired enough of books on the Mahabharata :)

read during high school, part of a great series of books by Pennac - the main character's profession is to be a scapegoat :-)

Yuganta is very interesting though it is harsh to see Krishna humanized!
Yours seems interesting too! Mahabharata is so complex but complete, there is really everything if we would be able to catch the allegories and the symbolism of this awesome epic.

It isn't always possible to put in the GR links when using the app. One of the more annoying quirks of the app (along with not always showing book covers)...

Hmm.. Yes, Jaya was an interesting book in ways - Has crisp, matter-of-fact stories covering whole of the Mahabharata. Well organized and well written, its not heavy reading. Though knew most of the stories, managed to find 1/2 stories which I had not read/heard before.
