Jenne (jennetheinstigator) Z I can't pm you with your settings, hopefully you'll have your book reviewed before Dawn announces the new items tomorrow.

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) I finished this morning. sorry for not responding, Jenne. was probably at dance. will friend request you all :).

week seven: Native american & Boots

book: Secrets of the Moon by Kristy Centeno
finished on 18/10/2013
rating: 4 stars

review: Marjorie had so much going on with her. she was still kind of coping with the accident that she had gotren her friends into and then Kyran comes along and just adds even more to her plate (dont they always?). I liked the way Centeno approached the werewolf topic in this book. even though Marjorie stayed clueless for over half of the book, I was really glad that the author didn't rush Marjorie and Kyran's relationship nor Marjorie being submerged into the supernatural. The "I have a werewolf stalker" was also pretty nice. I would definitely recommend this book.

ICE- "the power to melt ice" (KL 248)
MOM- "'Yes, Mom.'" (KL 167)
DAD- "why is dad washing the car?" (KL 558)
NATIVE AMERICAN- "the name's Native American." (KL 2979)
BOOTS- "donned my work boots" (KL 1123)

Super Bonus Week

Coming Home (Rock Bay, #1) by M.J. O'Shea
By MJ O'Shea
Date Finished: 10/19/13
Rating: 3.5-3.75 ♥

Review: Tallis Carrington is the senior jock/jackass of the high school. James A Barry aka Lex is the pudgy freshman boy that Tallis picks on the whole year until his family is humiliated and they move away. So what happens when your high school nemesis moves back to town and you're gay and still find him hot as hell. Oh, you've lost the pudginess, he doesn't recognize you at all and applies for a job at your coffee shop?
That is the premise. This was a sweet book and I really enjoyed getting to know both Lex and Tally. Interesting to find out why he was such an asshole. Was awesome watching them fall for each other and then try to find out what this was - real or just some fun? My oh my the author certainly did take me back to all those angsty, crappy feelings of high school with this one. Seems some people never grow out of that stuff - too bad for them. So what is Tally going to do when his old crowd from school start hanging out with him and have no idea he is gay - has been all these years?? Tally and Lex both have some growing to do in this book. I enjoyed the ride and want to find out who the next book will be about... Amy or Drew?? Welcome to Rock Bay!!

Again - thanks for the recommendation Ezi!!

Fireplace pg119 ... on the stove and burning cedar from the fireplace...
Pink pg 81 ....mother's fluffy cream colored towels that were covered with bouquets of pink garden flowers.
Super Bonus - King pg 8 The last thing he needed was something else for the self-proclaimed king of Rock Bay High School and his loyal sycophants to torture him for.
Rain pg 13 It was raining. Again. the kind of rain that fell in large wet drops...
Sun pg 277 ...woke the next morning to sun streaming through blinds ....
School pg 8 The last thing he needed was something else for the self-proclaimed king of Rock Bay High School and his loyal sycophants to torture him for.

~Melissa~ FYI - not sure my book has other winter words. Off to double check.

EDIT: Only 1 avail from winter besides fireplace but need to see if Dawn ok's the use of the word in the sentence. Off to check in that thread..

message 322: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) Melissa go rain camp school and king.

message 323: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ Jenne ~ I will if Dawn approves the use of king in the sentence. She hasn't responded yet.

message 324: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Goodjob Melissa :)

message 325: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ Thanks Z ~ how is your book going?

message 326: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ Woot Woot - she'll take king!! Updating my post/review with words now!!

message 327: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ Post # 320 edited with words at this time complete.

Jenne - when I re-read the line that had camp in it - I don't think it would have been accepted. It was a camping chair - not referring to a camp. Used Sun instead.

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) ~Melissa~ wrote: "Thanks Z ~ how is your book going?"

Its good so far! About 100 pages in. Going to be really reading in it tomorrow when I have time since its kind of a long one.

message 330: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann I should have my book done tonight! :)

message 331: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann I finished my book last night and will post the review later today. I'll be claiming fireplace, pink, flower, fireworks, and leaf.

For my extra item, I can claim coat, king, dad, moon, or prayer. Any preferences on what I go with?

message 332: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) Go with king, can you do rain for spring instead of flower by chance? If not no biggie.

message 333: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann Jenne wrote: "Go with king, can you do rain for spring instead of flower by chance? If not no biggie."

Unfortunately, no. The only other spring word I could do would be Tree.

message 334: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) Ok go for flower then.

Steph Ann Fireplace/Pink Week

Cheat the Grave (Signs of the Zodiac, #5) by Vicki Pettersson

Read: 10/21/13
Rating: 4.5 stars

Review

This was probably my favorite entry in this series so far. It grabbed my attention right from the start and never let go. I'll avoid saying much about the plot because I don't want to spoil anything for those who haven't read the series yet. The story picks up shortly after the end of book 4, as Joanna deals with the fallout of her actions. There is a ton of action in this installment, and also some surprises, one in particular that made me want to re-read the first 4 books to see if there were any hints along the way. I love when a book surprises me like that! I'm sad, knowing that the next book is the last one, but at the same time, I'm eager to see how it all turns out!

Items

Fireplace - ...my gaze caught on the fireplace. KL 3560

Bonus Item: Pink - ...poured into hot pink leather cut both too low and too high. KL 186

Flower - ...shattered picture frames, littered flowers - already wilting... KL 1518

Fireworks - ...uses as their fireworks sequence... KL 2559

Leaf - ...Fletcher grumbled as he plucked leaves from a topiary. KL 1991

Extra Item: King - "...my one true love and future king..." KL 201

Review:
I'm very late to the IAD party but let me tell you I love these books. I've read them out of order which I never do but it doesn't seem to be a problem with these. They're perfectly fine as a stand alone. This was a different twist to the PNR genre the heroine is a ghost. I had a very hard time putting this book down and I'll be reading more from this series in the near future.

Items

And a high backed chair by the fireplace KL# 386
We fight a war, deceive our king KL# 328
Autumn rains had been tentatively falling KL# 262
Under the heat of fireworks above KL #1524
To stir the leaves and grit coating the floor KL# 284
Wasn't one to quibble about pink cheeks KL# 377

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Week Eight: Fireplace & Pink

Book: Fifty Shades Freed by EL James
Finished on 24/10/2013
Rating: 5

Review: I remember after I read the first book that I wouldn't be finishing the series, but this has made it so worth it! Christian and Ana (Anastasia is such a nice name) were a wonderful pair. There will never be another Christian, that's for sure. It's been a while since I've had a character that I actually hated and loved. Nice to know I'm not completely crazy yet. *wooh* But I totally recommend this series. Most people probably want to read it because of the whole BDSM thing, but that's really not even the main focus of the story, and I like that.

FIREPLACE - "leather couches surround a stone fireplace" pg 219
RAIN - "sheltering under the awning from the rain" pg 223
SWIMSUIT - "I doubt I'll be able to wear a swimsuit" pg 32
PIE - "white wine and apple pie" pg 310
PINK - "who looks stunning in pale pink" pg 8
SUPERBONUS: SCHOOL - "She's enrolled in art school" pg 351
