Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments I just started River of Smoke River of Smoke by Amitav Ghosh , the 2nd book in the Ibis Trilogy by Amitav Ghosh. As I read the first one about 2 and a half years ago, I'm very grateful for wikipedia's synopsis of that one: even rereading my review and my review notes, I only had a vague memory of what had happened. Well, I have read a LOT of books since then....

David Menon (wwwgoodreadscomdavidmenon) I'm reading 'White is the Coldest Colour' by John Nichol
White is the coldest colour
John Nichol

It's not an easy read because of the subject matter but it's well written and interesting.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments Just made a batch of not-zucchini slice.
I make zucchini slice for Mum's Tuesday lunch: I can put a whole batch of it in the freezer at her place and then take one out Sunday, put it in the fridge to defrost for Tuesday and I don't have to be there at 11.30am to get her lunch ready. This time I substituted carrot for the zucchini, hence not-zucchini slice.
And yes, 11.30am. Old people, what can I say, they want to eat early. She's 92 in August. Sunday I arrived at midday with Pea & Ham soup. "I'm hungry" were the first words she said. Not hello....LOL
I suppose when I was small she had to hop to it when I cried, and that would have been a lot more than twice a week!

You're a good daughter Marianne:) And yes, old people eat at amazing times! I remember my grandparents - 11.30-12 noon for lunch, 4.30-5pm for dinner and between that it was 10am for morning tea, 2.30 for afternoon tea and 7.30pm for supper - then off to bed by 8.30pm!!! So different in our household!

I love zucchini slice, but mine already has carrot and shallots in it, so I guess mine might be zucchini-plus-more slice!

If I post mine a couple of days too soon, I feel better by the ones that were posted a month too soon :)

Actually it occurred to me just now, I posted my The Lost Swimmer review a month too soon. Oops. Can I blame too much stuff floating around in my head that I can't keep anything straight?
