And this morning I started Descent by Tim Johnston, after seeing some good reviews on it by members here.

Sally906 | 87 comments I have just finished A Small Madness by Dianne Touchell. Was unputdownable- amazing story about teen pregnancy, family relationships and mental issues. I am so scared that my review won't do it justice as it is a small book - 230 pgs - so can't say too much.

But fabulous. Already earmarked as one of my top reads for this year!!

Review will come in due course!

It's really nothing like Gone Girl in my opinion:)

Authors get writers block. You must have readers block. I'm sure the urge will come back soon. Maybe you should spend some time in a really nice book shop looking at all those lovely shiny books:) That would do it for me.

Annika I'm reading To the Lighthouse as part of the Full Deck Challenge I'm doing through the Book Vipers group. I'm really struggling to get into it. I just finished reading The Luminaries, which was a breeze to read compared to To the Lighthouse. Someone tell me it gets more interesting, please.

I sometimes get like that after reading a couple of great books. Others pale by comparison. At present I am finding it hard to settle to one and have discarded several. Not sure yet I will even stick with the last one I started. Watching a movie instead.

You probably just need a break for a while Sharon. Maybe try reading something totally different to what you've been reading? A classic or some nonfiction or a new author recommended to you or maybe try an audio book?

If I feel a little blah with my reading I revert to my childhood books - my mind seems to yearn for innocence and simplicity and these books fill the spot. Out comes The famous five series, Heidi, the Katy books, the Secret Garden, Laura Ingells Wilder - all my tried and true books. Eventually my mind settles and I am ready to move back to meatier books.

Sally906 | 87 comments I am having a great reading weekend - 2 x 5★s

A Small Madness by Dianne Touchell and The Room by Jonas Karlsson - haven't done reviews for either of them yet.

I have now started Tell the Truth by Katherine Howell and The Country Practice by Meredith Appleyard - two quite diverse genre :)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments after three fairly intense reads (Skin, Aquarium and Second Life) I am going for something a bit lighter The Girl Who Saved the King of Sweden

message 12841: by Carolyn (last edited Feb 21, 2015 03:55PM) (new)

Carolyn | 9840 comments That's a lovely idea Sally. I think sometimes you do get a bit burnt out and need to read something you really enjoy just for pleasure. I get out a Terry Pratchett or one of Lois McMaster Bujold 's Miles Vorskogian series as they always make me laugh but re-reading some of the children's classics would be a lot of fun too!

Sally906 | 87 comments Speaking of getting in touch with my inner child - I have also picked up my last summer challenge book Escape from Wolfhaven Castle by Kate Forsyth - will be my E book.

Will finish it today as just under 200 pages - am loving it, Kate Forsyth writes great fantasy adventures!

Suz | 4428 comments I'm currently reading the amazing An Untamed State, about a third of the way through and enjoying it (hard to use that word properly dealing with the content). Just also reviewed a book from quite some time ago, almost forgot about it actually. Wanted to tell you about it as I thought it was an excellent on from an Aussie author. Here is my review:

Carolyn | 9840 comments I've had a break from heavier books by reading Making Money in the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett 4★. Still a great series after 36 books and always reliable for a light, humorous read!
