I am sending you positive vibes Bette - when something you love so much (like reading!) is made difficult or impossible the effects are so saddening :(

Angela wrote: "P.S. I have just started And the Mountains Echoed - has anyone read it?"Yes, I read it earlier this year - 5 stars from me! I was going to post the link to my review, but you've already "liked" it!!
Hope you're enjoying it!
Let me know if you start soon Brenda - we can dissect it along the way!
Let me know if you start soon Brenda - we can dissect it along the way!Your review was great Kathryn :) You have set the bar high!
I have started The Captain's Daughter I know you have this on your list to read Kathryn. I am 84 pages in and loving it. I think you will too.

I hope that your lupus goes back into remission very quickly!

Dale wrote: "I have started The Captain's Daughter I know you have this on your list to read Kathryn. I am 84 pages in and loving it. I can't even remember why I added it! :-S I think it might have been because it was a GR suggestion ("other readers also enjoyed...") but it's strange I didn't shelve it on the relevant shelf (to remind me what prompted me to add it!)...
Although I do remember adding something on my iPad the other day and it not letting me add any more shelves on the page I was on, so maybe this was the one. Very scary though, that I only vaguely recall something I did a day or two ago! What was it Phrynne and I were saying about remembering why we add books to our TBR lists? This one does sound good - even if I don't remember why I initially added it!!
Glad you're enjoying it, Dale!

I finished The Black Angel by John Connolly. Spooky and well written . Loved it.

Hello, I'm new here so be gentle. Currently reading The Book Thief (believe it or not) and also Boganaire: The Rise and Fall of Nathan Tinkler. These are two very different books but both seem to deal with lots of Nazis.

As I said elsewhere, I thought the craft was getting in the way of the story in the first 50pp or so, but by p 81 I can feel it starting to consume me. Will be amazed if I don't love it.

I can vouch for these BookSeats, they are excellent, I have 2, one on the treadmill, one on the table. I use them every day.
A little surprised to be enjoying On Earth as It Is in Heaven: A Novel, the cover

there's a lot of different meds;steriods, cortisone, anti-infl's. I take one anti-infl, I refuse to take the others - too many side effects. I have a twice yearly infusion (intravenous) of pain medication; not normally used for lupus but works well for me. I'm overdue for that thanks to my private health fund quibbling about a cost they have happily paid for last eight years. It is very expensive.

Just starting Bridge of Sighs. Bette has interested me in reading Richard Russo and this was the only one of his available at the library yesterday. It starts well.

Reading Liza Perrat's book Wolfsangel, which I'm really enjoying. Just haven't had much time for reading this week.

Don't you love it, Bette, when health insurance companies change the rules to suit themselves? I sincerely hope you can get your IV of pain meds soon.

I hope you can get some pain relief. at least until you can convince your health fund to cover your IV treatment. Hugs.
Are you able to read?

I'm sure you don't really need my update on The Book Thief, but by p 160 the story has genuinely grown into something pretty fantastic.

I go to a small private hospital where my Pain Management Specialist attends. No prob with him, it's the health fund.
I've ordered the book beanbag thingy:)
I received The Little Friend by Donna Tartt via inter-library service. It's such a great service; $2.00! A steal. And I'm going to buy this book definitely; I love Tartt's work.

I'm waiting for The Goldfinch to be available. :)

Bette, I missed all the previous threads but am glad to hear you are able to read again. I had one of those book bean bags and they're great. You can pretty much shape and mold it any way you want to hold your book. Lost it when we moved to this house. I've got a feeling hubby threw it out ( by accident I think? )!!!

I'm reading Streets on a Map: Journey Through Changes by our own Dale Harcombe! It's an enjoyable read so far, but I've only just started, so I'm keen to keep reading and find out more about Abby and Leila's story.

Motrin! Lupus has 4 types but the 2 most common are SLE and DLE. When they were handing Lupus out, I went for a combo, please:) I have SLE/DLE. you have to keep a sense of humour about these things:)

How frustrating - it's one thing if you can't do housework (such a shame!) but another thing entirely if it interferes with your reading!! ;-) Hope your hands are able to hold a book soon, or that you find some other solution, like an eReader that suits you or the book chairs Brenda linked. Or can you lie propped up on a lounge and with your book on bent knees? I read like this a bit and find it quite comfortable...
