Hi everyone! I'm Sylvia and I'm very excited to have found this group. I haven't always been into history, actually hated it in high school, but after watching the Tudors it got me interested in time period this is one of my favorites because you learn about the church of England and how the decisions of King Henry VIII affected the church. My other favorite time period is the early Roman times. I got into this after watching Rome and Spartacus (tv isn't always bad lol) I've read a lot and watch a lot about the emperors. I'm so excited the first book I get to read is Cleopatra.

My name is Tim Ostroot. My formal educational background includes degrees in political theory (BA) and law (JD), with emphases is American political thought, jurisprudence and criminal law. History, clearly, is integral to each area. I practiced as a private criminal defense lawyer for a dozen years, trying about 50 cases to federal and Minnesota state court juries; my cases included most major felonies, first-degree murder, manslaughter and even two pro bono appellate death penalty cases. I have also taught at the college undergraduate and law school levels, worked as a mid- level administrator at a selective private University, and as a college hockey scout and recruiter. I especially enjoy reading the history of the American Founding. My home library, currently at just about a thousand volumes, reflects that interest - my American Founding collection includes sections on the revolution, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and its ratification, founding documents, and biographies of the founders. I am married, I have one son (a practicing lawyer), and two granddaughters, and I live in Minnesota.

HI. I'm Rob and I live in New Rochelle N.Y. I am a utility worker in NYC. My father is a voracious reader and I inherited that appetite from him. I have always loved reading about history, especially military history, from an early age. I enjoy any book on the topic from the ancient world to modern times. I am particularly fond the American Civil War, WW2 and recently European History. I also enjoy biographies and have even ventured into historical fiction. Another area that I have ventured into lately is the history of NYC and the NYC underworld. I look forward to participating in the group and discussing and learning from the members.
