HelloI'm new to the History Book Club. My main interest in literature is history, both fiction and non-fiction. I'm an historian myself and teach history classes, both here where I live near Copenhagen and also, a few years back, in London, my second city so to speak.
So I guess history for me is both a profession and a hobby. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks again,
Steen
Welcome Jim to a site for those who love history. There are many folks here who have majored in history and love the subject matter so you should be right at home. Please, check our main page to find books on your favorite areas: History Book Club's main page

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the comment box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.
When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

Hi, I'm Charlene. I have a background in archaeology...so ancient history is of particular interest to me. I'd love to get a few recommendations for books on American history (I'm already familiar with the prehistory of the U.S. and indigenous peoples). I guess I'm looking for the broad brush history of countries since I'm terribly ignorant.
A warm welcome, Charlene. You are in the midst of history buffs and I think you will find many subjects of interest here. Let me get you started with American HistoryAmerican History

Hi all. I'm Larry and I've studied Early Modern History (Europe, Americas and some Asia) and I work in international affairs. I'm reading a lot of Medieval history lately but need to look to some other areas so I don't become a crank and end up discussubg chain mail late into the night on the internet.
Great introduction, Larry. I know what it is like to get stuck on one era of history since I could talk for days about the London Blitz!!! But I must direct you to our thread on Medieval History since you will be looking for it! Hey everyone my name is Caleb, I would like to start off by saying that books are everything to me. I'll make this short and sweet by saying I just started college, and I'm majoring in History to become a professor at a four year university. My other hobbies I should say are fitness, traveling, and wine tastings. In my spare time I like to play chess and socialize with friends and family. That's pretty much sums up my life.
We are glad to have a budding historian join us, Caleb. There is so much here to see and do that I will get you on your way with a link to our Home Page where you will find many topics of interest.Home Page
