My name is Terri. I am an artist and professional genealogist. I am mostly interested in American History.I am fascinated by the Civil war as well as the history of Salem. I had family ancestors that died from the 1918 epidemic so I have quite a library of books of that subject. I am researching my family line which included the Jewish immigration to America.

I'm Chloe. I study history independently, especially Ancient Rome and the American Civil War, although I do tend to go through periods in phases and those just happen to be my most recent ones. Ask me anything about Elizabeth I, Joan of Arc, Agrippina the Younger (the crazy empress who poisoned Claudius with mushrooms, or so they said), or female Civil War spies. My favorite authors are Kate Quinn (her Rome series, mostly) and Michelle Moran (except her most recent two books, which I've felt are not on par. I hope she steps her game back up, because man did she have it). Currently reading Revolutionary and the diary of Sarah Emma Edmonds, which isn't fiction but reads like it.

Hello my name is Kari. I just joined the group a couple days ago but am now finally able to sit down and get into the intro thread. I just like learning about history for fun, and I get curious about a lot of random things. Lately I have been really interested in Imperial Russia and have read a couple books centered around that. However, my main interests generally tend to run along ancient cultures such as ancient Greece, Rome, and Egypt. I have also dabbled a little bit into Plantagenet and Tudor history.

Hi everyone,

I'm Jazmin. I'm a 24 year old book worm from California.

I majored in Global Studies in college and studied abroad in Bordeaux, France. I speak French and Spanish proficiently.

I love medieval and renaissance history particularly French and Spanish monarchy history. I fell in love with history naturally through historical fiction at the tender age of 7 and have been in love ever since.

Since I have a particular niche in the genre, I've already read most well-known books in historical fiction of those time periods, but I am not branching out to non-fiction and in different eras. I most recently enjoyed by Robert Massie.

I've just picked up by Robert Lacy from my local library.

I would love to find discussions on those books as well as recommendations on similar books of any time period, though I strongly prefer French/Spanish medieval/renaissance.

Hello and welcome Scott...you certainly do have a varied interest in history, so let me start you off with one of them.

There are many other folders where you can discuss topics that interest you.

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the comment box). It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.

When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.
