Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments LOL Tellulah, not twisted at all -- I always purposely played that song while reading Dex and Perry. I really want to re-read the series.

I agree Stacia, I enjoyed Wicked Cravings -- it wasn't as good as Feral Sins but still very enjoyable.

I am excited you are all enjoying Under the Dome.

So Wendy and others who have read . Gone (Gone, #1) by Michael Grant - tell me if I should push through. I am just not enjoying it. I feel like the characters are shallowly developed and the entire idea of all these young kids, toddlers and babies without their parents really upsets me. It reminds me of the towns that I have read about in Africa devistated by AIDs, where the children live alone -- and only have school and they don't want to go home alone at night. I am just having a hard time accepting the fun of the premise - and then my oldest is 5 months shy of 14 and so I am not really getting into the idea that this story is about her. Not she might, lol. I also wonder if it is because lately I am not into YA. I have only read 10%. What should I do Wendy?

I started Noah (5th Street, #1) by Elizabeth Reyes and I am liking it

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Dang...amazon seems to own everything. LOL

Yay for Noah! I liked that one the best out of the series...but I love all the boys from 5th St.

message 1403: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Oh cool -- I like knowing there are other books in the series to read.

Leea | 1437 comments I signed up... I like that I can do a blog with it. Plus I can import my books. We'll see how it is once I get it set up. I'm not leaving GR - EVER. Just wanted to check it out.

I'm signing up for my first 1/2 marathon... The Nike woman's half in SF!

Regina, I did read Gone (Gone, #1) by Michael Grant and enjoyed it but had no desire to pursue the series. For many of the same reasons you cite. It's funny because when I was a kid I LOVED reading books about parentless worlds. Now having a daughter, not so much.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Kay wrote: "Dang...amazon seems to own everything. LOL

Noah is a fun book. I think book 2 was the weakest, but I can't say I disliked any of the books so far. Book 3 is more NA than adult because of the character ages, but I like that the author doesn't have all of her characters in one age group.

About Dark Duet. It's very controversial. You aren't supposed to like the male lead because he's an abusive rapist. But the story is one you can't look away from, much like Comfort Food. The biggest difference is that in time, this lead character "sort of" becomes redeemable, whereas the lead in CF did not.

I've raed Gone as well. It took me 2 times to get through the book because it's sort of slow for a while before it picks up again. I liked it but haven't read on. It's one of those "maybe some day" things. Wendy is a fan of the series though, so she might be able to have something to add.

Finished The Gray Wolf Throne (Seven Realms, #3) by Cinda Williams Chima and loved it. If book 4 is the icing on the cake, I'm super excited because I am already so in love with this series.

Also finished Breathe Me In (Ross Siblings, #2.5) by Cherrie Lynn but I might not review it until tomorrow because I'm still playing catch up with books. It was hot. Cherrie Lynn writes some of my favorite sexual tension of all time. I want to go back and re-read Ghost and Macy's story again soon because this little prequel made me realize how good that book was.

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Leea...add me when you get a chance: http://calikay.booklikes.com/ It's another fun way to socialize reading but goodreads is still the best, hands down!

Gone has been on my list for ages and I still need to get back to the Ross siblings.

I'm working my way through Into the Hollow (Experiment in Terror, #6) by Karina Halle still. I will finish today. I love how Dex has turned around a lot since The Lying Season. Also, I love the new tattoo and the meaning!!

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Regina, about Gone (Gone, #1) by Michael Grant , I'd say you shouldn't read it. I did love the series, but if the horrors with the kids is bothering you already then it only gets worse.

Also, if I were to think of a book to recommend to you that would NOT be one of them. There are books I read where I know which one of my reading friends will like it and which ones won't. This is a "Regina wouldn't like this" book, lol.

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Here I am: http://reginar.booklikes.com/

I finished Noah (5th Street, #1) by Elizabeth Reyes and I really enjoyed it! Thank you for helping me find this book!

LOL Wendy, I will follow your instincts then. :)

message 1411: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Okay, booklikes question - do you start from scratch importing every title and then writing new reviews for each?

message 1412: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments There is an easy way to export your shelf and reviews from goodreads and import to booklikes. That is what I did. :)

message 1413: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Yeah it's easy. You first export the goodreads file and then upload to bookslike. It took about 24 hours for my stuff to move over. The reviews were fine but had some formatting errors. All my shelves moved over too.

I'm glad you enjoyed Noah. I think her writing in this series is so much better than her first.

message 1415: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments The Moreno Brothers? Okay, I will stick to 5th Street. My one complaint, I wish there was more sex but it made sense there wasn't.

The method Kay described is what I did (I followed her lead actually after she posted she had done that). I used my twitter account to log in, not my facebook account and then it allowed me to search for "friends".

message 1416: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I found lots of errors in the wrong book cover for a book loaded on booklikes.

message 1417: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Oh yeah...I noticed wrong covers too.

message 1418: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Did you see a way to notify them? I didn't. But those with wrong covers -- the books do exist correctly at booklies, so I think it is all about the importing.

message 1419: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments I think I will stick with GR. I do not like complicated. Ha ha!

message 1420: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Thanks for the help, Regina and Kay!

message 1421: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Regina, I've been tweeting them with questions. https://twitter.com/BookLikes

Marcella, I don't like complication either. I think it was the design look that enticed me to sign up for booklikes and to try it out.

message 1422: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments You are so good with this stuff Kay! I will tweet them too, thank you! Now I am trying to decide if I should read Gio (5th Street, #2) by Elizabeth Reyes or Devil's Punch (Corine Solomon, #4) by Ann Aguirre

message 1423: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Gio wasn't as good as Noah and it also involves cheating...so, not sure how you'd feel about that.

message 1424: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I am okay with cheating in books as long as it is realistically dealt with. But I saw it wasn't as good .... I think Noah and Roni were both so relatable and likable.

I will have to check it out to see if it is worth the effort. I can barely keep up with GR as it is.

message 1427: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Wendy, it's a mixture between goodreads, tumbler, and instagram. http://booklikes.com/

It doesn't run as smoothly as goodreads but I like the concept & setup so far. It has potential.

message 1428: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I think so too, I am guessing GR was rusty too -- lol, it still is!

message 1429: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I'm in there now, lol!

So when you imported did it build your shelves or did it just throw them all in one shelf?

message 1430: by Kay (last edited Jun 14, 2013 11:21AM) (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments yeah, goodreads still has many things they could fix. I wish they would make their mobile apps better. I just don't like how it looks in the app compared to the webpage.

message 1431: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Wendy F wrote: "I'm in there now, lol!

The shelves get imported too.

message 1432: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Wendy -- it imports all the shelves! It took mine about 24 hours to do.

Kay -- the Android app sucks. The Apple app is a lot better. I love the app on my iphone, I hate the app on my Fire. I am not sure why the apple app is better. Now that Amazon acqd GR, they need to get their Android developers on this issue!

message 1433: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments The more I read about booklikes the more discouraged I get. I am NOT a computer novice and at this point you might as well be talking to me in Chinese because I think I would understand that before I understand what the hell I just read from your posts. Ha ha!

message 1434: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I do alright with the iPhone app for GR, except on someone's review, if the comments are not on page 1 anymore then I can't read them. That's a pain.

message 1435: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) I'm in the process of setting up a Booklikes account... but I have to say, I'm not sure about it just yet.

It's probably me right now, but it felt like a lot of pressure to name a blog with the sign-in - LOL!

Love GR, so I'll be here no matter what. My books are still importing at Booklikes, so I'll see what the aftermath is post-import.

Into Being Me (Inside Out Trilogy, #2) by Lisa Renee Jones now and trying to read Trapped (Iron Druid Chronicles, #5) by Kevin Hearne . I'm thinking I over-dosed on the Iron Druid Chronicles, 'cuz they books aren't doing it for me right now.

Then again, I got laid off at work, so... I'm in a "mood". Trying to figure things out. Luckily, not in dire straits or anything. Just the hassle of having to find another job in a tough economy.

I agree, that is a huge issue. I usually just go to safari for that. I like how groups are now on the app -- and the inbox. Except I usually just email people.

message 1437: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments It's importing now.

I'm assuming it's going on behind the scenes at this point and I don't have to sit on the page anymore, lol.

message 1438: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Oh Lori I am so sorry. :(

message 1439: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Wendy in fact I even shut my computer down at work and it completed over night!

message 1440: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Wow- my import is really screwed up! I'll try to import again, I guess. No idea what happened or why.

And I, too, am noticing that the wrong books are in some of my reviews.

Hmmm... not sure about Booklikes right now.

message 1441: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments So sorry to hear about your job Lori. I hope you find something soon.

message 1442: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Sorry, Lori :( That sucks.

My import took about 24 hours and when it was done, they sent me an email to tell me it was complete.

message 1443: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments There's always bumps and hiccups with newer sites. Right now, so far, I'm intrigued by booklikes. I like the blog with the shelf together. Not that I'll be going anywhere. There's things I like about GR, like the groups and the book pages. One of the big differences is that Booklikes works like pinterest where you find the book you want to add on Amazon and 'shelve it', almost like 'pin it'. I love the book ratings and book pages on GR. I use it a lot at the bookstore.

But I love the blog and I like the look of it, and I like the timeline. I'm still working it all out and I haven't physically posted anything yet but I think I'm going to like it.

message 1444: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I agree. And you can very easily add all of your social network links to the "blog". It is a good concept.

I also like how HTML is easier for the posts.

But yeah the groups here at GR are unique.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Is there an advantage to using 2 book sites? It seems sort of redundant if you can review, get friend opinions, use groups here, etc. I never run out of book ideas or suggestions, so I don't need to look elsewhere.

I just want to know what Booklikes has that's different from here or would serve as a bonus.

message 1446: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I think I'll love the posting because you don't actually have to know the code and type it to post a picture of italicize things. BUT, I don't like how when I import it doesn't bring the formatting of my original reviews. Oh well, it's water under the bridge. Going forward I can do a copy paste and correct them from one site to the other.

message 1447: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Jun 14, 2013 12:13PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments But I'm not following why someone would want to post their reviews twice. Is there a benefit to this?

I guess I feel like I spend so much time on GR as it is that doing it somewhere else seems like a repetitive time sink if there's not any new or different site purposes. Or is there something completely different other than reviewing and shelving to the site that I might miss out on?

message 1448: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I suppose I see it as the same thing as people who have Goodreads and have a blog. I mean, essentially it's just another blog spot.

But no, not really. I mean, it seems like a blog first, then it has shelves like goodreads, and a timeline like Facebook.

When people 'like' your review/blog, they are actually 'liking' it on their facebook instead of just a voting system on booklikes (which is what GR does). It's an actual 'like' facebook button, if that makes sense.

Also, it's got a pin it button. I'm not sure if you can pin a goodreads post, never tried.

But I suppose those would be the only things that I think is REALLY different from Goodreads.

I'm not sure I think you're missing out by not joining. I joined because I was curious and thought it looked nice and would tie back to my Goodreads with a button. Plus it would reach others.

message 1449: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I think it's funny we all don't want to leave GR but were setting up a book likes account. Lol! I'm doing it for the blog option. Hoping it might make me want to start my own blog... It's something I've wanted to do for a longtime but I just do t know if I have the time needed to maintain it.

Lori, I'm so sorry honey! I know you'll find something soon.

GR app is crap. I wish it made posting in groups easier. I usually just go they my email notification & reply that way.

We're headed bak to California today. Making one more but stop for more Rogue beer. Lol! It's a good thing we don't live here because I'd loose the husband to the Rogue Nation.

Does Booklikes have groups? I haven't explored the site much.
