Sakshi Gupta (SakshiGupta) | 12 comments Yp same with me...most of my books are part of a series...I go for series specially at times cause I luv the characters so much that I don't wanna loose touch with them easily...:P

message 1952: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 1747 comments a lot of mine are series but at times i prefer a stand alone (it depends on what it is). some series are really good but there are some series that really just drag the story into the ground imo. LOL and ofc some books that are stand alones might make a great series too XD.

message 1953: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments I'm with Ora, I have roughly 75 to 85% series on my list a good majority of the time. And on the rare occasion 15% standalones on there. But what I truly prefer when all is said and done is definitely a standalone. Especially when so many of the series I've read are not as up to par as I would like them to be.

Shari-amor | 5275 comments New Question: (Scenario) You find out your best friend is cheating on his/her significant other. Would you confront him/her!? How would something like this affect your friendship!?

message 1955: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments In regards to the interviewer question, I would want Lisa Ling or even Oprah to interview with. Or even Larry King, he has always fascinated me when he thinks he found out a juicy piece of info and kind of hops to the front of the desk and then back when he talked to his guests, lol.

New question- Oh lordy, lordy, lordy. I soooo misread this the other night. And had planned on coming in to answer this question by saying I'd take a pic of the friend's cheating significant other with the person they are cheating with and send it to them with a message about bringing that person up with their significant other. And keep me out of the drama.

But now that I've reread it with fresh eyes and it's the friend that is cheating. Oh snap! I'm still not one for drama. But I would have to ask my friend what is going on. Not in a confrontational kind of way. Cause to get too emotional confronting the friend, one might think I have my own hidden motive or interest in the friend's guy is why I'm being so irate. But yea after figuring out what's going on with the friend, I would have to say it would go one of two ways and either will determine the life of the friendship.

1. If I ask what is going on and she denies it at first or gets confrontational first about it. Then if I'm friends with her significant other, then I would for sure go directly to him and tell him what is up. Cause clearly chickadee doesn't value our friendship enough to be honest and is being rather cavalier to both her guy and me. On top of that, I don't like when people get nasty with you after you have had their backs for so many years of friendship. So do me wrong, you reap what you sow, as all bets are off.

2. If she denies at first, but then after a bit caves and tells me what is going on. AND she does feel remorseful about what has been happening. Maybe we even talk about it. Then I think the friendship can still ride out. But I'd have to be clear that I couldn't come around her and the significant other as a group til she has come clean to him too. I know that might put a lot of mandates on the friendship and all. But dude, it's going to come out if not from me but from someone else that might know too. And for a while there it is going to be down right ugly and less people caught up in the drama. So they can either work it out or end things. Either way, I'd have this friend's back, cause for all I know it could have been a one time thing with the cheating, or their relationship really isn't perfect. But at least she was willing to be honest with me and isn't being all cocky about it.

Each to their own as long as they don't try to pull me into it (covering and so on...), I wouldn't judge them either as there is sometimes more to the story than one can anticipate and I don't want to be judged by others either (karma and such). Also as long as they don't cheat with my better half... otherwise I have to castrate him... lol. I like to stay openminded as long as the involving parties don't behave like asses.

Manuela (manu21) | 2559 comments Dhfan4life wrote: "New Question- What are you thankful for this time of the year?"

Oh, there are a lot of things I am thankful for. My family and friends, my hubby and my cat, my late cat, who introduced me to my new cat, food, books, a job that pays the bills, a roof above my head, health, and all of that not necessary in this order...

message 1967: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 1747 comments lmao yes, daylight savings time. not til 2 or 3 am tho i think.

i cant really think of anything that i like or really dislike about the time change other than the annoying part of having to get used to it again. and that since it'll be getting dark early now cant really do things that need to be done outside at the usual times anymore either.

well, I always pick books because I like the cover, read the blurb, get interested and then I find out it is bloody book no. 5 in a series where already 12 have been written and at least another 3 are planned. Can't even remember the last stand alone book I read, or I just ignore everything and enjoy the story. ;)

message 1969: by Manuela (new)

Manuela (manu21) | 2559 comments New Question: We had daylight savings a couple of weeks back and it always throws me in ways I don't expect. Most of my gadgets do the change themselves, some I have to change manually and then I have to figure out where the rest of the world comes in. So at one stage the time difference to Germany is 7 1/2 hours, then for a couple of weeks it is 8 1/2 hours and when everyone has changed the time (participating countries and states) then it is 9 1/2 hours. Apart from that, there is a reason why they do it on a saturday-sunday, so that gives us plenty of time to change it. No excuse to be late monday morning. LOL

Shari-amor | 5275 comments New Question: When do you start getting festive (decorations, shopping, caroling, holiday music and/or movies, etc) for the holidays!? How much or little effort and investment do you put into it!?

message 1972: by Bożena (new)

Bożena (bozi) | 570 comments Usually after 10th of Dec. I hang christmas lights in my window and buy some red candles, bake gingerbread men etc. I love this time of the year.

message 1973: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Usually for me as soon as I see the white fudge covered oreos. As they only bring them out around this time of year but not officially til in Dec. I refuse to do X-mas stuff though in November. My bday month, and I feel like the stores are always well beyond AHEAD of time to me. Which brings out my yearly gripe and complainfest that they have that stuff out right after Halloween. Hardly anything for Thanksgiving or to acknowledge folks born in November. :(

message 1974: by Dark Fairy (new)

Dark Fairy (dark_fairy) | 47 comments In my family is tradition to decorate the Christmas tree and manger on December 8, which is the day of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. I'm not a religious person but I follow the tradition, because it reminds me of my mom. She sadly no longer with us, the cancer took her five years ago, after 10 years of struggle.
With my brother we continue the tradition because it reminds us how happy our mom was while we decorated the house and the Christmas tree together.

message 1975: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments That's a really sweet way to do it Dark Fairy. Sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. She is no doubt looking down on you and your brother and it makes her happy you guys still carry on the tradition. :)

message 1976: by Bożena (new)

Bożena (bozi) | 570 comments Your mom must be proud of you, Dark Fairy:) it's a beautiful tradition. I wish my grandma was here. I will never understand people who are still complaining about their grandparents, I wish I had any of them

message 1977: by Dark Fairy (new)

Dark Fairy (dark_fairy) | 47 comments Dhfan4life and Bożena Thank you for your kind words. Bożena I understand what you mean about your grandparents. I love my nono and nona, I hope to have them many more years with me.

message 1978: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Any time Dark Fairy. I'm for sure going to carry forth some of my own small family traditions as well when I have kids one day. Just good to see stuff like that going forward into future generations that warms the heart.

I lost my maternal grandmother 2008ish I believe. And yea I miss her to pieces. Even shared the same bday. However when my paternal grandmother passed like a few years ago, I can honestly say I only felt bad for popz as she was his mother. But there was never much love between us unfortunately.

message 1979: by Carlena, Pumpkin Pie/Care Bear (new)

Carlena | 1753 comments Dark fairy I understand. I lost my father 6 years ago this Thursday. It's tough, but the little things we do keep them closer to us.

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Aww big huggles to ya Care bear, didn't know that.

message 1981: by Valerie (new)

Valerie (rie10) | 166 comments I love that you guys have traditions to keep going to remember people. My parents usually decorated about now for thanksgiving (or last week i think) and christmas usually 1st or 2nd week of december.

This is a question I have to figure out. Usually, nothing christmas until after thanksgiving and I never did any decorating for thanksgiving. However, i never really did anything for decorating excpt the tree. Hubby put up the tree and the lights in the window. Since he passed last year, i did not decorate at all last year. Just could not bring myself to do it.

I am trying to figure out what i am going to do this year; espeically since i want to put up the awesome aluminun tree (it is older than me and an original from like 1950's) that was his dad's. Problem is a new piece of furniture means no room for a pretty rotating tree that reflects the lights really cool like. But I have told myself that i am doing something this year.

message 1982: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments New Question- How do you define a good friend? Someone that tells you like it is? Someone that is on your side no matter what? Speak on it.

message 1983: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments A good friend to me is honest (blount), accepting and understanding. Those are the biggest qualities for me personally. I'm not an easy person to be friends with especially long term so the good friends I have share those qualities.

message 1984: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments I'm with you Shari. I appreciate good friends that are honest with me about stuff and also are supportive too with things. I just like the honesty with some tactfulness too. I'm not one to fly off the handle like EVER unless someone is working my last nerve. And even then I try and keep things civil. So I don't really receive someone being abrupt and so blunt that they are just yelling at me. That makes me question the friendship, as I pride myself on being as approachable as possible since day one with any one I consider a friend. I just expect the same thing in return.

message 1985: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments New Question: What book would you add to the bestseller list, that has never/ or was never added there before? And why?

message 1986: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Not sure if it was ever on there. But I would go for The Velveteen Rabbit. This has been the book of my youth that got me into really loving magical/fantasy stories. And totally helped with my being creative as a young kid.

New Question- What is 1 thing you would hate someone catching you doing? Doesn't have to be illegal or bad. Could be as simple as picking your nose.

message 1987: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments I'd hate someone catch me watching porn.

New Question: Did the fall tv shows you were looking forward to watching live up to your expectations!? Are you going to continue watching em or have you already given up!?

message 1988: by Valerie (new)

Valerie (rie10) | 166 comments Some yes, some are meh. Sleepy Hollow is definatly a keeper! Blacklist was one i was on the fence about watching but am addicted. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is one that I am somewhat 'meh' about. Good, but not great. And i recetly discovered Sons of Anaarchy. (only got cable in May). Totally addicted now. Really enjoying all the sci-fi and thriller/mystery shows on now. Since I don't do much, it has come in handy to have stuff to watch and get lost in.

the only shows that i really follow atm are game of thrones and true blood (not as much on true blood now tho). used to be spartacus too but it doesnt come on anymore lol.

message 1990: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Shield does nothing for me. But am enjoying Tomorrow People and Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. Although I can't get past the fact that the red queen looks like a over grown toddler with a tiara, lol. Pleased with my returning shows too.

Old question, I also wouldn't want to be caught watching porn or taking a crap either. Just need some privacy for some things.

message 1991: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 4 comments Legend of Korra is FINALLY picking up again, I was getting pissed at the direction they've taken but the past 3 eps were all good. S.H.I.E.L.D. is kinda meh I think the only thing that keeps me coming back every week are the science twins since they're really cute. HIMYM is also ending YAY! Once upon a time, and once upon a time in wonderland are ok. I could still do a better job compositing the wonderland shots, but it doesn't bug me too much.

Sleepy Hollow ROCKS! Favorite show this season.

I actually like S.H.I.E.L.D.

I haven't had the chance to watch Sleepy Hollow yet.

message 1995: by [deleted user] (last edited Nov 15, 2013 11:27AM) (new)

Has SHIELD gotten better? Our family started watching it but got bored. Guess we are too much of fans of the movies. Wanted to see some superheroes show up!

Sleepy Hollow is growing on me, I'm liking it.

I am trying to hang in there with Dracula with JRM. I'm looking for some more sizzle with ole Vlad the Impaler. Last week's episode was pretty good, so there may be some hope :)

message 1996: by Donna (new)

Donna D Newman | 16 comments I think it has, I was a bit unsure at first but I keep watching.

Yea I watched one episode of Dracula and I was a bit disappointed but give it another go though.

I also tried Reign, it's not bad just didn't hook me right away.

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments New Question:

Scenario: You are in a rushing, packing, packing, packing, for coming holiday or vacation traveling. You have everything you need and rush off to the air port. When you get there you realize you have forgotten something. What have you forgot? And is it something you normally forget when going on vacation or is it something different this time?

message 2000: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments Probably a pair of shoes or my favorite pants. I always forget something when I go somewhere and I probably wont remember until I get to the destination.
