Jennifer | 1747 comments reminds me of the gilmore girls (wont say who incase thatd be a spoiler for anyone).

i dont blame u. if it were me id want my biological child too.

what had me not wanting to take the money in consideration, not to say it wouldnt be in the back of my mind tho bc it would be, are ironically some talks ive had with one of my parents. i totally get what ure saying about them having more opportunities financially. personally speaking i dont think its up to the parents to pay for college tho since the kids are adults at that point and are the ones who are wanting to do it just like anything else in life. i do think that if possible the parents should help tho or if they do pay for all of it then their kid should do something to help some kind of way, such as working really hard on the education and not partying all of the time etc. LOL again other info from stuff >.> if u wanna talk about it we can talk on im. omg i used to know a girl irl who went to college 3 times and dropped out every time after one semester. the first time or the first two times the government paid for it bc of all of the major military stuff her dad had done when he was younger but the time after that her parents paid for it. after that they refused to pay for it anymore. plus they paid for all the stuff she needed every time she went. she just didnt like college. she even told me she only went for the college parties and it didnt matter since she wasnt paying for it. dear lord she was nuts i swear x.x lol. not to mention ungrateful :I.

Wait im lost, sis. do u mean harmed if they have a diff skin color or? oooooh nvm i understand now (just read the rest of that). yeah, good point. i mean, even tho its not manyyyyyy generations ago there are still a lot of crazy ppl out there. thats something that will never change. not everyone is always gonna think the same way, whether its good or bad.

oh no ure def right. i think that really by right, and the children would only be a year old anyways, the families should switch the children but if they didnt then itd be important to at least be a part of the biological parents lives.

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Oh no kidding, I'm not a big fan of the idea of parents paying for their kids college stuff either. Although when I was saying what I was saying, was because there are some families that do want to pay for their kids college education so they don't have to incur debt after they graduate. Which I totally admire, but know for sure wouldn't be happening with my kids. Totally go the route of paying for part of it. But I'd so encourage my kids to take up a trade school certificate or if they do go to college maybe spare an extra 2,000 for them. But beyond that, help them find financial aid in other ways or getting a job if they want to.

But on the flip side too, I would still feel like I would have to do something for that other child I would have hypothetically raised for a time too. So even if I couldn't do a whole lot, I would still want them to know when they got older that I still cared enough to help provide for them. And not just about yanking my kid back into my life and washing my hands of the one I raised temporarily.

And that chick is seriously ungrateful for sure if her parents were willing to pay for her college and she totally ruined it. I can get rebelling if they were paying for it but only if she only took the classes they wanted her to take. I so don't agree with that. But sounds like she in general didn't have the lady balls to tell her parents she just didn't want to go to college though. Which is even worse.

Jennifer | 1747 comments i completely agree with everything u just said O_O on the question of the day stuff.

ikr. she was a nutcase. i didnt like the guy she married but i felt sorry for him tbh LOL :I. she was taking the classes that she chose to take. no she wanted to go to college. shes the one who chose to go, her parents never forced her to. esp since she already had gone to beauty school and got certified in that. but she never really pursued anything with it other than just doing stuff for friends.

message 1854: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Huh, my bad for misunderstanding then. But still kind of a wasted opportunity if she didn't use that time wisely.

message 1855: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 1747 comments no worries. i prob didnt explain properly is all lol. ikr. crazy person o_o. wasted opportunity and wasted money from both her parents and the government.

message 1856: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments But sadly enough wouldn't be the first to squander and opportunity like that or do that to the Gov either.

Marvin jumps up the window in the ensuite. Hubby opened window to let breeze through (bed window open as well) and Marvin decided to get his claws into the flyscreen and couldn't get away. So I had to get up twice, third time I closed window and turned air con on. That was 5 am. (IT IS SUNDAY!!!). Anyway, I was bright awake then and hopped on fb. Then hubby convinced me to go to the doctors this morning (getting some prescriptions filled in). We had breakfast out of town and spent the afternoon at home reading and watching dvds.

message 1870: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Haha, I hear you. I don't have one either really. That is why as soon as I get enough money in the bank I want to race to the nearest wal-mart for computer games or over to Ellorascave for books too. Only thing saves me though is that they have a 2 weeks free thing they do over there now on various books. And enough of them have been ones I've wanted to read or considered reading even.

I bought two Stephanie Laurens books today. Don't have a budget, I buy when I can afford it.

message 1879: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments New Question: Do you think it is fair or right of an author's personal beliefs to filter into their work? Such as if they are very religious in daily life, do you think that should filter over to their series? If so, does it matter what genre the series is in or no? For instance if the series was say a PNR series vs. that of Christian Fiction.

message 1880: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 1747 comments i dont think it really matters tbh. if theyre catholic, hindu, or w/e and incorporate that into their stories and dont incorporate it into other stories its not really a big deal to me. as long as their personal beliefs that are part of the story actually make sense with being part of the story but if it doesnt make sense then they shouldnt include it imo.

message 1881: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments I see. So what if the author before was writing really steamy love scenes and had more of an edgier feel to their series previously. But suddenly came into a new faith and now the love scenes are toned down and characters suddenly should be married before having sex. Or even using even more toning down fighting scenes too?

message 1882: by Jennifer (last edited Oct 17, 2013 08:05PM) (new)

Jennifer | 1747 comments in the same book or diff series? if its a diff series then its ok lol but if its the same book series then thatd just be plain weird O_O

message 1883: by Carlena, Pumpkin Pie/Care Bear (new)

Carlena | 1753 comments Well it's their books, so of course they can.

message 1884: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (last edited Oct 17, 2013 08:17PM) (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Well I've read about this happening with 2 different authors. The first being Anne Rice with Wolf Gift, as former fans said she had such a style and grit to her previous series. But then when it came to Wolf Gift came out it was more philosophical and folks said there was a tinge of her religious beliefs coming through more in that book than ever before.

Second example was actually with Darkest Craving. To which I didn't realize til I saw some other reviews. Where people had said the love scenes were steamier and the like and there was more a edge in the past books. But for Darkest Craving suddenly the heroine wants to be married before being with the hero. The fighting wasn't what it formerly was. And they didn't realize the change til she started working on the spin-off Angel series.

So really had me thinking, was it fair of either author or even other authors to add that sudden perspective into things and change up what wasn't there before. Particularly making it more "preachy" sounding.

message 1885: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Carlena wrote: "Well it's their books, so of course they can."

Even if the series wasn't initially pitched as going in this direction in the first place?

message 1886: by Carlena, Pumpkin Pie/Care Bear (new)

Carlena | 1753 comments Yup. If the series tanks because of it, it's their fault.

message 1887: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 1747 comments it prob would of been best for that authors religious beliefs to not randomly come through her series like that since from the sound of it it sounds like a night and day kind of thing. would of been best to bring it into a diff series imo.

hm... i suppose it just depends on how the author wants the story to go (stories in general by any authors). stookie stackhouse series for example, the ending was horrible and readers were completely mad about the direction it went but in the end its the authors story no one else's. even if we do disagree with it. bc at the end of the day its a non-fiction story for entertainment purposes, whether we have strong feelings on the stories/reading in general or not. LOL even if some of those books are "throw out the window" type of books. haha.

message 1888: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments I agree mostly with Jennifer. An author should be able to write whatever they want and incorporate whatever beliefs they have into their story. I'm not going to hold it against. I will say this though, I'm not fond of books preaching to me or are overly religious unless I'm choosing to read a religious book (like Dan Brown books) otherwise its a no go for me. Thats just personal preference though. I still believe they can write what they want, just as I can choose not to read it

Carlena | 1753 comments My sentiments exactly shari

message 1891: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Good points ladies. Although I feel on the author's site though there should be like in their blog that the author is shifting in a new direction. As a reader I don't like things sprung on me when/if I'm going to buy the next book of a series, thinking I'm going to get the quality I'm used to. But later find out it's changed because the author saw Jesus in their toast.

message 1892: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments I do agree that an author should give his/her loyal readers notice of their work going in a different direction. Prime example, Anne Rice. I love her on Facebook and her blog, she keeps fans in the loop and always reaches out. After the death of her husband, she let fans know she no longer had the desire to write about death or Lestat (because his character was loosely based on her husbsnd) so Blackwood Farm, the last in the Vampire Chronicles she said her heart wasn't as into it. And she found religion after being an atheist for so long and wrote a christian series. So yes I do believe give your fans the courtesy of letting them know that your work is going to change

message 1893: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Ah that makes sense then for Anne Rice. There was a testimonial as well for Showalter changing things up, I think one review said on her site. Something with her health I think too. But still a regular blog entry or something wouldn't have hurt either.

message 1894: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments New Question: What would be your take on male actors finally engaging in full frontal nudity in movies? Do you think it would be as popular as female actress that have done it for years? Also if you are for it, who would you like to see in all his full frontal glory?

message 1895: by Manuela (new)

Manuela (manu21) | 2559 comments Old question: I think its the writers right to change things, if you have a series and everything is ABC all the time I wouldn't want to read the same stuff over and over again. Why not having a heroine with a different believe than to hump the hero all the time. I don't mind a bit KLM but I am not sure about XYZ in the same series either. In the end as a writer I would be cautious though, because smart readers just don't buy because it is your books but because they like the plot, have read the blurb on the back of the book and are aware of differences to previous books. I have read books and their sequels and didn't like the next book so didn't continue reading. Now if I were a paying reader the writer would miss out on my money (or part of it). Same writer, different series I have to get used to the different writing. Happened to me with Charlaine Harris (Sookie vs. Aurora Teagarden vs. Lily Bard)and MaryJanice Davidson (undead series "Queen Betsy" vs. BOFFO vs. Fred the mermaid), but I got used to it eventually. Even our beloved Sherrilyn K. goes that way as I believe that Evalle from the Alterant series has a very sheltered sex life while the heros and heroines in her DH universe and her Sentella universe are freely bonking away as soon as they have found their sig O. Not always is no sex equal to changes in religious believes. Sometimes different characters just are made of different needs and circumstances.

New question: I have seen Richard Gere when he was young and reckless full frontal and apart from my own pretty young age and my starting blooming sexuality males not always make a pretty picture full frontal. Since then I have seen my fair share of porn and even there are only a few I really would call beautiful. But then it is the same with females. If a sex scene makes sense to the story I don't mind nudity. If they are just doing it like rabbits, I call it porn, no matter as what the promotor wants to sell it. I have wondered how some of the books of SK would look like on the big screen as she has a fair share of story related hot sex in it.
Whom I would like to see in all his glory??? Hmmmm, good question. I have to ponder about that one for a while. ;)

message 1896: by [deleted user] (new)

I am not a fan of male full frontal nudity. I don't mind seeing a well sculpted male, but there are certain things I would like to leave to my imagination.
As Manuela stated, the view from the front is not always as good as it would seem.

message 1897: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments I'm not against it, I've already seen a few movies with full frontal nudity with males and only one made me giggle. HeHe! Then again it was a comedy sooo. It wouldnt be something that would turn me away or off though since I'm love the human body in all its glory. I don't think it would be as popular as female full nudity though. A womans body is a whole lot more sensuous and soft than a mans, pretty even. And since I've already seen Michael Fassbender's sexy ass and d#&k, my life is complete. :-D

message 1898: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments I'm of two minds about this. I mean a part joins the general consensus of it being about time male actors do some full frontal nudity. Rather it is done artistically or for a sex scene in a movie. Just to make it fair amongst actors for ALL of them to do this. However like Manuela, having seen my fair share of pornos and such. And although the male body is beautiful in it's musculature and strength. Seeing the frank and beans is not always all that appealing, no pun intended here, but head on.

Although I will say the only time it somewhat was, was in the first Sex and the City movie. But that was more of a side shot of things and the guy's body was still displayed at an attractive advantage. So it wasn't just dangly in the breeze randomly as he was in a outdoor shower of sorts. But beyond that, don't think America is ready for full frontal male nudity on the big screen. Just reserve it for private viewings so to speak at home. ;)

As for seeing a particular actor in his glory. As many actors as I admire and find attractive. I feel I would not be as into them if they didn't quite measure up to my ideal. So best to keep things to the imagination as Shari said. And all about the acting and less about, "He's ONLY that big?" sorta thoughts.
