hi everyone! My name is Dorie, I live in New York City. I love mysteries and thrillers, but when I browse through suggestions it's mostly the formulaic cookie-cutter Patterson-type books from authors who churn out 5 books a year.hope everyone is well, happy reading!
Welcome Dorie. You won't have to worry about that in this group. We have tons of different suggestions for great thrillers.

Hi - I'm Joyce and I'm a Seattle-based mystery author who grew up in New York. I love mixed genres - literary crime fiction for one - such as Michael Chabon's The Yiddish Policemen's Union. Look forward to hanging out here.
Hi everyoneI'm Paul from Sheffield in the UK. As well as reading (of course!) I love being out and about - running, hiking, cycling - especially in the beautiful Peak District National Park, which is pretty much my back yard. I also like food (cooking and eating) and do a little photography and writing, although have let those activities slide recently so really should make more of an effort.
I read a wide variety of genres - SF, detective, crime, literary fiction, pop science, history - and my favourite authors (off the top of my head, so ask me in five minutes and I might pick some different ones) include Iain M. Banks, Joseph Conrad, Val McDermid, Arthur Conan Doyle, Christopher Brookmyre, Kate Atkinson, Charles Stross, Umberto Eco, Tom Holland, Elmore Leonard, Dashiell Hammett.
My ambitions are to get back into writing and to travel more - to visit some of the amazing landscapes around the world - Yellowstone, the Black Forest, the Auvergne, the Great Rift Valley - and visit more of the great cities.
Welcome Joyce and Paul. @Joyce--I hope you will visit our author's section and tell us about your book(s) in our Promote Your Book Here thread.

Thank you, Christine. I will do as you recommend.
Thanks, Mike.
Hi all - thanks to Sean for telling me about this group. I have recently rediscovered my love of thrillers after not reading any for several years. In the last month or two I have read the Millenium Trilogy, plus Alex and am now reading The Hypnotist. The only problem I have with good thrillers is knowing when to put them down and get on with something I am supposed to be doing ;-)A bit about me - I live in the East of England, I dabble in a bit of art and craft and I am a full time mum to my homeschooled boys.
I look forward to being part of this group and to hearing your recommendations and views.
