I've a varied taste when it comes to reading, favourite genres include WW2 and Cold War fiction and non fiction. Detective fiction especially Poirot and the Harry Bosch series. Always enjoy a good thriller.
Look forward to reading other members reviews and recomendations.

I am not new to the group but have not been on here for a while - two years. I have been traveling and have had family issues. For a while I did not feel like reading.. no book interested me. The past two weeks I have read Janet Evanowich “Plum Spooky” .. not yet finished I am reading Nora Roberts
The Stanislavsky Sisters” - a old one! Just finished John Connolly’s “The Dirty South”, this was not a real thriller. It was kind of depressing which I thought did not really describe “The South” although I had thoughts of Texas when I was reading it (just got back from that area).
I hope to find more books in the Historical Fiction categories soon. Any suggestions???
Paige

Welcome new members, and thanks for introducing yourself.
I retired September 17th 2021, yes 2 months.
Now really mentally and physically enjoy life.
63 years old, but playing more sport than ever.
Tennis twice a week, Padel Tennis twice a week, now snooker once a week, if time allows
Plus volunteer at Jersey Zoo/Durrell Conversation as a ranger, so walk quite a lot.
Then I work as a volunteer at Jersey Animal Shelter, one a week, walking their dogs, walking come running, climbing.
As well as above, always busy in the garden, reading every night till late.
It sounds good because it is.... As you say "You must give a try", as I am sure many do want to!!
I was waiting so much to retire, many friends said, NO you will get bored !
I don't have time... More films, more series.... Long walks
No early mornings !
Enjoy the group new members
Jim, for you it will be slowing down !
Just sadly the loss of one of our four cats passing away, RIP Buddy

I’m Bruce, and I’m one of those infamous Florida snowbird retirees; my (also retired) wife and I spend winters in South Florida and summers in Connecticut. We both love to read, as well as watch TV, so the “stress” of being bored due to retirement (7 years from full-time work) has not been a problem, lol. There’s always something!

The question occurred to me because I saw several references to books and authors in what I’d regard as the “crime” genre (which seems to have correctly replaced “mystery,” as so many these days focus on the villain as much as on the protagonist, so there’s no “mystery” about whodunnit).
So IS there a difference between thriller and crime, and, if so, what is it?

Welcome Ariadna and Queralt to our group. Hope you enjoy it and please don't apologise for any lack of English. We're just happy our members join in! :)

Hi my name is Lynne I am from Connecticut. I am 50 years old. I read all over the map. I read based on my mood but my favorites are True Crime, Thrillers and Romance but I read a variety. I love to chat with other members about books :)

Welcome Lynn and Sharon
I have retired last September and read 11 books short of my total of 70 last year.
Found I was so busy doing so many things, but started well this year.
On book 5.
Hopefully would be nice if new members went to the "10 Random Facts". on our home general posts, add 10 things about yourself.
Maybe also join in with the groups "pages" books read.
Enjoy and please do join in
