I live in the Northeastern part of the United States, I am a retired school teacher and interested in contributing to the Challenge of reading 1,500,000 books in 2020. To date I have read approximately 70 books this year and have kept track of the pages. If I am accepted into this group should I list all of the books read so far and the number of pages.
I enjoy reading mystery and thriller book along with books about WWII, history and animals.
I look forward to your reply
Hello NuNu
Welcome to the group
Yes please, do add all your films.
Sadly we get more members but less members adding their totals to our pages for the year.
Would be great for more to add theirs...
Enjoy the group

A quick question. Should my list be posted on the Challenge Site 1,500,000 pages read in 2020 or on this Site? Thanks
Thanks, and yes that's great.
You can add to totals on this and also there is a page for your own 25,000 in 2020...
Up to you if you want to add to...

Hello and welcome Christopher,

My name is Kendall, and I'm one of the chicks on this account. We are very new to goodreads!
I love cooking, Pokemon Go, and (obviously) reading.
Some of my favorite authors are TJ Payne, Stephen King, Jeremy Bates, and Michele Campbell.
I live in Jacksonville, FL with my husband. We're both techies! I work for a local university in their IT department, and love my job.
Wonderful to meet you all!
Hi, welcome Mohammed,
we love thrillers here, lots of great recommendations...
Group reads, go to Pick It For ME (PIFM) each month members which book you should read out of 10 from your shelf...
Or Summer Book Pals, Lorrea can help you out with someone.

I think, I've found the right group. I read and write action thrillers. I've had a look through the discussions. Some great ones. I will join in on some of them.
I am a Canadian, living in London, Ontario, Canada. I had a varied career where I was everything from a river logger to a medical device distributor. In the latter role, I spent about 20 years in surgery most days of the week.
I've been retired and writing for a few years now. I will add more information in other folders.
Glad I found you.

Welcome Mickii and best wishes for your upcoming 19th!
Great to have so many young people who love to read books joining up to discuss books, etc.
Sorry to hear you are going through tough times re the Covid lockdown but looks like NY is doing relatively well at the moment. Hopefully it will only get better and better and you'll be as free as a bird!
I live on the other side of the world in Melbourne, Australia. We thought we were just about over it but things have really got bad, and we have gone into strict lockdown for the next six weeks and the way things are looking, could be for a lot longer with even stricter guidelines. Truly bizarre (and tragic) times!
Hope you find the group fun and I'm sure you will find loads of new friends on the site. Book people usually have a lot to chatter about!
Welcome Mickii
and welcome all new members.

There are a bunch of people here who will be happy to chat with you about books or life. Anytime you're feeling blue, pick a topic in the group and post something, anything really. As Anthony said,
"Hope you find the group fun and I'm sure you will find loads of new friends on the site. Book people usually have a lot to chatter about!"
Mickii wrote: "Hello everyone. My name is Mickii and I’m from New York. I am 18 years old but turn 19 in August, woo! I love to read books especially mysteries/thrillers. I’ve never been a part of a book club so ..."

My name is Sara, I live in London England and I love all genres especially detective, crime thrillers. I’ve read a lot of David Baldacci, Michael Connelly, Robert B Parker and Tom Wood.
I’m hoping to find some great new books to see me through the rest of Lockdown and the year, so looking forward to the discussions and great recommendations!

From The Nobel website
50 year secrecy rule
The Committee does not itself announce the names of nominees, neither to the media nor to the candidates themselves. In so far as certain names crop up in the advance speculations as to who will be awarded any given year’s Prize, this is either sheer guesswork or information put out by the person or persons behind the nomination. Information in the Nobel Committee’s nomination database is not made public until after fifty years.
Further from the Q & A section
What does it mean to be nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize?
Any person or organization can be nominated by anyone eligible to nominate. The Norwegian Nobel Committee has no say in submissions that arrives according to the criteria, strictly in who is actually awarded the prize in October. To simply be nominated is therefore not an endorsement or extended honour to imply affiliation with the Nobel Peace Prize or its related institutions.
Welcome David but I am interested in knowing how did you know you were nominated?

Hi Aditya, and thanks for your comment. You are correct about the Nobel Peace Prize nomination process insofar as you stated. In addition, while the rules bar the Committee itself from disclosing nominees, qualified nominators are permitted to inform nominees of their nomination. It's a common practice in fact. Here, for example, is a link to a Guardian article publicizing the nomination of environmental activist Greta Thunberg: https://www.theguardian.com/world/201...- thunberg-nominated-nobel-peace-prize. Similarly, in my own case, the qualified nominator informed me of my nomination.

It must have been a fascinating experience, though it surely would have involved a lot of struggle. Congratulations on the nomination and best of luck with your book.

I really love reading, films, comedy & music. I enjoy hiking & hill walking.
My favourite genre of book is mystery/thriller.
I have spend a few years in uni studying, so it's really nice to be able to read for pleasure now, as for the past few years I've only had time to read to help my studies.

Hey everyone. My name's Martina. I'm a 31-year-old SAHM to a sassy little 1 year old. I live in Nebraska. I love to read all things fiction and have a soft spot for thrillers especially. Looking forward to sharing and chatting w/you all. :)
Welcome, Martina and all our new members. Lovely to see you here. Peruse and jump in anywhere. Lots of places to chat!

I feel a total attraction for thick books. If it has more than 700 pages I want to read it and since I cannot quit a book once started sometimes this attraction becomes a real fatal attraction.

I am a major movie buff, watching movies and writing is my life. I enjoy a good thriller. I am working my way into the film industry.
Hello and welcome Tristan
I love my films, we have a large group of us who enjoy the films, and a great section of film subjects.
Enjoy

Thanks. Do you know if any group on here, has a place to review scripts or get feedback on them?
