message 6508: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Rivera Hi I'm Nilsa and I love reading thrillers and horror. Although I've been conveniently using audible book. I always end up downloading the kindle because I need the visual stimulation of reading a book. I've always written short stories and now writing my first novel but I join this group to make sure I'm reading as much as writing. How do the group work? Do you choose a book and everyone read it? Or there another system?

Hi Nilsa,

Welcome, sometimes we do things a little different.

Often we have a author member, who does a "Readalong for a month and Q & A 's at the end and during the month.

May's will be the book Absolution with Susan Fleet, her book will be free soon around April 26th to 30th.

Usually the authors kindly offer their book free or very little especially for the readalong.

We also have every month Book pals...

And also our ever popular "Pick It For Me", where you name ten books, or so and let the members pick your next book.

All on the home pages.

Stevie

I noticed ..Re Doris Day

Paula Adams (goodreadscompadams57) | 1590 comments Welcome to the group Nilsa. Doris Day was a one of a kind lovely lady. I love watching her movies on TCM or other cable channels. I love the fashions.

I enjoy participating in the author Readalong book of the month. The authors are great. We try to hold back until at least the middle of the month asking questions that will give away anythings for the members who haven't read the book yet.

Hope you will join us. Have fun reading.

Alice-Elizabeth (Prolific Reader Alice) (marriedtobooks44) | 4 comments I joined a while back but haven't posted here until now...

I'm Alice, a teen book blogger and reviewer from England. I have read books for publishers since January and have a book collection in my bedroom of around 400+ books. I am active on my Twitter (marriedtobooks3) and feel free to friend me here on Goodreads! I am reading a couple of thrillers at the moment: Behind Closed Doors and Brighton Rock.

message 6530: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Be careful, Maureen. Some of those "snowbirding" states are crazy. I'd vote for New Mexico, stay away from Florida, Texas, and Arizona. *shudders in horror*

message 6531: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale The natives of those states don't much care for "snow birds." I know. from having spent YEARS in Arizona. I lived there from 1989 to 2003.

message 6532: by Paula (new)

Paula Adams (goodreadscompadams57) | 1590 comments I don't think Maureen is going to be a snowbird. I am. But more of a live there 9 months of the year type. We already bought our house and are getting it ready.

message 6533: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale That's a snowbird, Paula...someone who lives in a warm climate 9 out of 12 months of the year.

message 6534: by Paula (new)

Paula Adams (goodreadscompadams57) | 1590 comments I know some that only go for 4 or 5 month out of the year.

Andrew | 7 comments Hi everyone! Andrew Warren here. I live in Los Angeles, and I have worked in the entertainment industry as a writer, story producer, and post production supervisor.

I've been writing for years, but I finally made the big push, and launched my my self publishing career. I write action thrillers, and my first novella, Devil's Due, is available for free. The next novel, in the series, Tokyo Black, will publish this summer!

Bradley West (bradleywest) Greetings, Goodreaders! I've been lurking for three (!) years, but have decided to come out of the cave here in Singapore and into the light. I write the "True Lies" blog (www.bradleywest.net) on the real life conspiracies and mysteries of Asia. These pieces on MH370, bin Laden's last years in Pakistan, Khun Sa, Nugan Hand Bank and others provide the raw material for the fictional "Lies" trilogy: "Sea of Lies" (MH370), "Pack of Lies" (MH17), and "End of Lies" (ISIS).

In ten days I'll be at the BEA fandango in Chicago and hope to meet a few thriller and mystery writers.
