How was Snow Child? That looks really good. I want to read
Between Shades of Gray and Snow Child seems similar.

Making me think about reading a 1,178 page book after finishing a 1,009 page book is just mean :) lol I won't be starting that one for a while

Rebecca I haven't seen the movie.

Rebecca NJ (njreader) | 2120 comments A small weekend update!!

Team A - 220 books
Team B - 235 books
Team C - 241 books
Team D - 196 books

By tomorrow we will be over 200 books!

Now, on to some important business:

1. Please double check to see if your profile is public. If it is not, please either add me or another team captain as a friend. We do need to see your shelves in order to verify your books.

2. Please try to remember to add your start dates. I have found that this is something that you will not be able to do from mobile devices and will need to log into the computer in order to add.

3. Keep reading!

Feel free to add your books here, talk about upcoming reads, etc.

Thanks Michelle for adding another one to my list :) I enjoyed Snow Child. The mystery and even the fairy tale that surround the girl was what drew me in.

The 1,000+ pages are a little overwhelming :)

Diane ~Firefly~ | 2438 comments @ Rebecca - I just finished Sealed with a Curse (Weird Girls, #1) by Cecy Robson and really liked it and am looking forward to book 2 later this year.

Just finished Wyoming Fierce by Diana Palmer . I loved this book and it is most certainly a tear jerker.

Just started Grace and Power The Private World of the Kennedy White House by Sally Bedell Smith .

Rebecca NJ (njreader) | 2120 comments Woo hoo!! Over 200 books! Keep up the good work everyone!

message 258: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ Finished Tart (Delicious, #2) by Lauren Dane enjoyed it but didn't realize I probably should have read the Laid Bare (Brown Siblings, #1) by Lauren Dane series first, lol. Oh well - I will get to it eventually:D
Still reading Me and My Ghoulfriends (Larue Donavan, #1) by Rose Pressey it's ok she keeps repeating herself. I'm hoping there is a reason for this otherwise it is kind of annoying. Started Rock Chick Redemption (Rock Chick, #3) by Kristen Ashley and am totally crushing on Hank -yum!!

@Michelle - nice job finishing A Clash of Kings (A Song of Ice and Fire, #2) by George R.R. Martin - those suckers are long. I'm slowly working on A Dance With Dragons (A Song of Ice and Fire, #5) by George R.R. Martin - usually a few pages at a time☺

message 259: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments Great work, Team!!

@Melissa - I've finally started Dances with Dragons. Yeah for me!!

I just finished I Own the Dawn (The Night Stalkers, #2) by M.L. Buchman and now I'm reading Thunder & Roses (Fallen Angels #1) by Mary Jo Putney and City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments, #2) by Cassandra Clare . Then I'll be starting Mortal Danger (World of the Lupi, #2) by Eileen Wilks .

Happy Reading everyone!!

No worries! I made it through the prologue and the first chapter.

message 262: by Donna (new)

Donna Wolczyk | 75 comments Well another awesome book is done!!! I just finished Still Alice by Lisa Genova . It was beautifully done, and a great read. I think it was so insightful into the life of someone with Alzhemier's, although it was definitely a tear jerker. Now I need to go find a good old who dunnit/murder to perk me up!! :)

message 263: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ Donna ~ I loved that book!! It was very insightful. I work at a long term care and rehab facility and recommended it to all the other nurses and social workers I work with. I had to read something light and fun when I was done with it.

message 264: by Tricia (new)

Tricia Schneider (triciaschneider) | 115 comments I meant to read a chapter or two of Only A Whisper by Gayle Wilson last night before I went to bed. I ended up reading the whole thing! I could not put it down! Of course, I woke up very tired this morning and had to take an afternoon nap. It felt like book-hangover, complete with headache! lol But, it was worth it. I liked the story so much, I kept thinking about it all day today. I'm going to read it again soon. Really, anything Gayle Wilson writes is awesome! I love her books!

message 265: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments Reading hangover! What a great term. I've had one or two or 15 or those in my life! Sounds like a fun book. At one point in my life I was a Harlequin junkie. I've never heard of this author, but I will check her out.

Okay team - a mini challenge will be coming your way sometime today, so be on the lookout!! This should be a fun way to find books to read this week!

message 266: by Jane (last edited Jan 15, 2013 02:35PM) (new)

Jane | 705 comments I have just finished Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China by Jung Chang. Now I need something light for my next read.

message 267: by [deleted user] (last edited Jan 15, 2013 11:43AM) (new)

I finished The Age of Miracles and The Tales of Beedle the Bard today.
I think I need to stop reading books that have less than 170 pages...

message 268: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ I finished Me and My Ghoulfriends (Larue Donavan, #1) by Rose Pressey it was just ok. Read it to fit a challenge. Should be done with Rock Chick Redemption (Rock Chick, #3) by Kristen Ashley tonight or tomorrow. This series is the bomb!!

message 269: by Marla (new)

Marla | 1803 comments Donna wrote: "Well another awesome book is done!!! I just finished Still Alice by Lisa Genova. It was beautifully done, and a great read. I think it was so insightful into the life of someone with Alzhemi..."

We read Still Alice for book club and it was really good. I loved the butterfly test.

message 270: by Marla (new)

Marla | 1803 comments I just finished Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth and The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater . They were very different, but both were very good IMO.

message 273: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ Finished Rock Chick Redemption. Off to look for blue covers, lol. Not sure I have many....

message 274: by Tricia (new)

Tricia Schneider (triciaschneider) | 115 comments A challenge...within a challenge. Awesome! I love the idea! And I love looking for books to meet challenges, too! Though really, I don't need much of an excuse to sort through my books. :)

message 275: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments My blue books so far that I have found to read. Not sure I can get them done in 5 days! But I'll try.

Mortal Danger (World of the Lupi, #2) by Eileen Wilks Until Proven Guilty (J.P. Beaumont, #1) by J.A. Jance Shadow of Night (All Souls Trilogy, #2) by Deborah Harkness For Darkness Shows the Stars (For Darkness Shows the Stars, #1) by Diana Peterfreund

@Marla - Divergent has been on my TBR for awhile. I have a YA challenge I'm doing this year and that is on the list.

@Melissa - do you like the Rock Chick series? I've heard mixed things but it looks like fun!

message 276: by Vi (new)

Vi | 1758 comments I'll start on the mammoth that is Gardens of the Moon (The Malazan Book of the Fallen, #1) by Steven Erikson . Also reading Good Omens The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Neil Gaiman which I am not enjoying that much. I fail to see what is hilarious :(

message 277: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments I'm sorry, Vi! Sick and reading a book you don't like. That is just too sad for words:={

message 278: by Reed (new)

Reed (reedraab) Oh no, Vi! I'm sorry to hear you don't like Good Omens! I'm reading along with the group and love it so much I'm contemplating putting it on my favorite shelf. There are so many types of humor and I find this one falls into the cynical yet silly category. The footnotes and asides have me giggling constantly. It also helps that Crowley is fantastic. I hope it gets better for you!

message 279: by Vi (new)

Vi | 1758 comments Luckily, I'm enjoying Gardens more even though I feel like I've been dropped in the middle of the world with little explanation.

Katie, I started off reading along with the group but I'm too sick to answer the qns and just participate. I can appreciate the silliness but it is just too long winded for my taste. I will finish the book because I want to see how it ends. I hope it gets better then too!

message 280: by [deleted user] (new)

Finished The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe today.
I love Nárnia.

message 281: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ @Leslie ~ Have you read any Kristen Ashley books? I heard about her from others in the TCF group. First book I ready her was Mystery Man. I have to say for me personally (ok ladies...I'm hiding while I'm saying this) I didn't like the H for a huge portion of this book. Loved the h in this book. You are introduced to the three men from the next three books in this series and they are all *sigh* fine. Had to finish and way glad I did. The Rock Chick series is just as good if not better than the Mystery Men series. They are just hilarious. I always find myself chuckling and it is about a bigger set of friends so more going on if that makes sense. I'm going to read For You (The 'Burg, #1) by Kristen Ashley this month which is the beginning of another of her series.
Oh Mystery Man (Dream Man, #1) by Kristen Ashley will work for the blue challenge if any are interested. BTW I did end up liking the H and h together by the end.

message 282: by ~Melissa~ (last edited Jan 16, 2013 08:40AM) (new)

~Melissa~ How much blue has to be on the cover to qualify for this? I have a book I need to read but just the l on the cover is wearing a blue top. Rest of the cover is different color.....

message 283: by Jane (new)

Jane | 705 comments I have three books with blue covers I might read.
De Novo Syndrome (DMB Files, #1) by Jim Buckner The Dog Stars by Peter Heller The Scourge by A.G. Henley

But how much I will read by Sunday, I don't know.

message 284: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments @Jane - it's all about the attempt and adding books to other people's TBR pile LOL!! Beautiful covers!

@Melissa - I think if there is at least something significant on the cover that is blue, that it's good. Not just a speck of blue. I think a blue top is good.
And yes, I have read one or two Kristen Ashley. I like her but I haven't been blown away by her books. I will have to try Mystery Men - that sounds interesting.

@Layla - great job! I love anything by C.S. Lewis. His spiritual writings are incredible.

I just finished City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments, #2) by Cassandra Clare and am also reading Of Noble Birth by Brenda Novak . And I will be starting Mortal Danger (World of the Lupi, #2) by Eileen Wilks .

message 285: by ~Melissa~ (last edited Jan 16, 2013 10:19AM) (new)

~Melissa~ Which Kristen Ashley books have you read? I'm just curious. I'm reading all of her's this year so if I haven't read them I'll get to them eventually, lol.
And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie ivefound this one at least so far for blue cover.
Here is the other one I was talking about By a Thread (Elemental Assassin, #6) by Jennifer Estep
Also I have to finish Iron Kissed (Mercedes Thompson, #3) by Patricia Briggs after the Jennifer Estep book and then I have Bone Crossed (Mercedes Thompson, #4) by Patricia Briggs . I think I have one more blue book if I can squeeze it in :D

message 286: by Tricia (new)

Tricia Schneider (triciaschneider) | 115 comments My first blue cover will be Wicked Business (Lizzy & Diesel, #2) by Janet Evanovich . I made a (too long) list of other books with blue covers, but I'm not sure how many I can read by this weekend. It was fun searching!

My list of possibilities:
The Norse King's Daughter (Viking I, #10) by Sandra Hill A Night Like This (Smythe-Smith Quartet, #2) by Julia Quinn In the Company of Vampires (Dark Ones #8, Ben and Fran #3) by Katie MacAlister Almost a Princess by Elizabeth Thornton What, No Roses? by Marianne Mancusi

message 287: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments Wellllllll, I thought I had read her, but I can't find a book on my shelf that has her name. I'm so confused. I don't know who I'm thinking about.

And the Elemental Assassin book is green in my opinion, though I would be happy to defer to someone else's opinion. The dress is not enough or the green is too much.

That is what I figured about the Jennifer Estep one. I still have to read it,lol.

Do you think it could be Jennifer Ashley you are thinking of??

You have a nice selection of blue cover books going Tricia. I want to read Wicked Business just not sure when I can get to it. I don't own it yet either. I just went book shopping today so trying to not buy anymore until Feb. Except for a couple ebooks I was planning on buying ☺

message 290: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ Does this qualify as blue or is it too light?? Mrs. Jeffries and the Mistletoe Mix-Up (Mrs. Jeffries Mystery, #17) by Emily Brightwell

message 291: by [deleted user] (new)

I have a question even though the blue cover started today I will be finishing a book today that has blue on it, does this book count?

message 292: by ~Leslie~ (last edited Jan 16, 2013 04:20PM) (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments @Marguerite - As long as you finish the book between Wed and Monday, the book will count.

@Melissa - I think that one counts. It's not too light. And I think that I was confusing her with Kristen Higgins. I don't know why I was but I was. Now I have to put Kristen Ashley on my TBR!!

@Tricia - Love your list of books! Blue covers are so pretty!

Team - remember to post your blue books on this thread when you finish so I can keep track! Happy Reading!

@Rebecca: What did you think of Back to the Bedroom by Janet Evanovich ? Did you like it? Mostly I read her Stephanie Plum books. I've read one or two of her romances, but they didn't grab me like the Plum books. I started reading her Wicked books simply because I love Diesel. Lizzy's starting to grow on me. I think I like Wicked Business better than the first one, so far.
