Tower Team D: Dangerously Determined to Devour All Books
So being a numbers gal, I just had to play around with my spreadsheet to see where things stand. Plus, I am totally bored at work at what I am doing. :-)Here is the link to the sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/c...
At the current reading pace Team B will finish the challenge on or around October 31st, with Team C hot on their heels finishing on November 2nd. Unfortunately, we are not currently reading at a pace to complete the challenge in 2013 and will wrap things up January 12th.
What I learned, besides finding out I need to read faster, is that the widget is showing progress for the entire year. So if you look at the pace and it says you are on track that is to finish December 31st not early to win. Just some "fun" thoughts to keep in mind.
But it is truly amazing at how many books are being read!
I love what you did, Sherri! But I think that the other teams will not be able to maintain their current reading pace. We've gotten off to a slow start for a number of different reasons, but I think we will pick up the pace as the year moves along.
Yes, Sherrie. I was playing around with these numbers today, also. I think you need to read Marguerite's PM, as I can guess what it says.
FYI: If we complete the challenge too early, we can always go for Round II. ☺

@Leslie, @Moderators - I agree that everyone is on the excitement train along with myself. I just surprised myself by "finally" realizing how to interpret the progress widget (don't follow it) and how long we are in for. But its all for fun and hopefully I can reduce my reading pile while enjoying the fun. Numbers have always interested me (hence being an engineer) and a bored mind does wander. But heck, I'm still impressed with what we are doing on Team D2 to DAB to care where we finally finish.
Challenge, challenge, challenge.......... ;-)
Sherri - I literally LOL'd. I am a complete numbers girl and engineer as well (hence the last update stating that we've collectively read 120,000 pages!) The sad thing is, I too started a spreadsheet similiar to this trying to figure out how we were all comparing. I agree with Leslie that I think we'll pick up soon. It seems that we have a good number of people who are in school or teachers and are really busy right now.
I love a good widget!! And I love the variety on our team.@Marguerite - I replied with a question. As soon as I get your answer I will be able to post our next mini challenge. Yay!! Happy Dancing in my living room.
Leslie check inbox.
Rebecca yes I am.lol
Rebecca yes I am.lol

Marguerite's Mini Challenge!

WHEN: Friday January 25 - Tuesday January 29
HOW: Post covers of books you have read. Any book completed on Friday will count and any book completed by midnight Tuesday.
TIE BREAKER: The method used to determine the winner in case of a tie will be kept secret.
Leslie check your inbox. Just sent you a message.
Leslie you are very welcome!!!!
Glad to see the date change. I was disappointed to think I would have to wait until February to read red.
I just knew red was going to be next....hmmm maybe I should go play the lotto, lolTime to go check the shelves for red books....
I just finished a red cover book too 8( oh well
interesting - kind of wild like the author wasn't exactly sure where she wanted to go with the series so she put a lot in this first one?!? 3♥Also finished
today 4♥ I love Gin and Owen....Bria kind of annoyed me for most of this book but otherwise a good read as usual
The red book looks interesting Melissa! Here are possibilities for the red Challenge:
(not sure these last two have enough red).
Melissa and Sherri, I am sure looking forward to red.rofl Sure hope red fires us up,lol to outdo the last challenge in number of books read!!! We can do it!!!
Leslie they look good to me. The last one with the red writing on the top and bottom I feels qualifys it as red, otherwise it wouldn't of been enough red. Just my opinion.lol
Leslie wrote: "The red book looks interesting Melissa! Here are possibilities for the red Challenge:

[bookcover:Heart of a Knight|978858..."The red one was interesting - it's hard to describe but what had me laughing was that this author would take a whole page to describe clothing which for me (and I do like clothes) was a little excessive ~ that being said it was .99 on my nook and for that price was def worth it.
Midnight tonight can't get here fast enough for me.lol
Loving the red covers!!! Way to go, way to go, ho ho!!!!

Melissa - I've got to stop looking at what you read -
looks like an interesting read.
Rebecca sure am and rubbing my hands together with glee.rofl

Melissa..."
It really is and if you have a nook it is definitely reasonable!! Vampires, werewolves and premonitions....Oh My!!
Melissa not only that a lot of the books men reads has red on the cover as well. Come on men lets see if you can outread us women. The reason I picked red is because my Hubby is reading a book with lots of red on the cover.rofl
Marguerite wrote: "Melissa not only that a lot of the books men reads has red on the cover as well. Come on men lets see if you can outread us women. Rebecca the second book to me looks more orange than red. JUst my opinion.
Do we have any men on our team...that's a terrible thing to ask but I don't think I've read any male posts on our thread,lol@Marguerite maybe you could have your hubby join our team for the weekend with his red covers☺
Rebecca that is interesting!!!!
Wow, I'm amazed at how few red covers I have. Lots of orange that I need to read, but not a lot of red.
Melissa I just asked Hubby and he said he reads by the page not by the book, because he don't read thin books. He is ok with red on the cover.lol
@Melissa - We have at least 1 male member on the team. He hasnt posted anything here but has been reading steadily.
Sherri, All your books look good except for the third one. If the writing had been red as well, maybe that would make it okay. But there just isn't enough red, in my opinion. Any other captain want to weigh in. But those look like interesting books! I've had Dearly, Departed on my TBR for awhile. Interested to hear what you think. And Rebecca, I think the orangish cover on your book is okay. Red has so many shades and I think that one qualifies. I love all your covers. What are you going to read first.
@Melissa - I haven't read Kresley Cole in a very long time. I can't even remember what this series is about.
@Marguerite - yay for husbands!! My husband thinks I'm slightly nuts with all this. And yes to beating last challenge on number of books read. That number was 24!
And don't forget team, if you started a book with a red cover today and finish it tomorrow, it will count.
I haven't read Kresley Cole in a very long time. I can't even remember what this series is about.I'm on #5 of this - The world of the Lore ~ it has all the supernatural creatures as well...vampires, shifters, fae, demons etc
OOOHH I can start reading #5 tonight
if you think this is red enough!!
Rebecca wrote: "@Melissa - We have at least 1 male member on the team. He hasnt posted anything here but has been reading steadily."Well now I just feel bad,lol ~ he should join the chatting and not be a stranger....we don't bite....unless we are asked nicely ☺
Leslie check your inbox please.lol
Sherri, I agree with Leslie. I think
is a little too much blue - sorry. @Leslie - I think it's going to be
. It's a bit of a problem with library books I have to read in the next week or so...none of which are red.
I have a red bookcover bookshelf called
zzcover-red
, if you all want to check it out. I haven't marked them all. There are a few Mysteries, but I mostly read Romance.
Thanks, Lisa Kay!! That's a big help! And I agree, Rebecca. It is hard right now. End of month - I have certain books I have to read. But your covers sure are pretty!

Thanks Lisa Kay. I started the same kind of shelving system as I recently joined another challenge that will use cover color.
Hello, I'm Melissa and I'm a book challenge addict,lol

Thanks for the additional cover ideas for our team. Can I say, yet again, you amaze me! Look at all those shelves. First all the photos and then mad organizational skills. :)
