Sherri | 726 comments I finished The Bite Before Christmas (Argeneau, #15.5; Night Huntress, #6.5) by Lynsay Sands , also doesn't count for anything but the total, but it was fun.

message 1352: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments @Gayle- thanks! It's a recurring issue - it comes and goes. My doctor is sending me to Mayo in the next couple of months to figure it out.

@Marguerite - I haven't put it all together yet. Our next mini challenge might be slightly delayed. Sorry!

message 1353: by [deleted user] (new)

Leslie didn't know you was sick. I hope you get better soon. As for the challenges no problem, your health comes first!!!

message 1354: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ Leslie - hope you feel better soon☺ Glad you enjoyed Mystery Man!!

Finished today Cut & Run (Cut & Run #1) by Abigail Roux this is the first in a series. I really enjoyed it -
it's a M-M book so not everyone's cup of tea. FBI characters - so mystery book... I did figure out whodunnit, lol

Thanks everyone! Just to explain a little. I have a non-cancerous tumor on my adrenal gland that causes my blood pressure to randomly skyrocket and plummet. I'm on many medications to control it and sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. This is why I can only work occasionally, but have so much time to read!

Anyway, I don't usually talk about it, but I wanted to explain why I'm not okay one moment and then fine the next.

message 1356: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ Leslie - I hope when you go to Mayo they are able to develop a medication plan for you that is more steady (if that makes sense). I'm sure it can be very frustrating for you.

message 1357: by Donna (new)

Donna Wolczyk | 75 comments Leslie - I hope you find something that works better for you. I will send prayers and good thoughts your way!! :)

Deedee | 626 comments Just finished The Best of All Possible Worlds by Karen Lord -- recommended if you like science fiction novels like The Left Hand of Darkness and Never Let Me Go. Too late for Captains challenge and too late for the grey challenge (little grey elephant in the lower left hand corner of the cover).

I liked that one - too cute and sooo like a dachsund. They have to be in everything of yours, lol

message 1367: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments @Melissa - I have had several dachsunds in my life. They are very special dogs!

I am reading City of Glass (The Mortal Instruments, #3) by Cassandra Clare and By Grace Possessed (The Three Graces, #2) by Jennifer Blake Two very different books LOL!

message 1368: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ We have a really sweet one that we just rescued earlier in August. We've always had large dogs so for me it a has been a little different.

I liked it :) . I was trying to communicate with my comment that this novel is "literary science fiction" rather than Star Wars and lasers (which I also like to read!)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments ~Melissa~ wrote: "We have a really sweet one that we just rescued earlier in August. We've always had large dogs so for me it a has been a little different."

My mom had a long hair standard dachsund named Paubet. She weighed close to 40 lbs.

message 1372: by Rebecca NJ (new)

Rebecca NJ (njreader) | 2120 comments I hope everyone has been having a good week!

It's been a slow reading week for me but I managed to finish The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker and What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty .

Now off to find the next book... :)

Ours is tiny - weighs about 15ish lbs

message 1374: by Reed (new)

Reed (reedraab) @Leslie- I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers! Keep on reading and smiling and thank you for being such a fun presence on this Team. :-)

@Rhonda- How are you liking John Corey? I LOVED his dry wit.

message 1375: by Rhonda (new)

Rhonda | 550 comments @Katie - I like him so far. I'm not quite halfway into Plum Island. There was a bit of a dry spell describing the island and it's procedures, security, etc., but I'm coming out of that now and the story is moving pretty quickly again.

@Leslie - I think I can relate to what you're going through. I have lupus and never know how I'm going to feel from day to day. Hard to plan things in advance! Keep your chin up - easier to see where you're going that way.

message 1376: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments Good morning,Team!

Thank you for the kind words and prayer.

@Rhonda - I have an aunt who has Lupus and it is a very similar experience. She is such an inspiration to me. That is such a difficult illness. I will be keeping you in my prayers.

I finished City of Glass (The Mortal Instruments, #3) by Cassandra Clare this morning. I don't want to start anything new until tomorrow because of two team challenges I'm doing, so I will be working on books I've been slowly reading.

message 1377: by Donna (new)

Donna Wolczyk | 75 comments I just finished Love You More (Detective D.D. Warren, #5) by Lisa Gardner , I believe it qualifies for March mystery!!

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3793 comments Finished The Dog who Came in from the Cold (Corduroy Mansions, #2) by Alexander McCall Smith today. I'm going on vacation tomorrow so hopefully I'll get a lot of reading done on the plane and by the pool! :)

message 1379: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (daughterofoak) | 3473 comments Finished Dracula by Bram Stoker last night. It was really good, and I can't believe I've never read it before.

message 1380: by Rhonda (new)

Rhonda | 550 comments Is it to late to get in on the March Mystery challenge?

message 1381: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments Absolutely not, Rhonda! All you have to do is post the cover of a book you've finished and let us know that it's been shelved as Mystery by at least 10 people. The contest runs through March 26th ( I think).

@Donna - I've read the first in that series and would like to get back to it. I like this author.

message 1382: by Rhonda (last edited Mar 14, 2013 11:56AM) (new)

Rhonda | 550 comments I've read a few mysteries this month. To save space I'll put what I've read to this point that qualify in this one post rather than several posts.
Full Dark, No Stars by Stephen King Fear the Worst by Linwood Barclay Eyewall by H.W. "Buzz" Bernard The Abduction of Mary Rose by Joan Hall Hovey Birdsongs by Jason Deas

All of these meet the shelving requirement.

Just finished a free book for review. Katherine in this book is learning all about being a collector and it means to be one. She also has found out that the man she loved is not a collector and that is a whole other story. This is certainly a must read.Just finished a free book for review. Rebecca NJ (njreader) | 2120 comments I am currently reading Sealed with a Curse (Weird Girls, #1) by Cecy Robson The Hollow (Sign of Seven, #2) by Nora Roberts and Death of a Kitchen Diva by Lee Hollis . It looks like the last two will work for the mystery challenge.

message 1390: by Deedee (new)

Deedee | 626 comments Just finished epic fantasy novel Lord of Snow and Shadows (Tears of Artamon, #1) by Sarah Ash . Enjoyable; recommended for fans of epic fantasy. This book had been around my TBR for awhile, and the recent mini-challenge bumped it up to the top. (grey cover; author's name Ash). Finished it too late for the mini-challenge.

Almost done with HHhH A Novel by Laurent Binet ; and, about a third way through Haunted Ground (Nora Gavin, #1) by Erin Hart (which will count for mystery if I finish it in time)

message 1393: by Alley (new)

Alley (alleycatfish) | 198 comments Just finished Key Lime Pie Murder (Hannah Swensen, #9) by Joanne Fluke . I really like this series, but Hannah is starting to annoy me a little with her stringing along 2 guys and her Luddite tendencies. Counts for the March mystery challenge.

Planning to start Death of a Bore (Hamish Macbeth, #21) by M.C. Beaton and Ghouls Gone Wild (Ghost Hunter Mystery, #4) by Victoria Laurie soon - both will count for mystery challenge.

I've always wanted to try the mystery series by Joanne Fluke.
And glad to know that Plum Island was good.
