Tower Team D: Dangerously Determined to Devour All Books
First, some bookkeeping:
is shelved 68 times as ROMANCE -- I want to make sure that it "counts" for the February Romance challengeThen, for the captains challenge: I started reading
on Feb. 25. If I finish it today or tomorrow, does it "count" in the challenge?Meanwhile, the other book I'm reading I started today:
- enjoying it so far!
Leslie tell your son way to go, way to go,ho ho!!!!!
Leslie wrote: "Okay! The competition is on!! Come on team members!!Just thought I'd share - my son just found out he was accepted to his first choice Law School and offered almost a full ride scholarship! Yay!!!"
Congratulations!!!
Thanks, everyone!! We're still waiting to hear from one other school. But this was his number one choice.@Deedee - unfortunately the romance challenge ended. But if you finished it at anytime today after midnight, it will count for our new mini challenge. Also, the book Pirates will definitely count toward the mini challenge as well.
In case people are confused, we have 2 challenges going on right now.In Like A Lion Mini Challenge: Wed - Sun; read anything on your TBR and post it here!
Captains Challenge: Feb 27 - March 10; all books read and posted on thread count in the read-off.
There will be a monthly challenge posted soon. Be on the lookout for it!!

Nope, finished it yesterday. Ah well, on to the next mini-challenge!
I finished
today. I really enjoyed this one! It's set in WWII-era Britain and the hero is a wounded RAF pilot. I don't read many romances set during this time period, but I'm going to start looking for more!

Looks like Team D is a happening place. I can't wait to see what the team is going to read!
Looks great, Vi!! I'm so excited for the mystery challenge. I have a feeling my TBR will be groaning as I check out what everyone will be reading. For the mini challenge: I just finished
and I started
. This one is a re-read, but I read it a while ago. I also should be finishedwith
today. Third time around and I am liking it better.
For the mini challenge: I finished
after breakfast, and
while I was waiting to pick up my daughter from school. Now I have no active book going -- very unusual for me -- what to pick, what to pick.
lol

I think the author got out her thesaurus and tried to use as many adjectives as she could in every paragraph. And the characters just did not seem real to me."
....thesaurus.... that cracked me up ☺
for me some of it was very predictable, I did like the 2 main characters but some of it just not all that believable and a little too "pat" if that makes sense...
@Melissa - I swear there was one paragraph I counted 9 adjectives. You know somethings not right, when you are counting adjectives!@Kristin- me, too!!! I have two that I already checked out from the library as ebooks.
Just finished "Immortal in Death" - J. D. Robb
Please add to the In Like a Lion, Captain's Challenge and March Mystery Challenges.
On to "Stalking the Angel" - Robert Crais
Go Elvis!
Have you checked out some of the GRs lending groups for those, Kristin? Plus, you could drive to the nearest big city library one day and join theirs, then do the downloading from home.
I just finished -
...a 1 star for me. This will fit the Captain's Challenge and In Like a Lion. For some reason, the hardcover is 180 pages (whew, just makes it for the challenge) but the audio book was 7 hours. And let me tell you, it was a very painful 7 hours.
I had such great hopes for this book and was significantly disappointed. I downloaded the audiobook on a whim earlier this month from the library and it was to expire today. Maybe I just didn't get the humor, or maybe it was the narrator, but I still don't quite get what it really was about except the flight was cancelled and he was way too bitter.
Just getting caught up from the last day or so.@Chris - Dangerously Devouring Dudettes!! I love this!!
@Leslie - That is great news!
Lisa Kay wrote: "Have you checked out some of the GRs lending groups for those, Kristin? I use my mom's as well as my own.
Leslie wrote: "@Melissa - I swear there was one paragraph I counted 9 adjectives. You know somethings not right, when you are counting adjectives!"Wow - that is a ton of adjectives Yikes!
Just finished
by Maya Banks. 2nd in the KGI series. I really like this series, so I think I'll bump up the rest on my TBR.Should count for both In Like a Lion and the Captains' Challenge
I should finish
by Kathleen Woodiwiss this weekend. It's a good read but very dense - small print on big pages takes a while to read. I also have at least 4 mystery/suspense novels planned for March, so yay for the monthly challenge!
I finished
which should count towards the mini (In Like a Lion) & the Captain's challenge. I loved it. Definitely will be picking up the next book in series.
[image error] Good morning, Team!! Lots of reading going on. So many books I want to read.
I just finished
Second time around and I loved it again. I have started
I needed to read this for a February challenge. Oops!!
I finished
which will count toward the Captain's Challenge and In Like a Lion. I couldn't put it down!
I finished two books yesterday.
and
both were on my TBR as I needed to read them for the Literary Exploration - insane challengeThey both qualify for Like a Lion and Captains Challenge.
Wow, some amazing reading going on!!Quick Update: 17 books have been read for the In Like a Lion Mini Challenge. Rebecca is in the lead with 4 books. Way to go, Captain Rebecca!! Here's a Thumb's Up for everyone!
started
after midnight last night and just finished on my lunch hour. whoowhee cowboys! should work for Like a Lion and Captain's challenge ~ no mystery but that's ok we have cowboys, lol
@Vi - is it finish the book on March 1st for the mystery challenge, or start the book? Also - I have a difficult history with Outlander. This is my third attempt. And I have to say, I liked it better this time. Gave it 4 stars. But I skipped over the part I didn't like. Still not crazy about Claire (main character), but Jaime (our Highland hero) makes up for it. I feel about Highlanders the way Melissa is feeling about cowboys! The more the merrier!
@Melissa - I'm not sure I could read that book at work. I would be blushing too much (and yes, I can still blush!). Are you headed on vacation?
I just finished
by Mercedes Lackey. It counts for both the In Like a Lion mini challenge, and the Captains' Challenge.
Leslie wrote: "@Vi - is it finish the book on March 1st for the mystery challenge, or start the book? Also - I have a difficult history with Outlander. This is my third attempt. And I have to say, I liked it bet..."
I usually only read on my break and try to do that when no one else does so I have the room to myself, lol
We leave for vacation tomorrow - going to Orlando. Not great weather but 60's -70's is better than Chi-town weather!!
For people who have a nook, the free friday selection (also available for Kindle) is a book that qualifies for the mystery challenge. Here is the link:
B&N: The Taken

Thx - I downloaded it! Not sure if I'll get to it soon or not.
Leslie - it's finish the book between March 1 & 26 for the mystery as wellI did Outlander as a BR with loads of other people and it was fun. The reason was the host of the BR - she was awesome. Always replied to everything and the discussion was very lively. I've tried picking up the next book
but I have been unsuccessful so far. I'm going to give it another try this month. Hopefully it clicks!
I'm reading the second one next month. I'm not sure if I've read that one or not. I seem to remember that I started it, but I don't think I finished it. I can imagine that reading it with other people would help. Same with Game of Thrones! You need someone around when you want to throw the book at the wall! Thanks for the clarification! Kristin's Sookie Stackhouse book will qualify for the mystery challenge.
I just finished
This qualifies for the mini Challenge and the captain's challenge. I love Nalini Singh!!
I have started
which is another holdover from February challenges.I have several books for the mystery challenge I'm planning on reading, but I won't be able to get to them for a couple more days.

I see that you liked Bound by Blood. I just could not like that book. It made me crazy."
