~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments Woo Hoo, Team D!!! Way to go!!!

And yes, Rebecca - any cover with sky on it, will work. That does help alot.

message 1058: by Vi (new)

Vi | 1758 comments Welcome Marissa!

I couldn't update for a while since I didn't have GR access that much. Right now, I'm reading World War Z An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks and Beyond the Highland Mist (Highlander, #1) by Karen Marie Moning (Yes, I've taken the leap finally!). I don't think either of them qualify for the mini but the KMM would qualify for the monthly.

message 1059: by Marla (last edited Feb 21, 2013 09:57PM) (new)

Marla | 1803 comments February Romance Books:
Cinder (Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles, #1) by Kami Garcia

Just finished Becoming Odyssa Epic Adventures on the Appalachian Trail by Jennifer Pharr Davis https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&a... (actual cover of my book). For mini challenge weather. WOW!!!! What a book and what courage Odyssa had to walk most of the AT alone. This book is a page turner and I felt as if I was beside her all the way through all the ups and downs. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

Just started the blind side by Michael Lewis https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&a... (actual cover of my book.

message 1061: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments Great books everyone!! Everyone's reading books that are made into movies - interesting!

@Vi - I love the highlander series by KMM. Hope you are enjoying.

I just finished
Stolen Heat (Stolen Trilogy #2) by Elisabeth Naughton works for the mini challenge and for Romance.
Next, I'll be reading Venom (Elemental Assassin, #3) by Jennifer Estep
This will also count towards the mini challenge.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Marguerite, I'll combine that with the other books and add a cover. Is that one a paperback, hardcover, Kindle, eBook, audio? What?

message 1065: by Rebecca NJ (new)

Rebecca NJ (njreader) | 2120 comments Last night I finished All Fall Down by Megan Hart which fits for the weather challenge.

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments Way to go team!! Let's get to a 1000!!! We can do it!!

@Rebecca - well, I don't like to watch things about Katrina, but I thought I could read a book. But no! I really want to read this author, so I'll have to start with another book.

@Mraguerite - great job!

message 1069: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ Finished both Backstage Pass (Sinners on Tour, #1) by Olivia Cunning totally awesome hot read - 388 classify as Romance and Dark Defender (Paladins of Darkness, #2) by Alexis Morgan which I think with the Sun in the middle of the St Louis arch classifies for the mini weather challenge and 43 classify as a Romance

message 1070: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments You read that book, Melissa! You brave woman, you.

~Melissa~ Lisa Kay wrote: "You read that book, Melissa! You brave woman, you."

hmmmm....would you be talking about Backstage Pass (Sinners on Tour, #1) by Olivia Cunning ?? It really was good. I genuinely liked both Brian and Myrna. Sed was a totally different story but I'm sure by his book I will probably like him as it seems he has back story for us to find out about (view spoiler)

message 1072: by [deleted user] (new)

Lisa Kay thank you and it is paperback

message 1073: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments Just finished Venom (Elemental Assassin, #3) by Jennifer Estep and it qualifies for the mini challenge. I am rapidly becoming obsessed with this series, and if anyone is looking for a good UF series, I highly recommend it.

I'm not sure if I have any others that qualify for the mini challenge. I'm looking!

It's rapidly becoming my favorite series since Kate Daniels. I'm totally sucked into the world she's created and I love the people and want to go hang with them at the barbeque place!

Okay, please tell me if this cover qualifies for the mini challenge. I am reading
Beyond the Night (Envy Chronicles, #1) by Joss Ware
I think that's sky I'm seeing.

message 1080: by Jane (new)

Jane | 705 comments A wee update on my romance reading of the month. I haven't read anything for this week's mini challenge.

Exclusively Yours (Kowalski Family, #1) by Shannon Stacey Twist (Mageri, #2) by Dannika Dark Cross My Heart (Landry, #2) by Abigail Strom Magic Study (Study, #2) by Maria V. Snyder Touch of Power (Healer, #1) by Maria V. Snyder Always the Designer, Never the Bride (Emma Rae Creations, #3) by Sandra D. Bricker

6 romance book this month.

message 1081: by Vi (new)

Vi | 1758 comments Melissa - I just finished Highlander. It was as you ladies said - PNR lite. I liked it okay; I was not that crazy about it. Adrienne was irritating most of the times. Hawk was ok and thankfully he didn't become an alpha-hole. Since I can't read series out-of-order, I'm planning to read till book #3 at least before deciding anything. Thanks for the push to read this series! I'm glad I did :)

message 1082: by Diane ~Firefly~ (new)

Diane ~Firefly~ | 2438 comments Finished Scrumptious by Amanda Usen which 33 people shelved as romance.

message 1083: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments Vi - the series really gets good on the 3rd one. The second one can be skipped, it really has no bearing on the series at all. I liked it, but the 3rd should really be the first one in the series. So don't give up!

Leslie is totally right - #2 can be skipped. Both 3 and 4 were really good. Can't say abut the rest as I will be reading #5 this month

I read the whole series a couple of years ago and remember liking them all. I am in the process of re-reading them. Just finished #3 and will be reading #4 soon. But I will say that I have very low standards when it comes to time travel and highlanders!

@Marguerite - did you see the movie? And if you did, was the book as good?

message 1088: by Deedee (new)

Deedee | 626 comments Hi all - currently reading
A Storm of Swords (A Song of Ice and Fire, #3) by George R.R. Martin (almost done - very violent)
Letters from the Earth Uncensored Writings by Mark Twain (almost done - not as good as his other stuff)
Corrupting Dr. Nice by John Kessel (almost done - too influenced by the OJ Simpson trial)
The Restorer (Graveyard Queen, #1) by Amanda Stevens (just begun)

message 1089: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments Wow, Deedee - what an eclectic selection! And yes, the third Fire and Ice book is violent. And I've heard good things about The Restorer. Interested to hear what you think.

message 1090: by ❉⊰Gayle⊱❉ (new)

❉⊰Gayle⊱❉ (ziastar) | 67 comments I just finished Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changeling, #1) by Nalini Singh ? Very good. You all convinced me to read this series. It qualifies as a romance. As for the mini challenge, it looks like he is surrounded by clouds?? Or smoke?? You decide if it counts.

I've just begun reading The Restorer (Graveyard Queen, #1) by Amanda Stevens ? Good so far.

message 1091: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments @Gayle - this cover works for it Leopardenblut (Psy-Changeling, #1) by Nalini Singh
Gotta love alternate covers!! Glad you liked it. It's one of my favorite series and it just keeps getting better and better.

message 1092: by Sherri (last edited Feb 24, 2013 02:57PM) (new)

Sherri | 726 comments I'm starting Three Sisters (Blackberry Island, #2) by Susan Mallery .

Just finished Crucible of Gold (Temeraire, #7) by Naomi Novik (just kinda eh but I still love Temeraire).

message 1093: by [deleted user] (last edited Feb 24, 2013 02:59PM) (new)

Leslie to me the movie The Blind Side was better than the book. Which I find strange because to me the book is always better.hmmmmm

message 1094: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments I did love the movie! The mom reminded me of so many women that I know. It was pretty funny.

message 1095: by Rebecca NJ (new)

Rebecca NJ (njreader) | 2120 comments Deedee - I'm curious to see what you think about The Restorer (Graveyard Queen, #1) by Amanda Stevens . It looks really interesting!

message 1096: by Rebecca NJ (new)

Rebecca NJ (njreader) | 2120 comments I finished The Mind Readers (The Mind Readers, #1) by Lori Brighton which fits both the weather challenge (blue sky in the background) and the month long challenge (shelved as romance by 40 people).

message 1097: by ❉⊰Gayle⊱❉ (new)

❉⊰Gayle⊱❉ (ziastar) | 67 comments I've finished The Restorer (Graveyard Queen, #1) by Amanda Stevens . It was not at all what I was expecting...much better in fact. I would read the next in the series. It is listed as romance, and I found an alternate cover that shows a hint of sky behind the angel's wings, so it qualifies for the mini challenge. Alternate cover Totenhauch (Graveyard Queen, #1) by Amanda Stevens

message 1098: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments 1 hour left! I'm desperately trying to finish my book!

message 1099: by Vi (new)

Vi | 1758 comments I finished The One That Got Away by Kelly Hunter last night. I can see sky so it should qualify for the mini and the monthly too, I loved this book! I liked Logan and Evie - though I do think this book would have been served better by a longer length. And this is one book where the author should have shown the bedroom. Unfortunately she did not.

message 1100: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ Last night I finished Seduction and Snacks (Chocolate Lovers, #1) by Tara Sivec 249 users classified as Romance. This book was hilarious - I was laughing so hard at parts I had tears streaming down my face. My daughter kept looking at me strangely and asking me to read my book elsewhere, lol
