Now that GR has original and recent publishing dates are we allowed to read a newer edition of a book originally published in the 60’s or 70’s?

Well, 2010-2019 was pretty easy... it helped that I was reading a series where a book came out every year! Not romance, but oh well. Now for the other years... trickier.

Oh boy, this is a tough challenge! I thought it would be simple enough, but I guess I basically read books from the 2000s (mostly just the 2010s) or from before I was born

I was thinking about doing this challenge but in reading comments about how difficult it is to know when a book is published I decided to try good ole' Google. Waalaa... ask Google for books published in a specific year and there they are. Then would only need to check for Romance Genre. Hope this is helpful. I have not read through all 25 pages of comments so maybe this has already been discussed--sorry if redundant.

oh my. this was wild.
I also probably made this a bit harder on myself by:
• wanting to only read things that fell into a romance group or had romantic elements,
• as feasible as possible not a bunch of reread titles (there were some that were just too hard to pass up/ others sounded horrible to fill out for that year),
• not multiple titles by same author (pretty good but this was def a today years old moment when finally learning of the amanda quick/jayne ann krentz),
• try to find new authors haven’t read before
• as much as possible some kind of diversity
• availability from libraries in either physical or digital formats

I am so thrilled to go down memory lane with some things that meant a lot to me, like having a moment to reread the first romance book I read, and getting to discover new titles and authors from making a point to search for titles in certain years. And as exciting as this journey was... holy shit am I done and not needing to wade through any more 90's titles.

Holy moly, I'm done! With a few days to spare. Such a good challenge. It challenged me to read books that I might never have gotten to that were 5 star reads for me (e.g. Second Nature, The English Patient, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, The Golden Compass), got me actually reading a bunch of stuff written before the last 15 years, and - okay, yes - made me realize I don't really want to read romance before the last 15 years or so.
