88432 I just found The Scent of Your Breath by Melissa Panarello on my library app and it is listed as Erotica. It's a fairly short book at 144 pages so I will read what I can tonight and if I don't finish it, I'll finish it tomorrow.

Tomorrow I will be home alone for most of the day so I plan to listen to Artemis and get a good chunk of it read.

I don't want to put too much pressure on myself in case I get behind so that's all I will claim for now.
I'm also going to be away on Thursday for a few days and I'll only have mobile data so if I do finish anything in that time, I'll post on here. I'll try to add anything I might read in that time to the spreadsheet before I go so it would just be a case of filling in the completion date. I'll be home again on Sunday.

88432 Yeah, it wasn't really an organisation. The murderer's wife was in on it too and helped dispose of evidence, so in the end 3 people were involved.
I knew it would be a long shot because it wasn't really an organisation as such, but they did organise to do a crime so I thought I would ask in case that was enough. It also works for a Detective book as that is one of the MPG and part of the story is the detective trying to connect the murders if we don't have that covered.

88432 In one of the books I'm reading, the main characters are organising a murder. One of them has already killed a couple of times and now another character wants to be taught how to murder and get away with it. They have now teamed up and where I am in the book, they are about to attempt murder.
Would this be enough for #4 on the mini?

And if #24 for MPG Space hasn't been covered yet, I can read Artemis.

88432 We don't really have much extreme weather or anything here in the UK so a bad storm (but probably mild to what some of you get) can scare me.

I should finish Good Samaritans (Detective Sergeant Pace, #1) by Will Carver soon, maybe even tomorrow if I can find the time.
After that, I will try and read what I can to help with the mini and remaining books.

Oh, I also started a book which a main character has my surname (and is referred to mostly by that name) which is weird for me. My surname isn't super rare, but it is not exactly common either. I'm still yet to find a book with a character that has my first name though.

88432 My boyfriend solved one for me!

(view spoiler)

I hope it isn't cheating that I spoke to him about this, I was just excited about the ones I figured out and being Scandinavian himself, I thought I would challenge him with that one.

88432 I just had another look through the list and I think I have figured out 2 more and one I think I know the artist, but not which song it could be. Again I will put it in spoilers so I don't ruin the fun for anyone else

88432 I just finished the two books I said I would today.

I've also been thinking about the songs and artists and I believe I have figured one out! I have a few ideas for some of the others, but this one I am certain about. I will put it in spoilers in case anyone else wants to try and figure it out too.

Jews/Jewish (3 new)
Mar 13, 2021 12:17PM

88432 I'm currently reading Yes No Maybe So which is told from the point of view of a teenage boy and girl. He is Jewish and she is Muslim. Their mothers were friends and they would meet up and chat and the two kids would play. Fast forward maybe 10 years and they meet again by chance.
The book is labelled romance so we can only assume they end up dating (I'm about halfway through and while they are becoming really good friends, nothing romatically has happened yet).
There is also quite a bit of politics, but from my knowledge it's fictional politics not real life.
It is an interesting read. Not one I would usally choose, but I am reading it for a challenge. Maybe there is enough about Jewish people to satisfy you? It was published last year so it is very modern.

88432 I will finish 2 books on Sunday, when they will count for the mini. One of those will be my green book. I'm also making good progress with my 9 yellow so that shouldn't be too far behind!
After that my focus will be on my last yellow and then whatever else I can read for other cards.
88432 Done!

88432 Yes No Maybe So by Becky Albertalli Do you think this will work for #16 Pink dress on cover?
If not then the only other one it can work for is #37 MPG Romance (so far anyway)

The book I'm reading that fits the dystopian one can be used for #34 instead as finding a book set in Austrailia might be more difficult, so you can claim #28 with Divergent. I just listed the options available for that book :)

88432 The Night is for Hunting (Tomorrow #6) by John Marsden that I was going to finish tonight, but will now hold off on will work for #5 as it is the 5th in the series, #28 as it dystopian by being set in a world war or #34 set in Austrailia.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky which I will take me a couple more days to finish anyway works for #9 as it has a MPG of LGBT.

In the meantime, I will begin working on one of those yellow books.

88432 I could be wrong, but I think we need one more Wild Draw 4. If not you can take one of mine if you want to Paige. I have already claimed a few so I don't mind losing one. I have plenty of other books to choose from to read for other cards.

88432 How is that background white?! It's annoying because the version I have, the middle picture thing is much smaller so the background is covering more area. Oh well.

The Watch Tower by Elizabeth Harrower 8 or 3 yellow
Good Samaritans (Detective Sergeant Pace, #1) by Will Carver 6 yellow
Yes No Maybe So by Becky Albertalli 9 yellow
House of Glass The story and secrets of a twentieth-century Jewish family by Hadley Freeman 3 or 4 yellow
The Minute I Saw You by Paige Toon 5 or 6 yellow
Green Monkey Dreams Stories by Isobelle Carmody (maybe too orange?) 5 yellow

These are the other books I found on my library app. I could manage two of them, but at this time I wouldn't feel confident saying I could do more than that (on top of the books I have already planned for this month).
For now I think I will go for Yes No Maybe So by Becky Albertalli as it covers a 9 yellow that we don't yet have and Good Samaritans (Detective Sergeant Pace, #1) by Will Carver sounds most interesting to me.
If later on in the month I have made good progress with those and we still need more yellows then I would definitely consider reading at least one more from that list.

88432 For another yellow I have Oligarchy by Scarlett Thomas which would work for a 6 yellow.

I also have some other yellow audiobooks I can use, but I will wait until I have finished at least one of the ones I have claimed so far before claiming anymore.

I feel like I've been on a bit of a reading slump this week, but I am determined to finish If Cats Disappeared from the World by Genki Kawamura before the week is over and then hopefully the next one won't be that far behind.

88432 I will be finishing Burning For Revenge (Tomorrow, #5) by John Marsden tonight and then I can begin The Night is for Hunting (Tomorrow #6) by John Marsden .
I also have If Cats Disappeared from the World by Genki Kawamura and The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky on the go.

88432 Well done team!

I've got a couple of books on the go so I should have a good start to March.
I have The Night is for Hunting (Tomorrow #6) by John Marsden which if it can work for green, it can work for any of the green cards we have.

Thanks Zoe, I probably won't finish it tonight, but I should get fairly close and then I'll finish it tomorrow unless I see otherwise.

I don't think I have ever been on a team with a man for uno. But I think generally men have a go-with-the-flow attitude, especially when it comes to hobbies. So maybe a lot of men don't feel comfortable with the pressure when tasked with completing something in a time limit. But that could go for a lot of women too. Most of us, I'm sure, find it encouraging to challenge ourselves to read the amount we set out to and maybe more and the team helps motivate us. We feel some sort of achievement for it. However some people just don't like that pressure (even though people in uno are generally very nice) and would rather read at their own pace without any stress.

Anyway, how are we looking for books? I can finish Burning For Revenge (Tomorrow, #5) by John Marsden before the end of the month, but if we don't need it I can hold off until March officially begins.
