88432 I'm hoping to finish my first one today at work, but there have been a lot of distractions this week as they have been moving things about and updating the server and just general things that make us complain for a while :p
I've got about 3/4 hours of listening time left so it should be possible to finish it at work.

88432 I did wonder about the notifications, because I usually have about 10 when I check in the afternoon, but the last one I got was Jennifer's in the early hours (for me).

I haven't started my red book yet so I can always postpone that for now if we have no more red spots left. I can try and find a book with a different colour for one of the cards not yet claimed.

88432 I'm so sorry Jennifer.

88432 I've started my first audiobook at work, but was busy talking for a bit so I didnt get much listening done :p
Rumour has it that they are moving us into a new building that they just completed either today or tomorrow so it might be a bit disruptive, but otherwise I'm hoping to finish that book this week. I started with Jane Eyre as it is the oldest book on my TBR list.

I hope everyone else's reading is going well

88432 Stay safe all of you experience harsh weather!
The UK had a couple of storms over the weekend, but apart from some wind, they didn't really affect where I live. There's no snow here and the temperature is pretty mild so I'm lucky there.
Keep warm and safe!

88432 I have a short audiobook to finish tomorrow and I might download another one that's too short for the challenge anyway just to see me through work tomorrow. And I will finish the physical book I have been reading tomorrow too so I will be good to go on Tuesday.

No worries at all! Honestly, as long as it's added to the spreadsheet when it's fini..."

I like to add my books to the spreadsheet, otherwise I run the risk of forgetting about them.

I need it to be February already because I've been listening to shorter, mainly classic childrens books at work, but I've almost run out and I will have 2 more full work days before the challenge starts!

88432 I will be starting with The Girl on the Train as my physical book and Eldest as my audio. Sorry I'm on my phone so I cant put the book links.

And I promise I will add my books to the spreadsheet soon. Probably tonight or over the weekend.

Oh and I have a blue book that I might be able to read in February, but I can put it off till March if needed.

88432 My stepdad wants chickens but mum isn't so kean on the idea. And we know she would be the one to look after them.
I've not really had a chance to work on my gardening skills. We only have a small-ish garder where we live right now so mum is usually finished by the time I realise she's working out there.
I'd love to successfully grow something from a seed one day so I could proudly say that I grew it.

88432 We are moving about an hour north. We currently live very close to London, but my parents want to spend their retirement away from the city. The house is smaller and our current one but still has plenty of space. Mum was more interesting in a nice garden so she can grow her own veg and my Stepdad wanted a double garage so he could tinker with his cars and motorcycles a lot of the time, and he had ended up with 2! So he is very happy.

I'm glad your daughters move went well, Camilla. I hope the other two moves go just as well.

I can always swap my red book for a different coloured book if you have one you need to read sooner. I have plenty of choice and no real rush to read specific ones, but I believe there are still red options available.

88432 I seem to have quite a few books that have blue covers so I could cover one of those later on in the month if they haven't been claimed by then. Or I'm sure I can find something to cover another coloured card. But I will wait until people have had a chance to claim some and I don't want to risk putting too much pressure on myself.

I will add my red one and another book I know I definitely want to read to the spreadsheet sometime this week. Tomorrow if I remember.

88432 I'm not sure if I mentioned this, but my parents have put an offer on a new house. If all goes well the move will probably happen in April. I still live with them so I will be moving too, until I can get to Norway.
Today was the first day we've had to sort out stuff. We got a lot done and I've packed away most of my books, but kept out ones that I would like to read soon and some that have coloured covers.
I was also ruthless with the books I had already read, but had decided to keep at the time and now have a stack of them to donate to a charity shop.

88432 Oh yes, Camilla, I've been doing the same.
Jan 20, 2022 05:08PM

88432 I used to be, until I found my love for audiobooks. I've also been wary of how many books I have, because I know I will have to move them to Norway eventually. Once I've moved and settled, I might let the amount of books I own creep back up. I can't wait to find a nice bookshelf to buy!

88432 My library app is pretty good so should be able to find books to fit specific things we need like colour books. As I already mentioned, I made a long list of books I can read for Reverse so I can definitely cover some of those throughout the challenge. Chances are that I will read some of the books on the list anyway, whether we use them for Reverse or other cards as some of them I was planning to read this year anyway.

88432 That's okay Jennifer! I didn't start listening to them until about 4 years ago. Before that I didn't really understand the appeal, but once I listened to a decent one I was hooked.

I currently used Audible as they have a plus catalogue now that you can use as well as your monthly credit with the subscription. And my local library has a really good app with lots of ebooks and audiobooks, but that wouldn't help you much.
Librivox is a free website/app that has audiobooks read by volunteers. It's mostly classics and other books you can generally get for free as ebooks. Some of the recordings on there are a bit hit and miss though because it is done by volunteers and not professionals. Might be a okay place to start if you just want to test the waters to see if you would enjoy audiobooks without paying a fee.
Audible used to do a "first month/credit free" offer, but I don't know if they still do it.

88432 Hi Dima!

I'm kind of the same with audiobooks, but I'm usually good at turning it off before I fall asleep. I'm able to listen to audiobooks at work now which is great, so I will have one on the go at work and then I will have another one that I will listen to at home, mostly when I am doing my bedtime routine.

88432 So I'm planning on reading Eldest (The Inheritance Cycle, #2) by Christopher Paolini which will work for Red 6 - character Saphira, as well as other cards.

I'm also planning to read Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë which Lizzie has read so that can be put down as a reverse. It's the oldest book on my TBR so it will feel so good to finally get it read.

88432 As promised, some cat pics

First, Wilma on her 18th birthday. She was not very happy. We took many attempts to get a decent picture.

And secondly, the cats from my Norwegian family. On the left you have Freya, the youngest and next to her is Pompel and then the fluffiest one is Pippi the Norwegian forest cat/ragdoll.

88432 I prefer to just list everything a book will fit instead of claiming a specific card, unless it is a more difficult card to cover.

I have been meaning to look at my books for colour covers, but work has left me too tired to find the energy to do it. I might look later when I get home from work. I was planning to read a book that might cover a red card, but I'm not sure if it is red enough. I'll find out later.

I may also post some pics of my kitties if I both remember how and actually remember to do it :p
