88432 I am very close to finishing one of the books for the classical painting and will finish it tomorrow.
The next book I will be starting will also fit the classical painting and I may even be able to do another one after that if I get through it quick, but I wont claim a second one yet.

I'll add the next one on the spreadsheet when I next go on my laptop

88432 I should finish 2 more books this week and then I will see how many I can squeeze in next week. I don't mind if some of mine are only used for the mini and not the actual cards as I've noticed some of them fit very few options. The books I'm reading have been on my TBR list for years so I'm just happy to finally be reading them.

88432 I may be able to cover a few of the painting ones. I've got a few classic books waiting to be read and they tend to have classical painting looking covers. I'll try and get a couple done over the next week. I'm home alone most of today so I'll try and make good progress on at least one of them.

88432 Also, I can cover a black cover book with Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier and maybe we could use Gulliver's Travels Travels into Several Remote Nations of the World. by Jonathan Swift for one of those classical paintings ones?

88432 Sadly, my 2 blue does not have a W character. I am happy to wait until next month to finish it, or at least until we get the cards for next month. I have a few other audiobooks waiting for me to read.

88432 Oh my, trying to find books for the remaining colour books proved to be a challenge.

I found a book that would work for 5 green (wrong combination, but I've saved it just in case we get one next round) and I found out that my library now has The Last Guardian (Artemis Fowl, #8) by Eoin Colfer which is a nice yellow and the last in the series, but it's on loan until the 23rd so it will have to wait until next month. I bet we get no yellows next month now. I'll read it anyway.

And finally, I found a book we can use! Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen has a lovely green cover and has a main character called Elinor. I don't know why it is very difficult to find that book when you search for it on here. I had it on my TBR and had to find it on there and then manually type it in to show you guys. Very odd for such a well known book.
Anyway, I will begin it later this week or next week sometime.

88432 I can probably find a book to cover either the red or the green. I'll have a look in a little bit when I get to my laptop.

Thank you Camilla. I began The Testaments last night. I only listened to about half an hour of it, but at least I made a start. I read the first book last year I think (or maybe the year before) and I remember finding it needing quite a bit of concentration to follow and work out what was going on. So I expected to need some decent concentration levels when I started the second book.

88432 Hello all, just dropping in with a quick update.

I haven't really read much over the last few days as I have been plagued with headaches and over the weekend I seem to have got a cold (hopefully that is all it is).
I began Moby-Dick or, the Whale today at work which is a fairly long book so will probably keep me occupied until the mini is announced for this month, especially if these headaches don't leave me alone.
I keep meaning to start The Testaments which is my blue book, but I either get distracted by something else or I'm too tired and fall asleep before I can start. I will read it though!

I haven't really planned any other books yet. I'm in a bit of a general slump, but maybe that is because I'm not feeling 100%. Hopefully things will pick up later in the week.

I hope everyone else is well!

88432 I am reading a PB edition. The one I have is 191 pages same as the kindle version and has the same cover as the one I linked which is probably why I didn't notice the difference.

88432 I may end up swapping His by Design out for another book. I only wanted to read it because it is a pretty short book and one that I didn't think would be worth keeping once I've read it once. But I'm just not in the mood for that kind of romance novel right now. I might try and read a little more over the weekend to see if the story pulls me in enough to continue, but if not then I will put it on hold for now.

It just says they are in Italy at the end of World War II, but without reading it I don't know if they stay in one place or move about. If Lizzie can't remember then I can leave it until next month. Hopefully we will get some more red cards that I could use it for.

88432 I forgot about this book. I have Catch-22 by Joseph Heller to read. It says it is set in Italy but is that too broad for a setting?
I don't want to claim another coloured book yet, but I'm just thinking of possibilites in case we struggle to fill the last ones and I manage to read the ones I have claimed quickly.

Oh, thank goodness. I'll add it now. I'll probably start listening to it at work sometime this week.
88432 I've done it for you :)

88432 Well done everyone!

I really hope the captains agree that is the cover is yellow enough. I've found quite a few yellow books but none of them have an obvious N to use. Like I said, if that book is not deemed yellow enough, I will go through the whole library of my library app. I will find something!

Ah, I thought that might be the case. I might still read it anyway.

I was looking for other books that would fit 9 yellow and found Norse Mythology by Jackson Crawford on Audible Plus. It seems to be audiobook only so shows no page numbers but it is 11h 17m long. Is it okay to use? Also I hope it is yellow enough.

I'm pretty determined to find a book for this 9 yellow now so if this one won't work then I will scroll through the whole of my library app to find something!

88432 Also, I was just looking at books on my library app to see if I can find anything for that 9 Yellow. Do you think The Cat Who Saved Books by Sōsuke Natsukawa is a yellow enough cover? It's kind of verging more on brown, but arguably it is a very dark yellow.

88432 I finished Eldest today which was my red book. I have updated the spreadsheet.

I will probably end up finishing 2 books on the 1st as I am very near the end of The Girl on the Train and I will probably finish listening to Peter Pan at work that day.
Feb 24, 2022 05:39AM

88432 I only have a couple of hours left of audio on my red book. It will definitely get finished over the weekend, if not before.
