I have never been able to listen to audio books, but I think I am really missing something. I love hearing about how a narrator was so spot on. I often wonder if they can do a better job with a character than I can with my own mind.

The more I think about the book, the more it stays with me. My biggest complaint after reading was the ending of the book, but I found that the author is working on a sequel, so now the ending makes more sense.

Great list, Rosemary.

I've heard good things about that book, Cecile. I have it on my massive TBR.

8565 The Devil's Prayer by Luke Gracias

Rating - 3.5 stars

Not sure that this book should actually be classed as psychological fiction. The author himself classed it as a "historical horror thriller", which I think describes it perfectly. The book comes with a disclaimer about the brutality included in the book and states that readers may find it offensive and confronting. As for me....I had three distinctly different reactions to the book. Parts of the book were fascinating, parts were brutal (as the author had warned) and parts were just plain strange and unbelievable. The best thing about the book was that it made me want to research the history behind the story to see what the actual facts are.

I enjoyed the first two books of this series. I still have to read Mockingjay, but someday....

8565 I've almost finished Book 1, and I am finally getting to rhythm of Hugo's writing. He certainly is descriptive. I have to admit, though, there were a few pages of continued dialog by the University students that I skimmed. I'm sure they were valuable from a historical perspective, but they didn't really seem to mean anything to the story line. We'll see if I am right about that.

8565 I have owned this book ever since it came out, but have never gotten a chance to read it. If it is a quick one, maybe I can fit it in this month.

8565 Read 'em and weep (or gasp, throw the book, shout in disbelief.....)! My favorite type of Psychological Fiction is a good thriller. I love when a book is not only twisted, but contains well thought out twists, the more surprising, the better.

Alot more than thrillers fall into this genre, though. There are books where psychology plays a major role, books where the psychology of the characters is central to the enjoyment of the book, books where the major character is a psychologist. Whichever type of psychological fiction catches your eye, here is the place to list your review and tell us all what you thought of both the book and the genre.

I finally was able to get to the library and both of the paperback editions that I picked up would work with Rosemary's schedule, so I am going with it.

Thanks for figuring all of this out, everyone!
