7638 Oooo - I'll do that too sometimes. "Honey, look what you got me!" :) However now he works very hard to do well for gifts that he chooses himself.

Happy Mother's Day to you! We did our celebration yesterday, so today will probably just be another day, but it allows me to be a lot more gracious when I have to spend time on Mother's Day with my Mother in law!

7638 I started and finished this one yesterday, and I am struggling with how I feel about it, other than it certainly is not a 5 star read for me. It was compelling and a total page-turner, but I didn't love it...I agree with many of the comments above regarding the sadness at the evolution in the relationship between Ma and Jack...and that Steppa was a saint.

7638 It's been divine. :) I'm not sure what today holds, but I was also able to start and finish a book yesterday - I think I've got vacation in my head already.

7638 Gabe is not typically an adventurous eater, so it's a hoot that he loves clams so much. Kasia is a VERY adventurous eater, and typically the more exotic the food, the more she loves it.

I had my Mother's Day this morning with breakfast in bed and gifts. (Mike has to play in church Sunday morning, which means he's gone from 8 til 12) I have $20 in Amazon to redeem - SOOOOOOO excited. I'm thinking The Peach Keeper and The Help (the "add book" link doesn't seem to be working right now). I also got two pairs of sandals (Kasia chose this AWESOME pair of Mootsie Tootsie beige sandals with 4" heels - they are AWESOME!) and mike chose a pair of comfy gold sandals that I know will be my default pair all summer. They also gave me the new Harry Potter DVD/Blue Ray and a pair of capris! I have NEVER been so spoiled! The weekend is mine to do what I please! I've got a "date" with Gabe scheduled today while Kasia has a playdate, and I think I MAY have to go get a few more pairs of these capris! :) I hope all of you are having a blessed Mother's Day!

7638 I LOVED Little Women, Little Men and Jo's Boys growing up, which is why I find the premise of March intriguing.

7638 @Stephanie - I had lobster...it was. They fly them in from Maine on Tuesdays and serve them Wednesday! :) Good times.

My library is lacking in Geraldine Brooks! I read People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks and really loved it, and am pretty sure that I'll be buying March by Geraldine Brooks sometime soon. Thoughts/suggestions?

7638 Have to share...

http://www.sanders1907.com/sanderspho...

we were at the BEST restaurant in town last night (owned by my husband's aunt and uncle) and my kiddos are now featured in the photo gallery noshing on their clams. :) It was a great night, and hysterical to watch Kasia try and suck those clams with no front teeth!

7638 So I was just day-dreaming about winning the lottery and wondering what I would name the library...

7638 Thanks guys - I'm so glad I had somewhere to be sad. The vote was 62% - 38% - not close. :( I don't know what will happen next, as the existing library is too small for the collection, not ADA complient and just old and dark. I'll continue to use the library, I love it, but it's so sad to me that this city is so short-sited on the issue. We have TWO ginormous events centers, and another enormous, palatial wellness center going in, and THOSE are apparently fine for the city to support. And I've heard a lot of things about how the library will just be a place for the homeless to hang out, and the idea is they don't need something nice and new, and it sickens me. A - the library ISN'T just a place for the homeless to hang out, but allowing the poor a space where they have equal rights to enjoy a service is NOT a bad thing! B - The library is a place where young mothers bring their kids, and the space is small enough that children have been turned away at story time due to the space being so small. C - WHY is a building that's focused on the distribution of books and media relegated to some old, crummy building? What is wrong with celebrating a library? Hmmph. Just very disappointed with the priorities of my fellow citizens.
