7638 I am distracting myself from insomnia with Linger. It's currently 4:30 and I've been up a couple hours. I should have grabbed something denser to help me sleep - I think it's going to be a long day!

7638 Hey all - I'm lurking here. I think I am going to pick up the new Nook - do any of you have that one? I'm intrigued by the 30 free books for people who have a competing ereader already...the list isn't fabulous, but hey, it's 30 free books. :)

7638 I adored this book. I actually yelled at my mother (she and I yell at one another regularly. This is less violent/abusive than it sounds) because she didn't hand me this one as a child. She firmly maintains that she did and I totally disagree.

LOVED this book.

7638 It takes a day to read Janet! Good grief! My co-worker bought it, and 3 of us have already read hers...

7638 We had a really fun weekend - but now I'm home with Kasia due to her skin reacting to the weekend with hives. Not sure what these are from, they are only on her trunk, not on her extremities, and she's exhausted so I decided to keep her home today and let her rest. Poor thing! Her skin is her weak spot, when she's fighting something, her skin is where it shows up.

And yes, I think I want the new Nook for checking out books from the library. I still prefer my Kindle - I did play with the Nook a bit at B&N over the weekend...but it didn't come home with me yet. I have a huge stack of paper books I should probably pay attention to, although I've been plowing through a lot of them lately!

7638 And, in honor of eliminating stress, we're going to visit a friend's lake cabin for the weekend! Yay to awesome friends, full coolers and floating on the water. (oh, and a few books!)

And...I may just pick up a Nook this weekend to keep my Kindle company. :)

7638 Congratulations on the jobs - so glad that all is looking up, and your health is better. I cannot imagine moving so much! I hope things continue to get better and better! Sounds like you have earned a long run of good luck!

7638 Exactly. Yay for no more stress! This will relieve a LOT. In more than one way!

7638 And the decision was....

Not the house.

The "perfect" home required $20K in work to make it Mike's dream too. Which would have been OK, except then it requires mortgage insurance, to the tune of $250/month for 3 - 5 years. I couldn't justify it.

So, we refinanced. And we'll be here another 2 years (or more) and then we will either try find the perfect place or we will build it.

I feel so relieved, and so free. It was for sure the right decision. :) So, we're good.

Yes, Rita. I agree that the last few were stinkers - she gets back into her groove a bit with this one though. The mystery WAS massively predictable, but still, good read. :)

7638 I finished Smokin' Seventeen (Stephanie Plum, #17) by Janet Evanovich tonight and it's certainly one of the better ones in the last 5 books or so. I liked it a lot - especially the Ranger parts! Yum!!!

and one of the unfortunate side effects of these books is I start craving all the junk food Stephanie is eating.

7638 Uh-oh Lisa! You've officially chased me away from GR and to my book! ;)

7638 Kasia is 6 - she loves the dolls and the books, and I love the wholesome nature of the works. I'd rather have her playing with her Girls than hoarding Barbies and their skimpy outfits.

I also really love the dolls and their swag myself - it makes me a little kid again, and I'll play tea party with her, or we'll dress the girls together. :)

7638 A co-worker handed me Smokin' Seventeen A Stephanie Plum Novel by Janet Evanovich today and I read a few pages on break, and laughed out loud. This one has some promise after the last few in the series have been kind of stinkers. But, Stephanie Plum is certainly mindless summer reading!

7638 Kasia's doll Bella is one of the "My American Girl" dolls, and the website is really good. Kasia has so much fun playing yoga and making cupcakes. :) There are other games too, but those are her favorite. Then sometimes I'll go on and play "Help Desk" where you help other girls with their homework, so I can rack up points so she can go shopping online. It's fun.

7638 Hello - Kasia got the latest American Girl catalog yesterday and has decided that Bella and Julie need Kanani for their sister...

LOL. I thought of you. :)

Have fun in WDW! I'm trying to see if a trip in October is still in the cards for us. Checking out the site I can still get a really good deal. I may need a Disney fix this fall.

7638 I hear you. We came home Tuesday, and I'm about 1/2 done with laundry. Thursday night I kept waking up all confused, trying to figure out which day it was.

I have very good intentions of showering and running errands, but at this point I'm REALLY enjoying coffee, Goodreads and flip-flopping laundry. :)

7638 So anyway. I'm going to go back to Hogwarts for awhile. Basilisks and broken wands will be soothing!

7638 I'm not sure how it went yet...

The realtor was here, saw the house and said she'd certainly list it at my price. She's going to do a comparative analysis and see what it would likely appraise at as well - and said her main concern is that while someone may indeed offer close to the asking price, the comparables and subsequent appraised values may come as less. Our neighborhood is older, but our house was built in 2004. This makes true comparables very difficult to actually find. So...

We'll see. I really, really want my piece of heaven outside of town. But if my husband is going to get his dream hobby space, the house has to come in close to what we're asking. Or, we need a wealthy benefactor OR a lottery ticket. Not even a HUGE winning ticket. Tens of thousands is all. ;)
