Well, the realtor is coming over to check out my house tonight. I'm a bit terrified...

@Barbara - My husband was a musician for many years, and I know that we've had some of those titles in our mailboxes over the years. Now that he's into building models, we have hobbiest magazines for that obsession. I think that magzines offer a great deal in print form for someone who really wants to READ about their subjects. The online zines are better for browsing or quick info, IMO. :)

Welcome Melanie! Glad to have you here!
Have you read anything by
John Sandford? If you like crime thrillers, he may be another author you'd enjoy.

today. I meant to start it a while ago but some other books I had on hold came in that needed to be read and returned first. I'm really interested in this..."I read it in a day - New Year's Day, actually. It was 5 stars and just an amazing read. I've found myself talking about it to several people. It's amazing!

I had to pick up
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone yesterday. I try take a summer vacation at Hogwarts each year, and with the final movie coming out soon, I must get back to reading!

I finished this one yesterday, and put it in the 3 star category, but I will pick up the next one, as it was the last half of the book that carried it for me. I started out loving it - but like Liz Vegas after awhile the dialogue started feeling more like a contrivance than natural. My book had a Q&A with the author at the end, which I did enjoy.

Still debating - we need to add on a room to the garage to make it do-able. My husband is a stinking teeter-totter though! I'm ready to make an offer, but it's his hobby room we need to add on, so that's the hang up. So, hoping. we'll be spending a few days at my sister's this weekend, which will probably either make or break as he really likes her house, and this one is similar to that. :)

Happy Anniversary Barb! Have an amazing trip!

Tomorrow we look again. Tonight was the serious talk. It's a huge decision to move from what we have which is just fine to this, which would potentially be better - but also means more debt and either bigger payments or more of them.
*sigh.
Something in me keeps whispering though - nothing ventured, nothing gained. So what are we going to do???
Look again tomorrow. Our contractor friend will be with and we will see.

I'm not sure what we'll end up doing - we saw one yesterday that has everything (down to the fact we love the decorating/colors) EXCEPT there isn't a hobby room for MIke. Which IS vital. So maybe we turn part of the 3 stall garage into his room...that would be enough construction for me...
FIngers crossed Bees, this one would be perfect. Then we can jump on the puppy band wagon!

I needed something distracting, entertaining and easy, so I chose
. I adore Stuart Woods for these brain candy reads!

We're talking about building again. Lord help us, we evidently love a challenge. We built this home, then finished the basement and did a kitchen addition and re-carpeted part of it...I can't believe we're considering doing so again. We might just be a bit insane...

Thanks Tasha - I know you are right. Mike has been turning this one over and over in his head - the problem we're facing is the one he loved with the PERFECT hobby room already installed has tiny bedrooms. (like 10 X 11 for kids, 11 x 15 for master) Our furniture wouldn't fit in them.
The house I LOVE would require us to do some remodeling in the basement to make his perfect hobby room. And so we have two people with two different priorities. I don't think we'll ever see another house with a hobby room like the other one had - but he's seen it, so of course that's the standard he'll hold all others up to!

I'm in love with this house...Mike not as much. *sigh. Our main problem is he's in love with OUR house, and me not so much.
Ah, the joys, right?

So, of course as soon as I say "maybe later..."
Tonight we're taking a second look at a house.
And Mike has an ad for Boxer puppies in his wallet...

Good for you!!! What a relief that must have been. But, your heart and soul is in it, so that obviously showed in your portfolio! Enjoy your summer. :)

Tornado sirens tonight have casued me to skip my walk, which is a bummer. I'm taking those sirens much more seriously now than I used to, it seems an angry Mother Nature is displaying her wrath everywhere lately.
And the house-hunt is holding. After looking at several homes nothing we've seen is that much better than what we have in our price range, and it's not worth being strapped to live in the house of my dreams. So, we'll find some new paint for the kitchen, clean out a few closets and I'll enjoy my summer, free of frantic cleaning, showing, packing or moving! I'm a bit disappointed, but also relieved. AND, it's nice to know that what I have is better than a great deal of what is out there.

Our library hardly ever charges a fine for late books - they DO charge for late DVDs though. $1/day. and I forgot ours before leaving on vacation, and had a $7 fine when I came back. I too chalk it up to a donation, and it's not a huge deal, but the irritating thing for me was that one of the DVDs was totally trashed and unwatchable anyway. I'm sure my fine helped to replace it. :P
I'm a huge fan of the renewing online feature. I have kept a few books for 3 months at a time because I tend to bring home a huge bagful and then return as I read...but those books at the bottom stay at my house a long time!

I'm about 1/3 of the way through, and I too am really enjoying the book - in a way it feels like the Anne of Green Gables to me. I think it's the vivid characters who are living their lives through the pages, even though it's not a plot driven story. It's so well done, and I'm glad the Bees suggested it!

@Tricia - and you'll feel even better after Sugar Queen!!!! I loved that one best of all.
