7638 It was wonderful, beautiful and moving. And after such an event, I feel terrible being angry about the following, BUT....

Kasia wanted the Kanani Shave Ice Stand for Christmas. The damn toy hoarders have purchased them all and are selling them for $300 and more on Ebay. Jerks. :( Santa's failing this mission.

7638 The kids and I read Nubs: The True Story of a Mutt, a Marine & a Miracle - that one moved me to tears too.

7638 @Christine-

LOVED IT - I am confused why I never managed to read her before? I did a BA and MA in English, and have a terrible record with my classics! I will have to pick up some more. I LOVE that they are free on my Kindle! :)

I've got it on my TBR! :)

7638 I've been spending most of my time with Jane Eyre lately. I'm really enjoying it.

7638 I just finished Await Your Reply and was blown away - it's not my favorite of all time, but you have to be just amazed by the layers, the intricacy and research that would have to go into this.

(AND he mentions North Dakota about 30 times during the book. This may in fact be a record.)

Have you read the Anne series before? Anne of Avonlea is actually my least favorite of all of them, but Anne was one of my friends as a child...I sometimes find myself deciding whether people are "kindred spirits" or not. :)

I too am interested to hear your thoughts on When She Woke - it's on my TBR.

Lisa - LOL - I'm not entertained by the muscle relaxers, but Await Your Reply deserved more than my semi-stupor. I'm loving it. I laughed out loud at one section, and George needs a beating. What a pretentious a$$.

I will be even happier when I don't need muscle relaxers and every other day visits at the chiropractor. :)

Amy - I really enjoyed Beat the Reaper - it was exactly what I needed...a high energy, super entertaining read that had absolutely no relationship to any reality I know. :)

7638 I started Await Your Reply by Dan Chaon a couple days ago, and then added Beat the Reaper (Peter Brown #1) by Josh Bazell for something lighter - I wracked my back up and needed something that required less concentration after muscle relaxers. :(

Both are keeping me entertained.

7638 No, the pregnancy isn't further along - this is the 3rd ultrasound, the first one she measured at term, 2nd 2 weeks ahead and now she's measuring 4 weeks. Kami and Jason had been trying, so she knows her dates pretty firmly. She hasn't had her diabetes testing yet, but I think no one will be surprised if she tests positive. But my baby giant nephew looks gorgeous and perfect! On the 3d pictures Kami said it looks like he has Jason's mouth and her nose. :)

MY NEPHEW IS A PERFECTLY HEALTHY BOY!!!!!!!!!!

He is a baby giant, and is growing really, really fast - he's 4 weeks ahead of gestational norms at this point, but he is a healthy baby!!!! :)

7638 I finished Last Night in Twisted River and also gave it a 3 1/2, upgraded to 4. For sure not my favorite Irving, but still good.

7638 I've beeen distracted lately, my sister has had some concerning tests and we're not certain her baby is perfectly healthy, so she's been on my mind a great deal. As of now, she goes to Minneapolis on Veteran's Day for a 3-D ultrasound to try and get some clearer pictures of her babe, to see if there are indeed issues that will need to be fixed when he's born. Veteran's Day would have been our Grandma's 95th birthday, so I'm hoping that is a good omen and we get some conclusively happy results. Any thoughts and prayers for the health of my nephew are greatly appreciated. :)
