MMMM - yeah. I don't really expect more than a 3 from that one. And imagine finishing it when you couldn't move on to the next in the series. I'm going to wait for you guys to tell me it is fabulous before I invest my energy. I REALLY enoyed the first books, but the last one (before 2011, anyway) did NOT entice me to continue!

It really shouldn't be too much for you to get through those - especially as you've been cranking through the Martins.
I finished You Know When the Men Are Gone tonight - WOW - I was really impressed. I have two cousins and an uncle who have been deployed since 9/11, and while I don't have direct experience as a wife or daughter, I was awed by this collection and felt that it was really well done.

Tonight is my last night with my sister and nephew. I have had the most wonderful week here with them, and am already distraught at missing moments with Max. (Tasha, he's Max, short and sweet. AKA, Little Mr. or Mr. K - his initials are MRK. :)
The weather here is not great, first real winter weather of the season hits when I have a 250 mile drive. So, thoughts and prayers as I treck across the state between storms are appreciated. I have The Eyre Affair on audio book for my ride, and will hopefully have my trip well timed between blizzards.

I was there for the birth of my nephew, Max Rylan, who was born this morning at 7:36 am and was 8 lbs 5.9 oz. My sister and nephew are doing well - he's beautiful!

I am currently at my sister's - I came yesterday after her doctor's appointment. She is dialated to 3 and the weather is supposed to get bad. So, I drove down yesterday. We've mall walked and she's feeling ready to go - she's going to rest now but we anticipate going to the hospital this afternoon. I'm REALLY excited to meet my nephew!!!!

I'm still reading a lot and quickly going through books. It's been awfully enjoyable.
I'm anxiously awaiting my nephew's arrival. I'm now to the point that I wonder if it's my sister every time the phone rings. I'll spend 4 or 5 days with her when he arrives, and I've made my library trip for the event. My brother-in-law actually asked if I had MY bags packed yet. :) That made me feel good - I'm glad they both want me to be there.
We had conferences for the kids last week and Kasia's was amazing - both her reading and math levels are where they should be for a child through 2nd grade, which is great for my little girl not through grade 1 yet.
Gabe is another story. His attention is worse. He's missing instructions often, and it's hurting his grades. He has a speech issue (I liken it to buffering - it's a mid-word stutter, it sounds like a video buffering on a computer) he is in the highest reading level currently, but his teacher said that next year they may not put him in the high level because of this "fluency" issue. She said he slows down the group. :( He's gone from above average in his scores to average - and most of it is the attention to detail and instructions thing. I don't know. Then Mike and I got into it because he thinks my expectations are too high for Gabe. I don't agree. If Gabe were not capable of excelling I would be ok with him getting average scores. BUT, when he's gone downhill and it's mostly because he's not listening to instructions?!? Way different.
Yay Mommy-hood.

I really enjoyed

My husband has been doing a lot of painting lately, and has gotten a fairly decent sideline business going. If you're interested check him out at

I am a huge reader and my husband is . . . not so much a reader. His brother was here for Super Bowl and when my kids begged for reading time before bed (sin..."
Does he have kids? Cuz I may feel a little sorry for them. My kids are currently irritated with me because I will be missing bedtime reading tonight. BUT, a girlfriend I haven't seen in a couple years is in town, so must see her!
