7638 Nothing missing...all good...offer submitted last night...counter received today.

I am loathe to miss it so expect we will accept the counter on Monday and plan for possession on June 15.

Which means that I'll be packing, painting and unpacking until July 1 instead of reading. :) Super excited.

7638 It's a lovely development with beautiful homes. I looked at lots there a few years ago, it's exciting that I'll be living there (hopefully!) this summer. Our friend who is a contractor is coming with tonight to see if there's anything we're missing.

Yay Tricia! 11/22/1963 was one of my favorite reads last summer! LOVED IT. Hope you do too.

7638 Well, we're going to make an offer tomorrow. Holy cow - this is NOT good for my reading. I'm too keyed up to read.

I suppose that I will just have to start packing instead if the offer is accepted anyway.

7638 Saw the house. I'm torn. It's very good. The space is huge, tons of storage, nice master and the kids would have huge rooms and a living room and bathroom right outside their doors. Mike would have three times the space in his hobby room. There is a lovely office and even a room that I could make into my library. The kitchen is ok. The finishes through the house are mediocre. But, it's a small bedroom community as opposed to living in the city. I don't know if moving the kids will be better or worse for them. Magic wand please?

Good for you! That sounds delightful! I hope your children know what a dedicated Mommy they have. :)

7638 I'm nervous and excited. Interest rates are really great, and there are little projects on our house that I honestly would just give a miss if we put it on the market. So - we'll see. :)

But, 3600 square feet on 3 acres sure does sound appealing.

7638 Honestly, neither Gabe nor Kasia has a couple for their godparents. Since I have only one sibling and Mike is an only child, my sister Kami serves for both kids. Gabriel also has one of my best friends from college, Pete, and Mike's cousin. Kasia has my "pseudo-siblings" - I grew up with neighbors who felt like family, and we're still all incredibly close. Kasia has 4 godparents.

Max will have 3 - Mike and I and Kami's friend. That being said, Max will be the 4th child that Mike and I serve as godparents. So obviously couples are good too. :)

Well, we may be doing it again this summer...I have a call into my realtor to look at a house. This time it's Mike who is kind of itching. There is one in the country, but further out that looks great online. We'll have to see what it looks like in person. With spring coming so early this year, it may end up being a good time for us to make this move...but if that is the house, it's huge. It will create a commute for us (something we've never had) and the kids will completely change schools. We won't be near stores, restaurants etc anymore, so we'd end up having to be a lot more organized in shopping and meal planning. So - I'm mixed about it, but we'll see.

7638 I wonder too about the child that Ralph sent to Squeers - who DIED in his care...And that he would set his nephew up with an utter dredge of humanity is appalling.

I'm somewhere in chapter 7 I believe - so not far behind you.
Mar 24, 2012 08:43AM

7638 That was my thought too, Petra. That it WILL resolve. I have no plans of stopping. :)
Mar 23, 2012 06:38PM

7638 I too was really upset by the preface describing how horribly children were treated at some of the schools. The interaction between Squeers and the step-father was horrifying. I was really wondering if this will be a book I enjoy if there is much child abuse described. That is something I really can't abide.

The politicians don't sound very different from ours today, do they? :)

7638 @Vanessa - I agree,

Cutting for Stone was my favorite book of 2010. I'm really liking the re-read, there are foreshadowing sentences that I understand having read it once. I'm excited to discuss it with a group.

7638 I'm re-reading Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese for a book club. It's so beautiful! Excited for a re-read of this one.

I'm glad you are enjoying it! it's a fun series, and it's all LizVegas's fault I got sucked in. It is one I was VERY greatful to read on my Kindle though, and totally did not want to bring the library books to the office. AT ALL. The titles and the covers - UGH. But such a great guilty pleasure.

7638 I thought of you tonight - House Hunters had a couple from Mechanicsville - and their house went thru the storm - I'm guessing that one last summer - that I think I remember you talking about.

I want to read Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys just because the cover is gorgeous!

I'm slowly reading Nicholas Nickleby by Charles Dickens but all my other reads are Bee Books.

I've got to get started on a re-read of
Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese , for my first meeting of my first f2f book club. :) I'm excited!

7638 You're welcome. :) I felt the same way - I didn't know how it was going to turn out, and wasn't sure what was real and what wasn't, but LOVED that. The suspense was very well done.
