7638 It's 2.5 acres. So, a fairly large project. :/. The soil in this area isn't great, which I'm sure is why it's a development rather than farm land.

7638 I cannot believe it's already pushing the end of June!!!! So crazy!

Mid-July I will start practicing for teenagers - my friend's children are going to take turns nannying for us the last 5 weeks of summer, so I'm looking forward to having them here, while still being a bit aprehensive about having extra kids in my house for that long a stretch. I adore these kids, and have known them since they were babies, so it should be good. :)

We are growing tons of weeds and trying to figure out exactly WHAT to do with this mess of a lawn...adore my house, and have spent a few nights on my patio with a book, but we have a LOT of work to do on the yard. I have half a notion we're going to have to plow it all over, even it out, bring in dirt and re-seed the lot. Ugh...

I've had a visit to HPB and stocked up with a few old Bee selections, and am excited to get to them. I'm not going to go to the library for awhile - I have SOOOOO many books here I haven't read, I really need to hit my own shelves.
7638 I love how busy we all got posting thoughts on this thread. :)
7638 I totally felt this journey was Forrest-like with the hangers on. And I too thought they were horrible, but also probably a good depiction of folks who Jump on a band-wagon for a cause and find themselves distracted/caught up in their own story rather than sticking to the original story that inspired the journey.
7638 What a great thread!!! Love being a member of this crew.

My thoughts are similar to most, but these are the ideas I like best:

1: No more Bee Books thread. Making the effort to post in the book's thread is worth it and super fun.

2: SPOILER FRIENDLY! I never read a thread without being prepared for spoilers. I think it's better to have a no holds barred attitude when it comes to the discussions. It's so much more fun if we are bold rather than tentative.

3: book lists quarterly or semi-annually - I would love having more lead time on books. I hit half price books a few times a year and it would be even more fun with a Bee's shopping list.

7638 I have the hd...I think the main difference is the size. I like my hd as a reader, and so really like the functionality for being able to hop to goodreads, Facebook and web. The screen is decent in the sun, but my K2 is way better in the sun. As a tablet, I much prefer the iPad. It's really no comparison. But, I got my nook as a reader, and it functions great for that with the bonus of Internet.
7638 I was blown away by the sheer task of compiling these lists of words and definitions in a world where there aren't notebooks, much less computers to assist.
7638 I started it too, I too don't really care for non fiction but I don't think it's bad. It reminds me a lot of the papers I used to write in grad school. He has no citations though.

7638 My nook died on vacation. :(. But! B & N is replacing it. Excited for my new one to show up.

7638 @Elizabeth from TX! :) I read Where'd you go Bernadette, several chapters in The Prince of Tides and re-read a couple Black Dagger Brotherhood books.

7638 I read this one in about a day, and finished it May 26 and immediately started reading it to my kids. I thought this was an amazing book, and the characters superbly rendered. It was a book so totally grounded in reality that you could see people you know in the pages. August was an amazing little boy, despite his inside "ordinary". I think the lessons on kindness and humanity that were written are eternal. This is one of those books that can and should endure for generations.

7638 I finished this one tonight, and fell in the "love" column for sure. I read through the posts here, and while there were a lot of great observations, I found that several of the parts others found irritating (the excessive wine tasting) to be awesome, because that's just something I enjoy. I would LOVE to have a more trained palate, but I'm still in the "I like/I don't like" of sommeliers.

I am a huge fan of Twilight, but didn't find a lot of similarities here either. I found the characters (for the most part) fully realized and able to really visualize them. I thought it was a lot more fantasy oriented than Twilight. I found myself reminded of The Muse of Edouard Manet at times with the historical aspects. (A much, much better edited book though.) I'm very much looking forward to the second and third installments.

7638 Good for you, Steph! So glad you got to take a fabulous trip. You deserve all the fun and happiness the world has to pour out!

And I don't think your Bees will mutiny any time soon. We're well trained, and fairly self-sufficient. :)

7638 Aren't they precious? I grew a tumor in my nose when I was pregnant with Kasia (pygenic granuloma) and had chronic nosebleeds the last trimester. Gabe was 2 and would sit next to me and also hold a tissue to his nose while I would wait out my nosebleed. :) It was adorable, and pathetic.

7638 I laughed out loud at the love/hate post, but then was sad to see you had a subsequent hospitalization. :( Boo Hiss!!!!

Congratulations on your baby boy!!!! I have one of each too and love it. Gabe was the easiest baby ever, hopefully your little man will be as well to make up for the gestation!

7638 @ Elizabeth - When we went in 09 it was the Kim Possible Adventure. And yeah, it took an hour and drove all of us parents nuts. :P

7638 I had about 70 posts to catch up on, and my TBR grew...

I'm currently reading Beautiful Ruins and have re-read a couple Black Dagger Brotherhood books while on vacation. I just didn't have a ton of concentration for anything too deep and it was helpful that I already knew the plots so I was just mindlessly entertained.

I think I'll re-read Harry Potter and Percy Jackson this summer - hopefully Gabe or Kasia will get excited to join in. They haven't been reading as much lately as I'd like.

I told the guard at my office about John Sandford and brought him a couple books. Jim told me on Monday that he's now purchased the hard cover of every single book John Sandford has written. :) I love being a force for good...
