Oh no.. this is like a spin off, and there really is a book with the half warden, half demon character.

Chapter 1. She can't see good at night so naturally she sneaks out..at night..to face demons...at night. Yeah, smart.
Chapter 9. Zayne's clan raising a half warden, half demon.. that sounds so familiar. I'll have to go through her books to see if she has something like that.
Finished chapter 10, and I'm so curious. Is she like Michael or something like that? Since I haven't read books with gargoyles or know anything more about them I have no idea what to think. Demons, light and a righteous fire with a sword make me think of angels and... well she said her father is around but not here..
So generally, this is much better than Lux 😂 The writing has improved, some of the things are still a bit eh, but all in all I'm enjoying this. I have to finish another book, but if not I would've continued binging this.

I didn't get notification for the last 3 msgs.
Yes, she wrote Lux. I liked the first one because it was such a hit of nostalgia, but that nostalgic feeling didn't last because I couldn't look past the cringe in book two. Books have gotten better since that series, and since I missed out reading it then when I didn't know better.. now it's too late for it.
Guess what? Someone *me* started the book.

Chapter 22
(view spoiler)[ Oh, shit. They voted her out. They voted for Eche to take over for a while. Oh, shit, that is not good.
Okaay, so she's escaping, and isn't bound with the priesthood, I think I'm going to look forward to her chapters now too. (hide spoiler)] Chapter 25
(view spoiler)[ Balam :D more info on him.
:O could Powageh be the K dude that was the Sun priest before Nara? Only the Sun priests can read the starts, right? or I understood that wrong. (hide spoiler)]Chapter 27
(view spoiler)[ :O is Iktan one of those that betrayed her? I kinda wish. I just love betrayals 😅 (hide spoiler)]Finished chapter 30
(view spoiler)[ I like Xiala and Serapio, I'm curious to see what'll happen with them. Also, he's coming for the Sun Priest, Nara, and she's supposed to die by his hand. I'm finally enjoying this book. I don't know if it got better or if my slump let me be for a bit. (hide spoiler)]

😂 sorry.. it just took a road that wasn't that hard... I don't mind if things are cliche and predictable after some point but at least make them a bit
more.. I don't know how to explain but I think you'll understand when you get to that part.
yeah, let's start it on the weekend.

😯 well now I'm intrigued.
I finished one of my books that I was reading longer than expected, so this one is the next one of those that I have to finish.

Yeah, I had that too. I mean I started it later than planned, read 8 chapters and then I haven't picked it up for days. And when I picked it up it was okay, and I liked it enough but... it wasn't something mind blowing. It had potential to be a typical YA but with a +, it ended a bit meh ok YA.
I liked those chapters the most too. I mean how can you not be interested what'll happen with them after that meet 😄 I was intrigued too, that and if Keralie will succeed was what made me read a big chunk of the book when I picked it up. However, I was disappointed how things played out by the end.

Okay, good.. I thought I was the only slow one 😂😅
otherwise what are your thoughts on the book?

Chapter 15
(view spoiler)[ Oh, yey, another character PoV. But also it's good, if we didn't get Okoa's POV we wouldn't know how the Crow Matron has died.. and I'm doubtful it was really suicide. (hide spoiler)]Finished chapter 17

I know it sucks to read a book without anyone to discus it with.

I'm going to try and finish it soon, I'm not going to say when because my plans don't work out how I want.
How are you finding She who became the sun? because I haven't seen anything in that thread. I want to read it, but have other books planed before that that are also epic fantasy.
I'm sure that all the priests are of some importance, but so far I'm more interested in Xiala
(view spoiler)[and in Balam because there's more to him. (hide spoiler)]

Update: Message 9
total 11/24

I'll reading a bigger chunk of the book tomorrow, because I really fell behind. I read 2 more chapters (ch 3-4), but I can't read anymore it's to late and it makes me feel sleepy.

I read a few of her books. Two books I think in her Lux series, and yeah they were not good. Also one YA mystery which I liked.. and of course now the new Blood and Ash books, which I enjoyed much more. But yeah, I hadn't had high hopes for this book 😅

I don't have anything written in my review for that story except that I didn't really like it, gave it 2*. I'm going to check the discussion thread to see what was it about.

Oh, boy.. what was her story in that anthology again? I read it but 😅 I read her Sixth World books and I liked the Native American mythology mixed with urban fantasy, and all that in a dystopian setting.
As for the Convergence it has to be something big, and it has something to do with the Crow boy.. you don't carve feathers into someone and sew their eyes shut without a reason, and we were told that in the beginning so he must be an important puzzle piece.

Thanks for the article. I like how in it she says "I longed to see something different. So I wrote it." 😃
No worries, read at your own pace, I'll do the same and write down my thoughts in spoiler tags, and we'll discuss when you get to it.

I started it. I'm probably not going to read all of the chapters for today, but at least I started it.
Chapter 1
(view spoiler)[Does a real life tribe like this exist? I would be curious to read more about it.. The skin carving thing, not the sewing eyes shut. I was so surprised by it, it's more brutal than I expected this book to be. But to be honest I don't remember the synopsis so.. it can be anything. (hide spoiler)]Chapter 2
(view spoiler)[I'm going to like Xiala. Just love her attitude.
I also just now registered that the author is Native American, and Rebecca Roanhorse, so yeah, there probably is a tribe with those practices. I was 100% sure this was a N.K. Jemisin book, if I remembered the MC's name from Fifth Season and didn't have to look it up, who knows how long I would've believed it's her book 🙈 (hide spoiler)]
