Okay, wow.. I did not expect the duel between Zhu and Ouyang to be like that.. I'm a little shocked with the hand cutting. Okay, stabbing them so they could die, but the hand.
I looked up if this is surely a duology and saw that this is a real thing. Shelly took history and is rewriting it her way. Usually that makes me a bit hesitant because then I'm but what is the real history, what truly happened and what is the author's spin.. since I know nothing about Chinese history, and chances are that I won't learn because there's so much history I feel overwhelmed, I don't mind thinking of this as only fiction. But I think I'll be googling things after the second book to compare.

yeah, saw his fate.. and well it's good, but also I would've liked for him to suffer a bit more. Not pain wise, but embarrassment wise.

And while I'm still cringing at that first chapter, it kinda got better. Not better that I love it because honestly that won't be happening, but enough to feel indifferent towards it 😅 which is better than how it started.
I don't know, there's something in the writing, it doesn't work for me. It feels kinda flat, uneventful which doesn't have anything to do with something actually interesting happening. And the humor isn't hitting me right either.

@Bopeep Do you mean this cocktail? Because it's nonsense in English too.
Wriggling my way to the bar, I squinted at the chalkboard listing the night’s bespoke cocktails and eventually ordered a Sloe Comfortable Conversation about Pronouns Up Against the Wall, since it seemed like it would be both nice to drink and accurately descriptive of my chances of scoring that evening. Or, indeed, ever.

I want to read 2 of the books, maybe even all 3, but I knew I would have a problem which book to pick up first because I don't know what the majority would pick up first.. and I like to talk to people about the books I read.
Looking forward to reading with you!
