I wonder what pros & cons are there to being linked to Stefan.

I feel like I need some fan art for these books. Mercy being 30, okay. Adam looking like someone in their late 20s.. ooookay.. But Bran looking like a teenager.. I can't.
Ghosts are interesting to put among the creatures in Mercy's universe, but so far this story line is weak. Mercy isn't too concerned about the ghost, the mother just leaves her kid alone (yes, she leaves him with Mercy but... I wouldn't leave my kid with someone I used to know in college).

The way chapter 3 stopped I just have to read more to know what happens next.

Prologue & Chapter 1.
I get how all of her cousins left the first chance they got, but I like how the MC stayed.. even though it must've been a little "claustrophobic" for her. I don't have a family like that, and am not super close with my parents I still get the feeling of being trapped in a invisible bubble because I don't get to say and do things how/when I want to do them because oh, what would they say and things like that. So only thinking about the MCs situation... it makes me panic a little.
I know that later on I'll get who is who in 1 sec, but right now I'm confused which aunt is which, and what is whose specialty in this family business.
Her mother's stunt is funny.. because I'm reading about it and I am not on the receiving end. I'm scared and excited to see who actually will show up, because I believe NOTHING that her mother tells her that the guy is like. I mean it's the internet.
🤣🤣🤣 Oh nooo, things got more catastrophic

Last night when I saw that I had to read 80 pages for the first day I was oh-oh, how will I manage, but it went by really fast. How would you feel if we read another book in the series later this month?
Mar 10, 2022 02:49PM

I don't have things to say, maybe just mention somethings.
*It was interesting to meet her mother, I'm sure she was mentioned in the previous books but nothing more so I was a tad surprised when she showed up.. and she was alive 😅
* I think that at the moment I'm most curious about Sam.. Like, is having a mate going to "cure" him? If it was a normal book I would find that a total bullshit, however since these books have supernaturals and mates... maybe a mate will "fix" him instead of therapy 😅😂 But really, I'm curious if he will find a mate and not be lonely anymore, and if yes, I wonder who will it be, and when will it happen. I'm just a little tempted to go look for spoilers.

What are your thoughts?
Are you going to read the next book in the series?

@Bopeep I'm glad you enjoyed the book 😄 However, I'm sorry we didn't like it and our talk of it discouraged you from sharing your thoughts as you read.

As for not loving the first chapter... That kinda became a Bardugo thing for SoC and KoS books, starting the story with a character that is not one of the MCs.

I didn't even pay attention to what his job is 😂😅 I thought he was the assistant.
Mar 02, 2022 03:50PM

Yeah, Oliver seems okay, a tad awkward and a little taking things to literally and being serious. 🤣 he definitely will need a lot of patience.
I'm glad you are enjoying it 😄 I expect spoilers from you later on

I finished chapter 18, and I'm pretty sure I'm not picking up the book again. It got better compared to the first chapter, however it didn't get that good for me to think of it as a well written book. I feel like it needed some more development in the writing and the characters because Luc is so fucking annoying. If nothing else it's easy flowing and I read a lot fast without being aware of it.
I'm looking forward to your thoughts.. and spoilers if you read more than me.. I wouldn't mind finding out what happens in the book.. just not by reading it myself 😅
Mar 02, 2022 12:52PM

🤣 I love it how the majority of us who are reading and discussing the book are not feeling love for this book.
I'm listening to the audio while also reading along, and if I had to only read it.. I don't know how much I would've read, this way I can speed it up.

“I hadn’t thought of it that way. I just wanted you to enjoy the food, and I’d never impose my principles on people who don’t necessarily share them.”
Was it me, or had he basically said “I think you’re behaving unethically, but I assume I can’t expect any better from you”?
And is it me, or is Luc put himself down and making it like the other person was saying it? Because I don't see Oliver judging him, and saying he doesn't expect anything better than of him.
Okay, I get that your life is all shit.. but even though didn't have a present father and he was also a disaster doesn't mean you couldn't have made a better life and choices. I mean you present yourself like someone that NO ONE wants to hire, why? Because you were such a party boy, or your father was whatever, so people judge you on your father's behavior but also your behavior closed ALL doors for you, well except the dung beetle foundation.

Chapter 10
Yeah, not saying your mother said something important came up it WAY better to say you can't come, can't explain why, and to just enjoy his date without you.
I'm not surprised his life is shit, not one bit.
Mar 02, 2022 12:14PM

Yeah, the end was not as they planned. I liked it, but it lacked something.. it felt more like an intro to the story than a story. And I know that an intro is important and it shows us how things started and all that, but there wasn't any peak into the story.. maybe the end a bit when the killing started but.. it was the end it's not the same as when it happens 80% into the story and you are excited and can't wait to see how it'll end.

@Amanda I don't think that's a cultural difference, but it seems the author need to put some funny ..."
Yep to the nonsense cocktail.
Well people see things differently. His "luck" 😂 is bad, but for me it could've been like a funny bad luck as a reader, but I didn't feel like it.. It felt it was trying too much 🤷♀️
