42178 Mrs. J You can not allow me to "beat" you at your own challenge. Thats just not right! ;)

In all seriousness, though, I do hope you're at least enjoying your gaming/non-reading time, and that you're happy.

As to MR: Like HiMS, I stay primarily in the Reading Recommendations section. I don't even really visit the Lounge that much, except to occasionally play one of the games that I started.

42178 Thanks Mrs, J! :)

42178 Woot! I sort of, kind of, maybe finally completed a book!!!

I've just finished Nine Princes in Amber , the first book in The Great Book of Amber . As I stated in my "review", it was quite chaotic & compelling. I am looking forward to book 2.

Jon may be right, however. I may have to take a break between each book, instead of every three or four books like I was planning.

42178 I'm still at work, but I'll definitely check that out when I get home! Thanks, again! :)

42178 :)

I'll let you in on the secret: Mrs. J can't help but give a good recommendation; they don't call her a book pusher for nothin'! But **Shhh** Don't let her know that we know, or she might not go back! ;)

While I am usually one to read a series back to back whenever possible, the size and weight of this omnibus is a bit intimidating.

Since I plan to leave it at home, however, I think that will allow for natural breaks as I read other things (when I can) at work or elsewhere.

My biggest hope is that it jump starts my reading again.

And you are awesome for doing so!! :) Thank you.

42178 I hear you!

I always vote for "Free For All", but I really, really want one month for SciFi and one month for Fantasy.

42178 I broke down and decided to ask for guidance, via a poll, over on MobileRead.

Would love GR input as well, please. :)

42178 Good to see you again, Christa. I'm sorry you're hurting. Sending Get Better wishes to both you and Mrs. J. (((HUGS)))

42178 Thanks. :) I have been trying to take my own advice.

42178 Haven't read much of anything these last 2 weeks. Busy, stressed, tired..not really able to concentrate. I've been playing Zynga's Slingo on Facebook. I doubt I'll finished either Persuasion or Shadow Blade before the end of the month.

Well said! :Thumbs up:

Yaaay! I enjoyed that one.

As long as your heart is happy, play away! Your books will be there for you when you decide to come back. :)

42178 To mix things up a little I've started Shadow Blade. I'm only a few pages in, but so far so good.

42178 Having a very off week, mostly due to work. I'm usually able to find at least 15 minutes of reading time during my work day, but that just did not happen this time around. Persuasion is kind of keeping my intrest, but I think I already know how things will be resolved.

42178 Thanks Mrs.J :)

May your reading drought end with the return of your health and may both happen tomorrow, or at least soon!

See now, I asked on MobileRead as well, and gmw & HarryT said "No" citing writing for "art" vs writing for "entertainment" (regardless of artistic value). In other words Austen did not intend for her works to be seen as "art" so she did not write them as such.
Harry suggested Joyce (to which I said no) or Virginia Woolf (which I said I would consider as I've never read her before).

Ugh! The hack is the worst (well, 2nd worst - Post nasal drip is the worst, IMO) and can be so painful. I'm glad to hear that you're getting better.

42178 Would Persuasion or actually any of Jane Austen's work count as "Literary Fiction"?
