I checked out the one on your list: Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said. It sounds both interesting and creepy.
So my first book of 2013 will be
A Scanner Darkly, which is the January SciFi Selection @ Beyond Reality.
I've picked up a "Side Challenge" [ January 2013 Challenge ~ New Year, New Reads!] courtesy of the Paranormal Addicts & Newbies - Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy GroupI know I can cover 3 of the 5 easily, possibly 4, this month, but the 5th may be tricky as not all of my January reads will be Fantasy themed.
Or not! Apparently GoodReads widgets don't actually work on GoodReads. Anyone else find that to be a bit ridiculous??
So, I'm thinking.. Maybe instead of keeping a manual list, I should add one of the GoodReads widgets and/or a link to my 2013 shelf, so that whoever is interested can take a look.
Do you mean one of these? :TickerFactory.com
Choose "Objects/Actions Counter" under "Crafts/Hobbies" towards to bottom, and fill out as wanted, following the prompts.
I'm finally listening to myself and keeping my goal "manageable". 52 novels (1 book a week); 15,500 pages.
Most (if not all) will come from the 4 book clubs of which I'm a member:
MobileRead (of course)
Paranormal Addicts & Newbies - Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy
Fantasy Aficionados
Beyond Reality
My book club participation will be determined mostly by time, money and intrest.
I was so thrilled to see that my library system has finally added access to overdrive, only to learn that the selection online is worse than "in house"; very, very disappointing. I wish there was a way to use overdrive, without having to have a library connection.
Its just not happening. I can't get into anything. The good news is that its a combo of busy days, stress (good & bad), excitement and planning for 2013, instead of the depression that seized me in late summer/early fall. I may just have to call it a day on my 2012 challenge and continue looking forward to next year.
So it'll neither be BDB nor Percy Jackson. I'm starting Breed To Come
by Andre Norton, as suggested by my hubby. I've not read any of her work before, but he thinks I'll really like it.

I know what you mean about pressure. I'm feeling it myself. It seems as soon as I try to tweak my reading goal, the universe says "Nope..lets do something else".
Hubby says its probably exhaustion causing my attention span to shrink and wander. I have been subbing more than usual the last few weeks (not that I'm complaining, its good to be able to have a job that lets you set your own schedule).
GA wrote: "Thanks, Nyssa! You're a pal. I tried a couple of more times without success, so naturally it started working again after I gave up!"
Isn't that usually the way. :) Glad its working again for you too!
GA wrote: "Nyssa, I'm glad I'm not the only one! I thought the problem was with my computer, so I re-booted, but no change."Mine started working again a day or two ago. Any luck with yours?
@ Caleb: My 2013 reading may be determined by the 4 GoodReads Groups of which I'm a member, including the MobileRead Book Club. We'll see. Like you, I wonder if it will align with reality. The 3 other groups are dedicated to SciFi and/or Fantasy, which I love, but I don't want to suffer "favorite genre overload". @ HiMS: **Smile** Its been on my TBR list for about a year...maybe two; I own the first one, So You Want to Be a Wizard.
I promised myself, however, that I would read Percy this year. My eldest son has read the first 3 or 4 and I'd like to be able to talk to him about it.
So, I think instead of going back to Black Dagger Brotherhood, I'm going to read the Percy Jackson series instead. I read The Lightening Thief a few months ago, and enjoyed it. I want something light and fun leading up to the Holiday Season; BDB just doesn't seem to fit. I do hope to read books 9 & 10 before the end of the year, though.I've also been thinking about my 2013 Challenge. I'm aiming low at 1 book a week (so 52 novels), plus 25, already owned, short stories. I don't read short stories often, yet I seem to have collected quite a few, so this is sort of a TBR challenge as well. I won't add the short stories to my GR Challenge widget, but wil count them off with the Ticker Thingy on my 2013 thread.
Yes! I had that problem as well. I deleted the ones from my 2012 challenge, but have kept the ones I set up for 2013.

Yes..very much so. I think it is the best book in the series to date.. but you MUST know the characters' histories. Butcher packed a lot of story into this one. He's not tying up loose ends, so much as catching everyone up to day, as well as, showing how one character intertwines with another, and then laying the additional ground work for the future. I also like how once or twice there were references made to a couple of the short stories as well.
