Nice! I've been wanting to start the Dresden Files for a while now, but, I have so many other books already in my possession that have not yet been read. I think I may have to leave this for now and make it a part of my 2012 Challenge.
I love this idea!!Am I right in assuming, since it is not stated, that neither of these challenges are timed, nor do they have a "number of books" goal? Is the challenge then to just read all or as many as possible?
My best wishes to you Care! I hope everything works out well, and soon. (((hugs)))Thanks for stepping up Christa & Mrs.Joseph! :)
I keep crossing my fingers that Amazon won't stop giving away free books, as I seem to be downloading every last one of them.
1 book a month is not a very record for a 100, or 50, or 25 books in a year challenge, but at least its a start.I finished, a not-yet-published Juvenile Fiction book, yesterday; which was written by my MIL. It is very good. I'm quite proud of her.
The other two books are:
Practical Demonkeeping
A Room With a View
Very good! Sounds both honest and to the point. If I were the author I would probably be compelled to ask you which points (facts and foreshadowing) fell flat, in the hopes of improving.
50 sounds like a lot, but I have 70 tags in Calibre so I can see myself having as many shelves here. I've already combined a couple of them (like mystery/detective with thriller/suspense, and juvenile fiction with young adult) to keep the number of shelves down.I wish we could add a description or note the shelves so that I could shorten some of the names.
Edit: I changed my mind on combing the mystery, and suspense genres. Even though my of the books share both genre sets, I like having them apart.
1. Is there such a thing as having too many shelves? If yes, how many are too many?2. Do you look at your friend's/group mate's book shelves?
3. Does having genre specific shelves help you to recommend books to others, or help you to choose a book to read?
4. As far as genre, does seeing how others shelve their books help you to shelve your own?
My answers:
1. Possibly, depending on how minimalistic one wants to be. I have not quite found that limit as yet.
2. I do look at others shelves occasionally - see question 4.
3. I find it does help with recommendations to others, but not with finding a book for myself.
4. Yes! Sometimes I'm not quite sure how to categorize a book, especially if I have not read it as yet. I will therefore look to find a common placement.
I like the idea about dedicated threads for specific genres. Not only will it help with easy access, but could also help to introduce people to genres they haven't tried before.

Thanks Christa! :)
Hi, I'm Nyssa!I'm a 37 year old, Stay At Home Mom of 3/School Volunteer. I've loved reading for as long as I can remember, although I have allowed myself to be distracted by other hobbies over the years.
I do not have a favorite author, but my favorite genres are fantasy and then scifi.
Overall, I am a sucker for happy endings.

Would appreciate a suggestion or two.
