Wow. I did not get notifications for this. :("

I did not either...

Well, you're already welcome as you know Stephanie, but I'll make it official...

Hello & Welcome! :)

42178 No pressure! :) Steelheart is pretty good. I'm not sure why I'm dragging my feet on it. It is way too early in the year for me to fall into a reading slump.

42178 Mrs. J . You can do your entries here the way we do them for the Series challenge at FoF.

I'm going to do that in my challenge thread here as well. I'm also listing the reads (with completed date) in posts 2 - 5 of my thread, but I realize not everyone may think or want to scroll to the top to see them.

Nope.

I'm inclined to agree...

42178 I'm still working on Steelheart. I'm a little over halfway through, and my hope is to be able to finish it tonight. But, I have to get my chores done first, so off I go.

42178 I think GR may have done something to disable it, because mine works on MobileRead but not here.

Congrats on your first read of the year! :)

Sidenote: I couldn't get my "ticker" to work, please tell me if yours is working.

42178 I think many if not most people could probably find some sort of racing game that they enjoy. There was one, back in the day, on Atari that I really liked, because the background would change from day to night and I thought that was the coolest thing, ever! :) I have no idea what it was called, though. It was out around the same time as Pitfall (which I liked but it drove me crazy).

:) With time management, I'm good up to a point and then all of a sudden, I'm not. LOL

I'm not good at the mystery puzzle games at all! Shooters aren't even allowed in out house.Neither hubby nor I like them, nor do we want the kids playing them. We're also not fans of the sport related games, they just don't keep our interest - even when we used the Wii.

Our kids are into Minecraft (both on their PCs and the XBox 360), PVZ, platformers, racing games, and for a while Skylanders.

42178 See, I'm a casual, simplistic gamer. I like Time Management (Anything-Dash), Hidden Objects (Gardenscape, Dream Inn - this a relatively new obsession), Match 3 (Bejeweled, Rise of Atlantis) and Ball Shooter (?) (Zuma , Sparkle 2) type games.

Basically the stuff you find on BigFish for the computer and iProducts.

42178 As to your shepherds.. Can't you continue to give them equal time, even if its to play one for a day or week, and then play the other for a day or week?

Whatever you decide, you seem to be having a good time, so Yay! :)

42178 If either of you are interested, there is a new (month old) group called Flights of Fantasy. The tag line: Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Horror, and YA/MG. We reads it.

I've been there since day one and they're a pretty fun group (unless arguing about the virtues of YA ;) - you'd have to read the thread yourself. :)) That is the group that encouraged the series challenge I'm in.

They are actually discussing a Buddy Read like project for all of Discworld.

I'll send both of you an invite, if you like, just in case you are interested. (No worries if you choose not to accept.)

42178 LOL! about your mom. I hope she loves her Paperwhite as much as I love mine!

A Birthday/Sifi Hybrid Challenge...that's cool! I think I would personally go with Birthday/Fantasy. I love magical/mystical/mythological creatures and beings.

Moby Dick is not allowed. I've had an aversion to that book since high school. I have absolutly no interest in reading it!

Here are the ones I would like to read:

The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
David Copperfield by Charles Dickens ~ Anything by him really
Emma by Jane Austen
A Tale of Two Cities
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen
Vanity Fair by William Makepeace Thackeray The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov
Persuasion by Jane Austen

42178 I finished NERDS National Espionage, Rescue, and Defense Society (NERDS, #1) by Michael Buckley NERDS: National Espionage, Rescue, and Defense Society. I enjoyed it just as much this time as i did last time. I will definitely continue/finish the series this year.

Next, I will be moving onto Steelheart (Reckoners, #1) by Brandon Sanderson Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson next. Not sure if I'll start it tonight or wait until tomorrow.

:) If I weren't already committed to doing multiple challenges, plus wanting to participate a little more in group reads, I would try. But, I've already put a lot on my plate, and have gotten myself into trouble in the past (burnout!) for pushing to do too much.

The Black Dagger Brotherhood series is a favorite of mine (sex and all). Just be aware that they are specifically paranormal-romance so there will be sex, (plus talking about sex, wishing for sex, talking about not having sex, etc. ) in every book, and not all of it pleasant (One of the brothers in particular has a pretty dark history, and one of the Lessers is pretty sick in the head).

I agree that the vampire concept is quite different and interesting, which is why I like the series so much. I left off with book #8 Lover Mine.

42178 I know its a bit early, but I may have already found a focus for my 2015 Challenge (LOL!): Classics I Would Like to Read.
I could probably challenge myself to at least one classic a month.
