Wow. I did not get notifications for this. :("
I did not either...
Well, you're already welcome as you know Stephanie, but I'll make it official...
Hello & Welcome! :)

I'm going to do that in my challenge thread here as well. I'm also listing the reads (with completed date) in posts 2 - 5 of my thread, but I realize not everyone may think or want to scroll to the top to see them.

Did yall ever get the tickers to work?"
Nope.

Embassytown by China Miéville was a fantastic opener. It's great to start the year reading your favourite author and Mi..."
Congrats on your first read of the year! :)
Sidenote: I couldn't get my "ticker" to work, please tell me if yours is working.

I've mostly focused on reading and review writing. I'm home sick so I'm probably going to bed soon. But after maybe some gaming..."
Aww! Yes, Get some rest! & Feel Better Soon, Hon! (((HUGS)))

:) With time management, I'm good up to a point and then all of a sudden, I'm not. LOL
I'm not good at the mystery puzzle games at all! Shooters aren't even allowed in out house.Neither hubby nor I like them, nor do we want the kids playing them. We're also not fans of the sport related games, they just don't keep our interest - even when we used the Wii.
Our kids are into Minecraft (both on their PCs and the XBox 360), PVZ, platformers, racing games, and for a while Skylanders.

Basically the stuff you find on BigFish for the computer and iProducts.

Whatever you decide, you seem to be having a good time, so Yay! :)

I finished the first book of the year! It took me a week to read, longer than normal, due to a busy store and lack of sleep.
It was The Man in the Moss by Phil Rickman. I loved ..."
Congratulations!

I've been there since day one and they're a pretty fun group (unless arguing about the virtues of YA ;) - you'd have to read the thread yourself. :)) That is the group that encouraged the series challenge I'm in.
They are actually discussing a Buddy Read like project for all of Discworld.
I'll send both of you an invite, if you like, just in case you are interested. (No worries if you choose not to accept.)

A Birthday/Sifi Hybrid Challenge...that's cool! I think I would personally go with Birthday/Fantasy. I love magical/mystical/mythological creatures and beings.

Not worth it usually for me. And I've read Moby Dick, Pride and Prejudice, A Tale of Two Cities, Ulysses (Joyce) and A Portrait of the YoungMan as An Artist.
The next Cl..."
Moby Dick is not allowed. I've had an aversion to that book since high school. I have absolutly no interest in reading it!
Here are the ones I would like to read:
The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
David Copperfield by Charles Dickens ~ Anything by him really
Emma by Jane Austen
A Tale of Two Cities
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen
Vanity Fair by William Makepeace Thackeray The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov
Persuasion by Jane Austen

Next, I will be moving onto

:) If I weren't already committed to doing multiple challenges, plus wanting to participate a little more in group reads, I would try. But, I've already put a lot on my plate, and have gotten myself into trouble in the past (burnout!) for pushing to do too much.

The Black Dagger Brotherhood series is a favorite of mine (sex and all). Just be aware that they are specifically paranormal-romance so there will be sex, (plus talking about sex, wishing for sex, talking about not having sex, etc. ) in every book, and not all of it pleasant (One of the brothers in particular has a pretty dark history, and one of the Lessers is pretty sick in the head).
I agree that the vampire concept is quite different and interesting, which is why I like the series so much. I left off with book #8 Lover Mine.

I could probably challenge myself to at least one classic a month.
