We can plan out the next few rounds. Everyone has to read for Event two (the page -count one) and the Chariot Event, so you can pick what you want to read for those and go as soon as we get the word.

Event 1 - Heat 2 - Leg 2 - Book 2
OK, I've still got my Heat 2 books to work on after making my way through the Anarchy period of English history (twice!), but for those of you who have read everything and kept going, you are stockpiling books for the next events. It's nice to know that nothing is wasted.
In your spare time you can noodle about on the Olympics sheet planning the giant chain we can make during the bonus rounds.

In my book, now that they've met we are alternating chapters between him and her, but going over the same events. Which is kind of interesting, because they are misunderstanding each other in many ways but not in an annoying way, but it means the plot is sooooooo slow. At least I haven't learned any new history in the past 100 pages...
Moonlight, Heat 2 (your event) isn't as urgent, as we have to finish all the event's base rounds before going on. I'd better get back to my book, though, because we have to finish Heat 1 before we can start those other events.
I feel like I'm the hold up. My book Fires of Winter turned out to be almost 500 pages long, and the first 100 pages were all the history of 12th century England. Ask me about the troubles about Queen Matilda and the succession sometime...Anyway, the two main characters have finally met so I hope things go faster. I'm still planning to finish tonight, but probably late tonight.
I think it's true, because the rules for Olympics keep saying that for THIS ONE because of all the special rules all book have to be started during the Olympics. Which implies that for the other ones it isn't so.That's cool! I'll keep labeling books I read as wobbles then? Do we put them in the Books read thread and mark 'em as not Olympicable?
OK, Ang, make sure you take Queen of Shadows off the spreadsheet and replace it with Queen of Shadows ;-)
One more before I go back to reading -- we can pick out our books for the next task, even if we can't start them. So if there was something you want to read in the next week or so, but don't need to start for a few days, put it in a spot on the PAGE JUMPING tab of the spreadsheet.Again, we can't START reading these books until heat 1 is over, but it would be nice to be able to move into the rest of the events as soon as we get the OK from the captains. And also, if you want to pick a shorter book for this, grab that spot now.
I was looking for books that just edge over into their page range, but that's because I like gaming the system. The Sword of Summer claims to have 499 pages, so it would work for the last book of Leg 3, but in a very painful way!
I'm only a few pages into my new book, Fires of Winter when I noticed that it was the second (and last in a series). So I peeked at the first book -- and it has ARMS. Maybe if I like this one I'll hunt down the predecessor -- A Tapestry of Dreams
We've shaded the backgrounds for the different tasks, so I'm changing the text of completed to white. Black text is incomplete, white text is complete.I will let a better spreadsheet person figure out how to show in-progress.
Finished Midnight Blue, ready to start Fires of Winter.Chug Chug Chug!
Do we want to mark finished books on the working spreadsheet?
I think we can't use stuff that we start before we finish the basic events; that's how I understood the rules. You can't start bonus rounds until all the basic rounds are done, and Olympics is all about the start times. It's possible that we can use them in later events, after Olympics. I seem to remember that Olympics is different that way. Anyone know?

Even when I read romance, I tend to pick up the ones with the woman on the cover. Maybe it's because I've mostly gotten into romance through paranormal stuff (like Patricia Briggs) and they tend to put women in strange positions on the cover.
Hey, as anyone else seen the parodies Jim Hines does? He's this skinny middle aged nerd author of fantasy books who for charity once posed as the cover of books donors selected. It got pretty funny: http://www.jimchines.com/cover-posing/
We moved the 3-chains around at the last minute because someone was doubled up. So the original 3-chain from Heat 1 got moved to Heat 2 and we made up the new one at the last minute. So you are trying to rush Home Fires and Death of a Lady, and then you can take your time with One Summer and At Betram's Hotel.
If you finish all those before everyone else in Heat 1 finishes then we are stuck! You have to read for other things and I guess we could start planning out the 20 chain.
Stay with Red Queen.I found that Ness book very powerful when I read it. I don't know if I'd say I *liked* it, because it had a lot of darkness, but I recommend it. I put you in the spreadsheet as planning to read that.

I have already read it but maybe someone could"
I can definitely read the book but for what am I reading it for? LOL"
For arms but I'm a little worried about the shoulder coverage. Somebody with a bigger screen (or the actual book) should check.
Carmen, you can see from shoulders to fingers, so I think that's enough arm.How about
? It's a lot of arm, but I'm not sure if it's a future human or a space alien. I guess I'll probably find out when I read it. Hey, if it's an alien, maybe he can help pull our chariot!
