I just found a library book FIRES OF WINTER, so we are go. It's a romance, so it's a fast read, but I don't know how long it is. I'll be done by Monday at the latest.

OK, I do still have to read The Sword of Summer by Thursday. Ang, Sheila, can you grow from that? Or do you want to suggest something? Blackbird Fly will also be due soon, and it's really short. Do any fast readers have BLACKBIRD (end) or FLY (start)?

Hey, we should start talking about Event 5, the important stuff -- what are our Team Colors?

We need to (among other things):

Read TWO books for Team Colors (may be same color)
Must choose from Olympic Rings colors (Blue, Black, Red, Yellow or Green).
Color must be at least 60% of cover, using Color Extract at TinyLabs

What color is a Tapir? OUR TAPIR.

I've been meaning to read Bronze Gods for ages -- it and the sequel are on my shelves. You can have "stone" though. :)

Ashley, there's no hurry whatsoever for the Cards on the Table book, it just has to be done in the next two weeks or so.

There is a hurry for the Magic Bitter, Magic Sweet book. Can you read that first?

Is it getting confusing? Should we have a post with the time-critical Heat 1 stuff by person, so we know what we have to read starting NO EARLIER than 11 AM London time?

Sheila, because I have no worries whatsoever about your ability to read 3 books during the next 3 days, let alone 3 weeks. :-)

And I DEFINITELY want you all over the place in Heat 1, Event 1.

Ashley, please grab the card option. That doesn't have to be done until the end. But remember you will also have to do an EVENT 2 book (it can be really short) and and EVENT 5 book before the end.

Can I put titles down for the NOT YETS if I promise not to start reading them yet?

I need to read To Sail a Darkling Sea in the next week or so anyway (library book) so does anyone have a book that starts with CARDS? Forget Light. I want CARDS!

I feel like an auctioneer.

Everyone will also have to read a book in Event 2.

And in Event 5.

Event 2 is page jumping, where we have to read a short book, a medium book, a long book, and a longer book.
And then again, six times.
And then again, eight times.

Then we do it again. I think Ang is readying a spreadsheet for that so we can claim spots based on the length of our books.

Event 5 is where we build a chariot and then decorate it.

So if you (not Sheila) can only read 3 books for these three weeks, make sure you pick one from Event 1, one from Event 2, and one from Event 5. And also maybe you (not Sheila) should be in Heat 2 of Event 1 because we can't start reading for any other events until everyone in Heat 1 finishes their book.

In Event 1, everyone has to read a book in EITHER heat 1 or heat 2.

But as long as we're not holding back, can anyone start with LIGHT and then we'll lock in Leg 3 of Heat 2? And confirm a spot for Paula.

I put Shadows and Light on hold at the library if no one else claims the spot. I feel I've been a bit bossy lately so I'm trying to hold back.

@Paula, I grabbed Red Queen as the most recent 2 word English title on your to-read list. Pending the ruling on translations, (and can I just say that I'm so jealous and awed that you can read bilingually since I never got out of grade school level with anything not English), is that a good place to look?

Over at the spreadsheet we are working up the Heat 2 chains. We've got several 2-link options, and two that have blossomed. Anyone want to claim the dangling ends?
