35559 Happy Thanksgiving to our American teammates! Or should I just say what it is...Happy Overeating Day!

I probably will not be on again, as we have lots of family here, but I'm hoping to at least get some reading in today!

35559 Dale,
Sorry, but King of the Causeway is only 124 pages and the minimum page count is 160 pages. I removed it from the tracking sheet. Hopefully you still enjoyed the book and maybe it can be used in another challenge!

35559 Dale,
Can you please mark on the tracking sheet how T and F qualify for your book, Up In Smoke? Thanks!

ETA: Also, your preppy book is on the tracking sheet for 300 pages, but that doesn't match with the edition you read on your shelf. Please correct that also. Any questions, let me know!

Lovely! Our oldest daughter and her husband lived there for the first few years of their marriage. He was born and raised there.

Yes, I'm in VA, so definitely EST. I also try to give a few hours for updates. I couldn't have finished another book anyway, so it's all good! Doing the math from London to EST is good for my brain! No problem that it''s set to London time. I

Thanks, Dale! Very kind of you! As long as it's 4pm EST then I will be fine!

Here is the timer that was posted on page two :) ive been using this"

Thanks, Dale. That was the link I was using, but this morning it read 0:00 for "end of round 1, start of round 2" so I thought time was up. I'm confused how you all are still seeing hours were left. Mary C., I see you posted just shortly after me and stated we had 7+ hours left. Did it say that on the countdown clock? Just trying to figure it out for round 2 ending time. I know that if it's 9pm in London on Monday, then it's 4pm EST in the US, so I thought that was correct. Is there a way I change the clock to EST time, or do I just do the math?
Nov 21, 2022 05:34AM

35559 Ugh. Did I miss the deadline? I thought 9pm London time today would be 4pm eastern time in US. The time on the countdown clock is 0:00. Maybe it's set for London time?? I don't know how to alter it for east coast US.
Anyway, I just finished listening to Dune. I will mark it as finished on the SS, just in case it can be used.

35559 It seems like some teams haven't updated their points yet, but currently we are in 2nd place! Way to go team!!

Awesome! I love when one book works for two categories!

35559 I will be able to take the E (for my Dune book) and the S (for my Cytonic book) if still needed when I finish them.

35559 Looking ahead to next week, please give me your feedback for these possible brown covers.

The Lying Game by Ruth Ware . (tineye 57.9%)

The Tumbling Turner Sisters by Juliette Fay (tineye 60.2%)

ETA:
The Sea of Monsters (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #2) by Rick Riordan (tineye 76%)

35559 Brown...yuck! Also not a fan of Mythology, so not going to be my kind of week. Hope some of you on the team like those two categories.

I'm in pretty deep for the deadline. I've made progress with Dune and my Cytonic book, but sadly I heavily doubt I'll be able to read an additional book for R in time. I checked on Wiki for character names (since there seem to be a million characters in Dune), but unfortunately there aren't any R characters.

35559 Mary, we used to live about middle of the state in NH and I well remember those cold fall days. I don't miss them at all. Hope you get a little bit of warmer weather!

I must be crazy, but I saw Dune on the list for Space Opera and decided to get it in audio format (21 hours normal speed) from my library. I listen at 1.75 speed usually, but even sped up some it's still going to be a challenge to get it listened to by Monday's deadline. I'm guessing the last time I read it was in the 70s when I was in college. I don't recall the details, but I do remember I really liked it. So far the narration is spectacular and even has sound effects. It's really more like listening to a movie.

My other Space Opera, Cytonic, came into my library today, so I'm off now to get in a few hours of reading in that.

35559 Dale,
We now have our 5th pink book claimed, so we're good on those, unless you have one you want to read as a backup in case someone doesn't finish theirs.

We can always use more Space Opera (10 tags min) books also.

Stacey, good question and I don't know the answer for sure. Let's see what Louise says.

35559 I just got the ebook of Apples Never Fall. Moriarity's books usually read really fast, so I will read it.
Nov 16, 2022 05:30AM

35559 We're off to a great start, team, with a few of you already finishing your books on Day 1! Woo hoo! We still need one more pink cover and of course the more space operas the better, if anyone wants to read another one.

Louise, in reference to your "check this out" I read Razorblade tears in Feb 2022, so it's been more than 6 months. Is that a goal for us to try to read it and answer DQ's? If so, I can toss my name in and do a reread.

35559 Welcome Devann! Challenges always help me read more than normal. I just passed my reading goal, but I set it a little lower this year. I still have two year-long challenges to complete, so I need to read like mad until the end of December!
