Yay! I can't believe you found fig so easily! Life is good!!

No it's just author's first and/or last name. That's good that you have 3 of the tasks. I put down a book I'm currently listening to for Task T70 "takes a boat trip". If that's one that your book fits, we can always move mine.

I requested a new monster and struck out the text on the SS. Melissa, is that all we need to do or do we report it somewhere else?"
We just have to do the little checkb..."
Thank you! Next time I'll know!
Also, how do you get the picture of the monster to copy over to another post?

Charybdis
Charybdis has been spotted close to your shores and endangering ships heading for the harbor. If you manage to defeat this monster be prepared to answer "how are you still alive" every time you tell the story. The monster is interested in helping you reach your childhood dream of finding what's in Davy Jones's Locker.
To vanquish this monster you must:
1.) Read a book 800 pages or longer.
2.) Author's name (first or last) starts with one of the letters in POOL.
3.) Read a book where the MC is forced to make a hard choice (your interpretation).
4.) Read a book with "fig" in the title or text.
5.) Read a book where the characters take a boat trip (of any type)

We read My Brilliant Friend for my RL book group. It wasn't something I enjoyed, but everyone else really liked it. It does get a mixed bag of reviews. Hope you enjoy it!
I finished my book, The Day the World Came to Town: 9/11 in Gander, Newfoundland. Adding the read date to monster SS now.

The Warmth of Other Suns was a fast reading longer book, for me. It really moved me.

I have decided to finally read the Goldfinch. Just added it to the spreadsheet that I have enough done to know I'll stick with ..."
I loved the Goldfinch! As I remember it (it's been quite a few years since I read it) there is enough NYC to work as setting. The other setting was Las Vegas, which was the harder part of the book for me, so maybe I'm recalling NY as having most the story since it was the beginning and end that I liked best.

I'm currently listening to Things We Lost to the Water, so that will be up next. The MC's husband does some farming, but looks like we've got those two spots covered. I'll see if it works for a new monster, once we've earned one.

@Joyce - Witch Please isn't in your tower teams shelf. Could you fix that please?
@Maria Jo - Tobacco Wives and ..."
Sorry about that. It's now on my read shelf and my TT shelf.

You're doing good things for your community! No worries. Hope you heal fast!

I would say yes to a sheep rancher being a farmer. I'm from the midwest originally and had friends whose fathers referred to themselves as cattle farmers. If others disagree we can take it to the mods.
Keli,
Those BOMS are point winners too and not many choose to read them, so that's very valuable to our team!

Also, my book The Broken Girls was listed twice on the SS, so I deleted one of the listings and replaced it with The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. I added the tasks it works for. Also, the edition I read has a brown cover. I don't think we need that task right now, but if we get a new monster and need it, it would fit.

would be considered a plain?
(then it would be a good 3 for one book)"
Melissa, that looks like the African plain in the background. It's a stretch, but I think it works.

Our new monster:
Minotaur
Hooray! Way to get our monster!
The Minotaur has been seen on your lands, frolicking through fields and enjoying freedom for the fir..."
